Is it a lot of work? Yes

Is Brood War worth it? Not for me, perhaps for someone else though.

Let me ask you this.
So you're going to organize leagues/tours or not?

Given your history of bashing everyone who's ever tried to do something, I don't really care about anything you'd post. You're the type or person that causes people to want to stop working for BW. I've never heard of anyone who's had to deal with you and be like "oh, kiante is a delight"... Not from Nation Wars, not from anywhere. Bash Bash Bash and never try to do anything that would involve work or a risk.

I'm so upset people don't think i'm a delight but the "no work" part is probably a bit of an exaggeration.

doesn't change my main point, if bw is just not worth your time, why are you still here trying to whore attention with how you totally would have raised the 38k you promised but didn't bother raising. why go to the bother of trying to get everyone to bow down and give you some love for a tournament you never intended to make.

Because I'm still creating a LAN with a prize pool equal to ISL3? Which stands as the biggest BW event in years... I really don't understand the confusion there, I can't host that if I'm not present on TL. Also, I'm laying down the foundation so that someone can pick up from where this one left off if the tournament is a success.

Kiante... Do I have to spell everything out for you?

You can shoot the guy for promising more than he can provide and end up with nothing or you can accept that he messed up, however, is still doing more good than most others.

Your logic and decision making is so primitive, if man thought like this since the beginning of existence, we'd all be extinct by now.

I was lurking this whole time, never saying anything but LMAO..... nothing originally announced was delivered. Why do you still do stuff for BW if its not worth it to you anyways?
You mean ESPORTS isnt a synonym for SC2? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -Proud owner of a Filco Majestouch 2 with Cherry Blue Switches- BW or SC2? Why not both?

It's funny how people didn't need to bash you in any way, you dug a whole so deep you hit China. I am in full agreement with Kiante, because you really didn't do much for the bw community anyway.

Kiante ran the entire ThSL. He made it so that I, as a complete technophobe, just had to join a game and answer a Skype call.

The same is true of the Gem League.

As someone who has worked with him, I will honestly say that Kiante put in a ton of effort for both the original Gem League and the ThSL. With no expectation of a large audience, he woke up at six in the morning (again, to facilitate my not having to stay up too late). I was a total fucking primadonna and Kiante made everything work as well as he possibly could.

Then, as though that weren't enough, I very much made it the running joke of both of those tournaments that, when there was downtime, I would poke fun at Kiante for being boring, raging, antipodean, or having a speech impediment.

I've just been watching all of this unfold, and until now I think I've been pretty hands off because the truth is that I don't really know too much about tournaments or their operation. The reason I don't know too much about those things is because I never had to learn... because Kiante handled it all for me.

You can sit here and say anything you want, but allow me to be the first to say, whole heartedly, "Kiante is a delight to work with."

I'm sure Trozz and Torenhire would say the same thing.

Well, yes, this sorry excuse of a tournament that you're trying to host is obviously not a "top foreigner" tournament, so what makes the host of "Eywa and friends' incoherent circus show" qualified to speak for anyone whose opinions we'd actually care about?

"Is Brood War worth it? Not for me, perhaps for someone else though."

I sincerely hope you get banned from this site. Since BW is no longer worth it for you, I'm sure you won't be too upset.

Wow, interesting story. But, i dont get - what are hockey cards? Why people do buy them? Is it tradition in Canada?
Sad, that all this failed. Most ppl thought that Eywa was drawing dead from beginning. Really sad. I see that Eywa is a good guy, who wants to do good things, but spiritual immaturity ruined everything.

I really do respect Eywa for all he wanted to do.

But making announce w/o having money - is a sad way to go out.

They're collector items, same reason people collect lunch boxes, action figures, etc etc. It's more passion based than $ incentive, just turns out some of them are worth a lot to some people.

This is a thread in the BW section announcing that some guy thinks he can make 50k selling hockey cards? I don't even know what a hockey card is or what they do. Is this how Canadians gamble?

This really deserves to be made into a blog to get more publicity so I decided to go make a blog to increase the attention on this wonderful topic which you can find here. You can thank me later.

I told everyone that this would happen, it was very obvious. You are only doing the BW foreign scene so much more harm than good eywa, I will not be surprised if the ' invite only ' tournaments fall through too, so ridiculous man. Get over yourself and actually put in the time to try to help the scene, if you can't put in the time then just stop trying.

You are not omniscient and you are not a god or a figure head, you have to actually TRY and PUT IN WORK AND TIME to help the scene, people are not going to just bow down to you, but as I expected you got what was coming, and you deserve it all. Best of luck and God speed eywa.... wake up.

I honestly don't know what to say to you, besides the fact that I don't know what you've been using your time on TL for in the last two years. It's a shame that on the eve of your two year anniversary here on Teamliquid you have still yet to figure out some of this community's most common thread archetypes.

lmao, the OP confused the hell out of me. I had to reread a couple times. So a fundraiser for old people to buy hockey cards was the solution to funding a tournament.

From page 2 on gave me a lot of laughs however.

On Topic: Seems like this guy just lost his credibility with the BW community and I think that's a big enough punishment.

In his honor I will be holding a Dentures fundraiser that I have been collecting from the mouths of sleeping old celebrities. These rare dentures will now be auctioned off to more old people and the proceeds will go to a 300 person LAN where the finalist will 1v1 Rekrul in a best of 99 where resources are gained based on the number of BM and shit talking done to your opponent.

