Debuting at a relatively young age compared to his sunbaes, Jamie Pucca displays all the potential traits required for becoming the most prestigious Brood War Idol Caster of our time - that is assuming Sayle grows up, EleGant lays his life for the queen, L_Master moves on and makes the full switch to classical singing, hacklebeast disappears with the Brood War Zealot Eywa*, and BDogger is hunted down by the russian mafia Yoda lead by. And unless NinaZerg finally proves the existence of the Boob, as that is clearly what our community demands to acknowledge its member.
If you're wondering whether Eywa is the guy who promised like a 40k $ BW LAN championship, repeatedly confirming he has the money, yes, that is the guy. If you're wondering whether the championship happened or not, you might want to reconsider and stop reading this blog now.
Pucca has shown before he has got the stamina, the personality, the passion that drives us all and, most notably, the overlays he would astonish his viewers with on various occasions. Covering countless leagues, tournaments and other projects, Pucca was determined to do it all, taking upon new challenges as he was overwhelmed with his existing duties.
As any decent idol caster, Pucca faced some controversy when, after some 9 months of casting, it was discovered he has never played the game he repeatedly claimed to love so dearly. Prompted by the suggestions of his singaporean brother, Pucca decided to take upon the challenge, sharing his progress at his fan cafe.
Instead of encouraging the young hero, the TL netizens flamed the fresh up-and-comer as he shared his doubts and contemplated quitting his efforts. + Show Spoiler +
Following his dream of learning which unit does what, the young idol took on the challenge of casting the Coca-Cola CSOL (or whatever) 2000+ something, featuring his favorite progamer, Boxter* (*not my typo).
The young idol finally debutes with a masterpiece that would soon start a mania on TL, sweeping all the charts and getting to the frontpage 3 consecutive seconds of your last nightmare.
<Pucca Coca-Cola 2001 OSL Highlights>
The idol caster was destined to run into more trouble, however. For whatever reason, the elitist Brood War community would consider the neverending flow of discoveries such as... + Show Spoiler +
...slightly inappropriate, coming from an underage idol caster.
Pucca was subsequently harassed and assaulted by the community when his singaporean brother Lorenzo hacked into his account to share his opinion on the elitist Brood War camp.
Clearing up the issue, Pucca conveniently shared news of his upcoming comeback using the mediaplay in his favor.
After discovering that Brood War isn't in fact entertaining at all and workers are evil, though, Pucca decided to share his findings with the elitist community. The hostile TL community continued to bully him posting dreadful comments such as: + Show Spoiler +
with the aforementioned, once a scrub caster, Sayle leading the front:
...which eventually lead to another SCANDAL, supposedly performed by the TL's very own moderator team, logging into Pucca's account to post a revolutional musing masterpiece:
With SirJolt shamelessly denying his romantic correspondence with the underage idol,
and the admin team forcing the victim into plastic surgery with false promises of future fame and glory,
the misunderstood idol was done with TL for good.
Reflecting on his past actions however, Pucca's sister Lorenzo decided to clear his lover by delivering Pucca's offering to the TLS production team and defending his friend:
With the fan cafe deserted, Pucca now supposedly* faces an
Now, the community is faced with perhaps the most difficult choice yet. A choice that will be an ultimate reflection of its controversial past as well as determination of its future. Do we stand up for the young, shattered idol caster or do we tolerate the evil moderator team masterminds that ganged upon an innocent soul to destroy the dreams and laugh at a young man's face with their fancy icons?
Can we get our act together? Or are we too elitist to change our ways?

