There has been a surprising lack of WTF tweets. Does he finally have it under control? I'm curious to see how he acts in the next year. We can do strength without blowing up any more presidential norms.

I work 3 jobs which all averages to about 15/hr. I have no dependents and my federal deductions are about 20% and I sometimes see it nearly double to 38% when I get bonus incentives, so it basically just cancels it out (one of my jobs is retail). Would just be nice to see more of my pay the more I work instead of it working against me the more hours I put in. It’s really odd how taxes work like that.

It literally would be laughable if someone praised a grown man like this if it were anyone but Trump. This is fucking ridiculous

All I know is the US gives an awful lot in aid money to a lot of different people. If Trump did withdraw that money would that sort out the tax cuts issue, for example? Aside the obvious attempt to bully most of the western world for daring to voice an opinion, is this smart from a purely nationalistic, protectionist perspective (which the US is clearly in right now)?

The US has so many assets in so many different places that play a key role in facilitating military, commercial, and industrial influence; it'd be difficult to quantify all that, but I'd wager that it's not smart, not even in a purely nationalistic sense.

Total US foreign aid looks to be $51 billion. It's one third of the tax cuts (setting aside the massive problems with the tax cuts that go beyond increasing the debt). He also probably can't withdraw much of the money, maybe he could reallocate some; much of it would be set by congressional statute, and would be unlikely to change. US aid covers a large variety of things, so it's hard to get a full sense of what would change; basically a lot of poor countries would be mildly hurt by not having the thinsg they're currently getting. the US would lose a lot of international influence, and its alliances/friendships would be weakened. it's smart from a pleasing his base perspective; who like this tough guy attitude. protectionism is a bad idea; so it's hard for me to evaluate if something is smart from an inherently dumb perspective. it's probably dumb even from that perspective. the US has economic interests all over the world, it also has interests in peace which lets it make more profit from trade. and projecting economic power is generally alot more efficient than projecting military power, so mostly it just guts the more effective ways of dealing with problems before they become bigger problems. I imagine some of the US foreign aid is do-gooderism; but from a cynical perspective a lot of it is simply making markets more open/friendly to the US so the US can get more money out of them.
