NPR receives like 5% of their funding through the Federal government. They learned long ago not to rely them.

Guess it's a good indication that it's a waste of time to watch though.

I wonder how many times we have to confirm this before people just come to terms with the obvious truth that Trump talked out of his ass based on Breitbart news.

Until the White House admits that is what happened and withdraws the claim. He accused the previous US president of committing a felony with no evidence. And he is the head of the federal branch that charges people with crimes.

Like here in the Netherlands we've had multiple ministers get removed from office in the past few years for lying to parliament about much more trivial things. But it was the lying that caused them to have to leave office because they lost trust from the representatives.

It's because he's rolling with the GOP's agenda, the GOP currently control more than half the government, and they're not willing to destroy their party over the country apparently. So they let him lie, let him continue lying, and don't call him out on his bullshit. At least, that's my perspective on things as of recent.

But it was the lying that caused them to have to leave office because they lost trust from the representatives. legally, yes he is allowed. it's supposed to have higher standards, but there's no real enforcement mechanism. if he lied to congress, or otherwise under oath, that might matter; but nearly all of his statements aren't made under oath, so perjury wouldn't apply. other lying is at most grounds for a lawsuit, which is extremely hard to win in things like this (political insults). and enough of the american public either believes his lies, or doesn't mind them enough to want ot remove him from office for them.

Trump org/surrogates/campaign under investigation for russia ties(expected). Wiretap claim was refuted (completely expected that trump just saw something on tv and tweeted about it without any fact checking). Also the interesting thing is Comey blatantly expressed the amount of misinformation in the media via these unsourced leaks. These leaks required a leap of faith from the american people that I was initially skeptical to take, but now that Comey has said that especially in the last 2 months, there has been a lot of misinformation in the reporting of classified leaks, and he even went out of his way to say that the reporting has been unusually active. For a man who is basically very careful with his words, and is trying his best to not comment, out right saying 'unusually active' was a bit unexpected. So basically no one to trust, abandoning the politics ship

Congress is hated much worse, I think Hillary is even lower on approval than Trump, and the only politicians of repute with a largely positive rating are... Mike Pence and Bernie Sanders. Hillary? Isn't she hiding in a forest or something? I thought she was politically out the game entirely. What's she up to now?

The biggest fallout in the long term of the DNC leaks, besides possibly tipping the election, is how they legitimized leaking on a large scale. And the best thing about anonymous sources is that neither reporters nor readers can always tell the difference between credible anonymous sources and non-credible ones. Good reporters can tell the difference between a creditable and bullshit source. It is up the citizens to pick out those reporters who use good judgment.