...I'd blog this but I feel like it would just confuse 99% of the blog population. Perhaps that will be the case here, too, but oh well~ can't do climbing for the moment, so gotta keep myself busy. Teen online drama ftw. I sure had my share back in the days, just not here lol. Good times.
Pucca is ok when he's not posting shit, he's done a bunch, he just has a hard time with stuff so I guess he gets angry too easily and then throws everything away. If he gets past that, I think he can be a good contributor.
I kind of afked from TL for the past 6 months due to school and had no idea why people were hating on Pucca so much. He seemed to be an up and comer who put some time into making fancy overlays and stuff. Now all of my questions have been humorously answered. Ty Stratos.
This story should really be one of late-blooming, a DocVoc slow-blosomming if you will (ok that's not fair sorry. I mean Racealitar), a gentle simmering of hormones and videogames I remember Pucca being really dedicated and professional. He had great commitment, overlays, concepts, and terrific drive to cast and put out tons of content. The production quality was there, leaps and bounds ahead of others in most cases. But the fatal flaw, his caster-idol Achilles-heel if you will, was lack of game knowledge and textbook nerdiness.
Game knowledge: Not there. Understandable for someone with a past childhood affection for BW, but little to no [competitive] commitment over a long time-period. Problem with our lingering community? We're sticklers for quality, not only production-wise, but game-smarts. Simply put: you can't be a successful caster for die-hard fans if your grasp of the game is weak. The only solution would be straight-up laddering, studying, and devoting a massive amount of time trying to get good at an old game, when you're just about to go to college (see: bad life priorities).
Textbook nerdiness: Again, tragically predictable. It is a let-down that our BW community was to immature to support him properly. To recognize our past and younger selves in his attitudes, and give him the benefit if the doubt rather than hitting back unforgivingly. Way to go on the empathy front guys. Real mature. Take issue with someone on issues that can be attributed to immaturity, in an immature way yourself. Sadly, the only way people grow, mature, and become more self-aware is by going out there and living. Except sometimes, the backlash from those efforts can be so great that they give up, which is sad.
And to think - there was a time my ambitions and desires were equally solely set on casting. But then I grew up went to college and realized that, instead of building a really expensive/powerful computer and spending all my time [broad]casting videogames to anonymous guys on the internet, my life would be far better spent growing up, blooming, and developing core [social] skill-sets I was dearly lacking.
You've got to recognize how everyone's journey is a journey of self-discovery, a digital timeline of life lived in the virtual realm. Poetic
To be fair, hacklebeast almost never played BW in his life and he was an excellent caster; you don't need to play to be a good caster. And I personally was thoroughly impressed by Pucca's dedication while it lasted, and thought it was sad to see him leave the way he did, and also was somewhat disappointed in the way he was treated by the community, not that he behaved perfectly either.

This was pretty much what I wanted to say, but was too tired at that moment to explain properly. Except maybe the last part of bITt.mAN's post.
I didn't dislike the guy, and thought it was a little strange he seemed to have some legit haters, especially in the beginning. Yes, his game knowledge was non-existant but he worked hard on his production quality and other aspects of casting and honestly a lack of game knowledge doesn't really strike me as a reason to warrant haters. Constructive feedback? Hell yes. Hate/Dislike? No. He got more shit than he deserved in my opinion, especially in the beginning part of his casting run.
Unfortunately a little later in time he seemed to grow a bit disillusioned and started posting some seriously trash content.
To put some perspective on it; the kid's still in high school. There are very few of us here that are still in high school, and even fewer that have any sort of clout. Yea, he is a horribly immature person to begin with, but it is only exacerbated by the fact that he is, what, 7 years younger than the average age?
Again, he did bring some of this on himself. But if anything this is a tragic story of someone who come into our community with seemingly unbounded enthusiasm, really wanting to make a change for the better, but over time was whittled down to a dick who is the butt of jokes.
Also, I clearly made a mistake by not going down in a ball of flames (pun intended), so that stratos can make more videos about me. Expect in the near future a thread about how I will be casting old school games of my favorite player, Reeech, and how all the other casters need to adopt the one true form of casting: text based commentary.