Is Brood War worth it? Not for me, perhaps for someone else though.

That is all I need to understand to see what worth a person is. You lack passion within what you want to do. Please leave, and don't come back until you have your life straightened out first. You seem to lack social skills if you're expecting us to give you high regards for things you have planned out, yet have no drive to do.

It is only an embarrassment to your online persona you wish to take when presenting yourself here.

I thought I was the villain of the BW foreign scene, I am glad that Eywa- took all the heat off my back. I think you meant ' Or live long enough to become a villain yourself " or " Live long enough for yourself to become a villain " :-P

Blah... Eywa- I hope you do something to redeem yourself, but the probability of that happening are about the same as me selling my 1st Edition, Limited edition, Japanese Charizard, and then hosting a Tournament for foreign BW players in africa.

Assuming you make all the money you do from hockey cards (based on your list of things with revenue), you make $5600 per year. At about 50 work weeks per year, and 40 hours per week, you make $2.8. I'm fairly sure making that little per hour is illegal.

OH NO, NINA IS POSTING IN THE THREAD.

So, some quick questions, which are really not troll-questions. Really. Really really. First, will qualifiers still receive the following:

Top Qualifiers receive
- Free Transport
- Free 4-5 Star Accommodation
- Free Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
- Free Gaming Seat

As this was mentioned in the prior post.

The prize pool initially reported was substantially larger than the 3600-dollar pool here (still really impressive)

Prize Breakdown
$18000
$6000
$3000
$1400
$600
$450
$200

And you gave your assurances that this money was already procured for the tournament. I understand you are going to host LANs in other locations, but if the prizepools for the following this LAN and the Moscow LAN combined would be about 14400 dollars, which is substantially lower than the original almost-40,000 dollar prize pool announced, which again, you said you already had available. What is the reason for the drop in prize money? Are you spending more [of the total] money on the venues, accommodations, etc.?

See FAQ.

Q: What happened to the money original Euro thread boasted?
A: It's still there (Grand Finals)

Not to mention the 3 other events aside from the grand final.

Guys, the money is still there. Don't worry!

Thanks for everything you've done until now Eywa, but you neglected organizing/updating tournaments, and frankly, this is not the way to do what you've set to do. You should take a step back and start from the basics. The best thing you can do is: Get some people to help you and take baby steps. Having a big vision is awesome, but you don't just leap into it, you slowly work towards it.

It's certainly humorous, but for this thread to be your favorite one in all of TL history? Surely there are more deserving candidates...

It's quite remarkable that people don't think that money can be made off of what is a million dollar industry, however I'm not really surprised... I mean, it's easy to miss-place something you've never seen before as impossible.

What sheep said. I think this thread is hilarious, but I think it's got a long way to go before it reaches epic masterpiece tier.

What the hell are you talking about? I've been agreeing with you the whole time? I just think we need to shift our focus to a more reliable audience with stable income to support not only one, but multiple Starcraft tournaments.

Maybe you should hustle up the money first and then host the tournament when you have all the money, that would seem like the logical thing to do don't you think. How old are you Eywa? Probably too young to do something like this.

You know...the fast food industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. If you buy burgers in bulk and resell them, you could potentially make $40k a year, and that's being conservative! Everyone needs to eat, so why not burgers???

Maybe one day Eywa could open a Burger joint called " BW n Burgers " and use it to make money for the foreign BW scene.

I haven't really followed what lead up to this thread, but just saw the title in the BW section and got curious as I like mathematics. This is what I got out of it.

1. Some guy says that to get money to organise BW events, all you have to do is sell hockey cards to Canadian seniors every wekeend for a year.
2. but you need to spend a lot of time on sorting them first.
3. Everyone starts flaming the shit out of him.
4. Some Russians pop by with internal jokes.
5. Kiante heloped sirjolt at some other tourney.
6. More jokes with references to things I don't understand.
7. Hufflepuff gets 5 points.
8. Hockey card market is $$srs$$ $$bsns$$.
1 - 8: no Maths.

I'm so confused....
Is it me behind the cards?

Or this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, or this. You could totally keep up on this, or this while you're at it.

If THSL and all "this" didn't satisfy your foreign BW cravings, don't fret, you could catch up on this, this, this, this, or this. I may have forgotten some. However, if you're into the lower skilled players (I wouldn't blame you, they're more fun to watch if you wanna see crazy strategy), that's a whole other post of this's.

"Some guy" aka Eywa, promised previously in the year to host and run a tournament in Europe called Euro Winter 2013, with a 38000 dollar prize pool. This is his explanation of where he is getting the money from. However, he also said when he made his announcement thread that he had the money, when he did not in fact have it at all. He also later said he would expand the tour into several Europe tours, while keeping the original one the same prizepool (I think) and also having even more money thrown at these other tours. Now he has cancelled all the tours, and is only sponsoring one tour for "only" a ~$3000 prizepool. While it's great that he is hosting the $1000 tour, everyone is flaming him because of his false promises.
The Russian internal jokes I can't entirely explain :kidca: Kiante's a pretty cool dude, pity he's Australian :"33333

Hopefully that brings you somewhat up to speed.

Also, Kiante is Australian? I don't know if it is his monotoneness but I always thought he was from some sort of poor Eastern European country and English wasn't his first language.

After reading the first two sentences and double checking that this was the right forum I was hoping you were going to suggest that we make BW cards and sell those. Seriously disappointed.