4 marines against 5 firebats with medic support why bother even microing your marines ? . Pucca trying to do the impossible here by microing marines he could have just fall back and probably that's why it is funny.
1, I have barely any idea of the meta stuff going on here;
2, He seemed enthusiastic but not really mature about how his content was welcomed - heck, he's a teenager how else could he have behaved? 3, His "series"(?) reminded me to finally watch the early MSLs I've never watched.
i completely missed all of this. you old folks just goof around on the BW forum instead of playing the game! stop harassing high school boys and start increasing your
I think this thread is really mean-spirited. The guy is still in high-school and this was clearly a large part of his life at the time. When I was a teenager I also would not have taken criticism well and probably would have even taken it personally.
Some people can get 100 positive comment and then 1 negative one will upset them. If somebody directed a negative comment and most of us who have commented in this thread we wouldn't give a shit, we might respond but it wouldn't really bother our day-to-day lives. Whereas this stuff is clearly really affecting the guy, he's gone from being really positive and enthusiastic to bitter and disliking what he was previously passionate about.
If you look at some of the stuff in his final blog post it's clear he took what was intended as constructive criticism badly. Look at Sayle's comment for example:
Without watching any of your other games or any of your casts, I already know that you have no understanding of that matchup.
Now I'm not blaming Sayle by any means, I'm not saying he did anything wrong, just using this as an example, but look at how pucca internalised this. He, like most of us, has a lot of respect for Sayle, and then he gets a comment from who he reveres the most that he feels is dismissing what he's been working on. He could have taken it like "right, I need to learn a lot more and improve" but unfortunately he took it negatively, which he did for most things.
There's a really fine line between joking at someone's expense and bullying, and he's clearly taking everything since as bullying. I don't like how everyone is treating him as a joke now because he was clearly very emotionally invested in it and taken it all to heart. I'm not denying the guy said some silly things but what is bullying him further really going to achieve?

I check out his last post and according to one of his statement
Pucca: I came this site looking for more info regarding the mod SC2BW. I found the BW section and started to active these forums. I became a caster for iCCup and this is when I realized being a iCCup admin had its drawbacks. People on TL don't like you. If I addresses myself as iCCup.Fitz is would be a completely different conversation.

Except you missed out the most important part, which is the part I quoted from him saying he thinks he "knows the core of all MU". That arrogance/delusion/whatever is the fundamental reason why he got so much hate. Having atrocious game knowledge isn't a sin. Having atrocious game knowledge while acting like you know everything is. The things that annoyed me the most were when he would try to speak on behalf of the BW community and say things that most people in fact disagreed with. For example, I think there was some discussion in the HD AoE2 thread (not 100% sure it was this thread) about BW getting an HD remix and many BW players talked about how they actually preferred the current look. Then Pucca comes in all "guys, isn't an HD 3D remix what we all wanted?" He acted like some sort of spokesperson for the BW scene when he had no idea what he was talking about. Bakuryu even tried to point out to him that most people disagreed with his opinion but he just completely ignored him. Similar situations occurred with his overlay ideas. I posted a couple of polls in his thread that showed the majority of viewers didn't like his excessive overlays but he somehow decided that he in fact knew best and completely ignored everyone.
Yeah okay, I wasn't sure whether I should reply as I wasn't following the full story and was unaware of stuff like that. I'm not arguing some of the feedback he got was undeserved, I just think that as it is somebody quite young that it's gone on a bit far and there's too many jokes at his expense.
On May 21 2013 21:24 moktira wrote: I just think that as it is somebody quite young that it's gone on a bit far and there's too many jokes at his expense.
I think a large part of that is because despite requesting a perma-ban, he keeps making new accounts and posting ridiculous shit (see: 'Legionnaire is a nobody' or when he pretends to be his 'friend'...). If it really bothered him, you'd think he'd stop doing that.
If it didn't bother him surely he would stop and just leave though. I don't know, if he was older I wouldn't care but whenever I see younger less mature people taking things personally I get a bit worried for them cause you don't know how it will effect them. If they calm down and becomes less arrogant for example that's fine but if it looks like their taking it really badly and sort of melt down I don't think everyone laughing at them will help.

I agree. I wasn't really active when all the Pucca drama was going on. And I actually thought the OP was about mending relationships at first. I don't have much I can say in either direction, but I hope the guy is doing well at least in life.

MV is IU - Good Day. Enjoy it, it's epic. IU comeback soon btw! Yes, this whole thread was made to unobtrusively smuggle the news of her approaching comeback into the Brood War forums.
Or was it? As I pointed out in the OP, Pucca somewhat reminds me of my own behaviour back in my highschool days, which is partly why I made this thread.
Someone mentioned that Pucca can be a good contributor to this community if he manages to supress his rage issues, and up until his 'Pucca vs the BW world' thread series, I thought so as well and I supported him as I would support any other aspiring caster or contributor. I wouldn't mind his outbursts towards the community as well, as much as I love TL. But Pucca attacked the game, Brood War, a couple of times. I would like to believe he acted on impulse or in anger, but I think there's more to it. I just don't think he truly loves it. Hell, these days I can't even tell if he likes it. Any good community contributor should unquestionably accept the game with its flaws, in one way or another. Because otherwise, you will most likely end up being sad, mad, angry or whatever Pucca might feel reading this.
I've seen far too many people wear out their stay in the community just for this type of attention whoring that, no matter how hard they try, will ultimately bring them a significant amount of hate. This, and I can't stress this enough, is especially true for a CASTER. A caster just cannot be caught with his pants down, hating on the game he's supposed to be selling to others. How many of us got hooked upon the game through someone's commentary? How many of us felt betrayed by the caster switching to a different game or even directly criticising it afterwards. We could argue if we have any kind of right to feel that way, but the fact is, it's like that for a lot of us and it's not going to change.
I think Pucca would do well to take a moment and consider why he's actually going to be sitting, talking to himself for like 4 hours on a day where nothing has happened. Do you like this game? Do you think you can love it? Find that out for yourself, if you care enough. Then your casting can be sincere and you can connect with the audience. And at least as far as I'm concerned, you will then always be welcome in the community. Even if your overlays suck balls or they just don't exist at all.
I didn't feel this sincerity from you, Pucca. It would be apparent in various ways that I shall not discuss, but clearly I wasn't the only one who felt this way. And you keep proving me right with your recent threads. I hope you can get over whatever rage this thread may have induced, and accept that the hate is partly coming your way for a reason. Some people were laughing at you behind your back, some may have harassed you directly. We can hopefully use this thread to draw some kind of a line here.
What's been done has been done, it's stored in this thread. We can look at it 5 years later and have a good laugh. If you want to start anew and prove me wrong, I'll be wishing you good luck and offer assistance. If you want to stop trying, sorry and gg. If you want to acknowledge you don't really care and just move on, good for you. If you want to continue your senseless shitposting, well, I guess I failed altogether.
As mad as it might sound, I think this thread is a good opportunity for you to choose and follow either of the 3 ways. I did not include the last part in the video to laugh at you. I also didn't name the thread a comeback for nothing. I wanted to show there might be something there and you could after all become a valued member in this community. It might be just a naive hope, but it's there. I do feel quite sad about how things turned out and got to this state, but at this point, the only one who can change that is you.

no need to feel sorry for pucca. he may be young but he's gone out of his way to try and dredge up drama while being completely ignorant to informed opinions being presented to him in reasonable manners. Over time it's just gotten to this stage. just enjoy the comic sans

Now close the thread and go fucking do it. whatever it is.
I wish someone would care this much abt me, either positive or negative.
we don't care about him, we just want him to leave to community or stfu since he has proven he is just a utterly respectless imbecil
I can't understand the amount of stupidity needed to love such treatment.
Yes this guy have some problem with himself, but i see lot of name here that match this description and i don't see such hate toward them.
Playing with the flaw of someone to end it by a public 100 vs 1 bash ? you must be proud to have found some friend who can share your lack of humanity.
Yes Pucca is F- on BW, yes he made some really absurd post on TeamLiquid, but really, make such humiliation and most of you make a standing ovation ?
Funny OP. I didn't know too much about this, but what he did was stupid, and Stratos wrote enough good shit to make whatever I say a waste of space on TL. Pretending to know shit puts you in a position with numbered days where you either succeed in fooling the rest or the true face is shown. Hope he knows his errors, I guess.

It would be a crime for me to explain the intentions of stratos and the reason he made it this way and reading from his words I see NO malicious intention to make Pucca a clown for us to jeer and laugh at . Read his comment below...

I am currently in Sweden, the fact you decided to compile (Pucca's (My)) errors helps (Pucca (Me)) how? You essentially screwed over any chance of him on a come back onto TL...
@Sayle
I laugh at your from my Swedish home. I made those polls for tournament organizers to see how they want their broadcasts. When iCCup allows me to setup my casts, on a different site on a different community I will do as I please unless I am told otherwise by a majority of iCCup users and administration.
A friendly recommendation to you as a caster however, you may have stated (Pucca, Me) have horrible game sense. I would agree. However, you are not much better. Focus on what the players are doing instead of your own tangents in the middle of the game and seem so uninterested...
FYI I have no personality disorder. Lanzo did post that post (a week?) ago. My brother did hack my account as a practical joke.
There seemed to be a need for a sponsor for the next BW Map Open I may help sponsor but nothing more related to that tour. Have a nice day ^_^

How's life in Sweden? Give it a day or two, perhaps a week, or more if you have to, rest some, don't forget to have fun, then try to focus and surely you can find the answer to your very own question. Since it's a good question, there is in fact an answer and it's a good one too.
The wall that stands in the way of your return to this community right now isn't this thread, it's your behaviour. It's childish or, if you prefer, it is bad. It's been like that for a while now, but the warnings, bans and nukes apparently didn't ring the bell. So, just like a bad kid, you just got spanked by your future father e-figure Stratos and, hopefully, your butt hurts at least a little now. It's good you at least seem to recognize some of your moves as errors now. Remember the pain well if you want to avoid it in the future. I'll let you know that my hands are rather gentle compared to what you'll be facing in the real world. Seek the answer to your question as it might help guide you on your journey~
It seems childish to ban users based on personal opinions of another person. It's not like anything that was said was super harsh it was more just reiterating what was already known about this person. This game is going to die off and it's already hard enough to get games on iCCup, but now you take away people that actually do still play this game? Seems like some angry children with a grudge to me.
Some questions : It this a public bashing thread ? Why this thread isn't yet locked ? Why Comic sans ?
I'm really sad seeing the small BW community being splitted like this tt. At least put this as a blog, not in the BW section... I'm not defending Pucca (I don't know him personally) but this kind of initiatives causes some hard reactions from the other side, which is, if I'm not wrong, the goal ? To hit back again... we don't really need this.
I still think this was pretty mean (mostly because he can't defend himself, and we have no way of knowing if the smurf poster is Pucca or a poser) but I still love Stratos 1,000,000%
This would be funny if we were talking about some real douchebag, but I find this hard to laugh at because I considered Pucca a friend at one point, and it's been very hard for me to watch him meltdown and withdraw from the BroodWar community. He did that entirely to himself, and it was almost like watching a friend kill themselves with heroin.

I agree. <3
Pucca was really nice at the start, but then the dark side took him.
is Gecko actually a sith lord who has been using iCCup to secretly gather his forces to now finally take revenge on the benevolent Jedi home forum of TL? or is it the other way around, with dOTY corrupting the minds of the TL population and staff through the TLS to plot against the righteous admin council of iCCup? OH MY GATT, THESE GERMANS!!! Pucca is just a pawn in this game, used as a tool by calculating puppet masters whose goals we can't even comprehend
I hope you didn't just call Iccup the Dark side here, that would be.. really mean.
Anyway. Looking back past the heavy nostalgia, it was indeed foolish of me to attempt to make fun of an Iccup Admin, who himself has always been behaving up to Iccup's best standards around here on Teamliquid. I'll work hard in the future to live up to these standards too, and I'd like to apologize to the community for the issues my rash and immature behaviour may have triggered.
While I do not fully understand what lead the Iccup admin team to the steps they have taken towards the community as a whole, I do not consider my opinion of the Iccup TV Super Admin a case worth arguing over under such circumstances. Or, as Glioburd puts it, I don't think we really needs this. I just wish to adopt Sayle and raise him well with Nina by my side.
So, while I won't go back on any of my words, if it helps anything, I'd like to ask a mod to lock this thread, as a simple gesture.

in case you were serious; unlike the general population here (it seems), i like both Gecko and iCCup. personally i never had any problems with either of them.
What is this supposed to be? I am not entirely sure, what it is Stratos attempted to do here, but here's the problem: It reeks of ridicule and defamation way too much. It's mean and kind of low, don't you think, especially when you are kicking one who's already down...
And that whole "the real world is even worse" attitude doesn't help. Here's some info for you: The "real world" actually destroys people, and not few of them. It's like saying "I am allowed to hit my children, because the homicidal sociopath next door rapes his wife"...
As for the actual problem, that is Pucca's trolling - you know how they say? - Don't feed the trolls. There are good reasons for that. And it's probably the best chance if you really want him too cool of a bit and maybe get a second chance...

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't find this thread funny, hilarious even, but I still don't think it's appropriate. Don't get me wrong, Pucca has said and done a bunch of stupid things (not the least of which is the reaction to this thread), but singling him out and mocking him like this is still not fair, in my opinion. Especially given that he has no reasonable way of defending himself and/or responding to this thread.
I'm not defending his actions or anything like that. I read and commented on a couple of his blogs, and while he was never disrespectful or mean to me personally, I've seen him act that way towards others. That's not acceptable. This thread, while occasionally very witty and certainly well written, is both disrespectful and mean to Pucca -- whether or not that was the intent. I don't think that's okay either.
Of course, Pucca's reaction to this thread is also far from okay, but that's besides the point.

First of I think the Russian community is amazing and secondly I do take offense to being flamed for nicely asking if they could let us know about these things. I was using the NW community as a comparison because I am sure it took them minimal effort to make an announcement thread in English and they actually did a lot more they provided English commentary which was more than enough IMHO.
It's not their obligation to let us know, but it would be nice. I usually don't miss a single event and I follow it at to some extent except for the Russian LANs because an announcement is usually made as it is happening or pictures are posted after the fact.
Ohh and I don't know why, but I just don't feel like browsing foreign sites to find information such as this. I somehow feel like I am not alone in this.
and thats just a writeup it doesn't actually say anything about future LAN events.
You demanded, you did not ask. People demand all the time. They want this, they want that, but do you actually lift a finger to help out when there is need? Most of the time this page's community focuses on really badly organized events, such as the SBWI Nation Wars, people for some reason add these to Liquipedia on their own, keep the pages updated. I am not blaming the staff, more the readers of this sub forum. Read up the previous news and forum threads - nothing about non-TL.net events, or non-Game/Eywa events. The Russians delivered proof time and time again that literally all their events, ranging from the Defiler Series to the Nostalgia League and the RU KOTH, are far, far superior to ANYTHING else, both in terms of organization and quality of games.
Obviously many of them have a hard time to post in English, yoda is a good example. His English is good enough to communicate on a basic level, but to really promote? That needs work. He has a life. Largo did good coverage when he had time, but he also really did organize shit himself. They do not have a giant crew that helps them out. How arrogant it is of people like you to just accuse these guys of not telling you shit, when they really tried. Unlike Korea they did not try to with isolation policy, they never ignored non Russians. It's just very hard to spend additional time to do something out of your own language when you have little to no help. It would be way, way easier for you to accept that there are different pages with a right to exist.
What is so hard for you to randomly check Defiler maybe once or twice a week or go to reps.ru and see if there's a new and interesting head line? You don't even need to be able to speak Russian to realize if there's a new Defiler Tour or a new LAN coming up, the banners are mostly enough. DEFILER EVEN ADDS THIS INFO IN ENGLISH. Once you got the info, just ask any Russian to help you out. They do that shit. That's how I got to know more about the scene. I'm definitely not part of any super secret inner Russian circle. I guess actually talking to people is too hard for someone sitting in his chair, demanding to be entertained.
I personally gave up on the idea to post their events here, they never get much attention, I don't know why. Maybe because they don't throw around random insults at everybody, maybe because they don't randomly ban people, maybe because they did never rig an entire league, maybe because they do not actively promote ex-hackers with an excessive list of BM history everywhere, maybe because they play fair. Maybe because they actually care that games are being played, maybe because it is only about Brood War, less about people talking over games or post "XDX DXD XDXD :D:D:D:D GOGO BROOD WAR :D:D:D XDXDXDD" in each thread just to get a higher post count.
And then he decided to single-handedly fuck over the entire teamliquid community by banning key community members and causing complications with the TLS qualifiers.
so you guys at TL decided your very pissed at ICCup and looked for a nice, immature way of expressing it? Good plan to dig up the pucca story. Lets troll the troll. In Comic sans. No suprise Gecko got in ban distribution mode to me. I expected a somewhat more mature fashion to handle this situation. Very disappointing to me.

I think the implication of conspiracy is the funniest thing I've seen in this thread so far. Amazing.
