Wait, you mean that people pulled the exact same trick on Trump that others were going to pull on Clinton? But the tape was way more damning than any of the garbage wikileaks found? Shocking. It's almost like Trump a garbage human and there is endless evidence of it.

In the Tie/minor +Trump of the debate, the moderation was 0.o I keep on lowering my expectations and they keep on beating them. At some point, it might be time to realize that it isn't the moderator's fault that these debates are a disaster. Maybe it's the disaster that they have to try to moderate. I also found it amusing that, of course, Trump + his supporters started whining about how unfair everything was the moment the debate started. I don't understand these grades or win loss talk. Both failed miserably and by epic proportions.
Each question was the equivalent of being asked to write an essay on the validity of absolute morals and turning in a paper about why we need more public parks.
Damn near every question was either completely ignored, or answered in the most tangential of ways as a way to talk about the very general case.
Given the way candidates answer questions and the inability of moderators to get them to answer the actual questions I wonder why they have moderators and questions in any case.
Huge Fs for both candidates as usual, and more or a less meaningless debate in terms of gaining any usual information.

I think he will see a tiny bump after this debate.

I think you have it backwards, Wikileaks released the speeches right after the tapes. I think anyway (after all, the tapes were going to air Monday until someone decided to send them to Fahrenholdt)

I'm confused. We KNOW how many points this debate performance will help him by but we do NOT know how much the tape will hurt him by?
I'm asking a simple subjective question to you (and all trump supporters for that matter). If we accept that he will drop in the polls as a result of the tape (does anyone actually think he will go up or stay the same on it?), and that he will gain some points for this debate, because he didn't shit the bed like last time, then do you think the bump will be bigger than the drop?
I for one can't imagine it being enough to even cover his losses, let alone make up ground necessary for him to have any shot of winning on Nov. 8.

That seems like at least somewhat selective hearing. Clinton, for example, gave a pretty direct and concrete answer on Energy and the role of renewable resources going forward. Though it was a bit of the exception instead of the norm.

We also have to remember that the effects of this debate and the recording of Trump will be recorded on the same polls. It's very likely that any possible gain that Trump would've gotten from this debate is going to be dragged down by the recordings in the polls, and then those polls will influence public opinion as well.

You were asking me how unreleased tapes, the contents of which are an unknown, will change the polls
I think the bump will outweigh the drop of the tape that is already out. Will it hold up when 'other tapes' are released? I don't know those are still unknowns

Anyone watching the 538 live stream? Nate Silver just mentioned some poll that shows a tie/slight Clinton win, and I didn't catch which poll it was.
Fact checkers everywhere also killing Trump, but that isn't a surprise.
|
I for one dont think this debate will even give trump a bump even if it was close. He is already getting ripped a new one for breaking with pence. That and the wealth of soundsbites the media have gotten from russia to sex tapes, to his taxes are just more damming. What do you got from hillary, yes she came off a little weak but nothing really else. Kinda the pence debate where at first it seemed like he won but afterward the when the impact really set in it was a plus for hillary

Yeah, didn't catch the name of the poll either. Believe they said 47/42 Clinton

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton clashed for the second time at a town hall-style debate in St Louis, Missouri on Sunday Night.
According to YouGov's post-debate poll, which interviewed 812 registered voters who watched the debate, Hillary Clinton won the debate against Donald Trump by 47% to 42%. Clinton narrowly won undecideds 44% to 41%. She was also considered “more Presidential” by a 57% to 31% margin. There was a gender gap, however: women though Clinton won 50-38% while men thought Trump won 46-43%.
This page will be updated with additional details.

I'd call it a draw. Perhaps a net benefit for Trump because I think he did a really good job of damage control on the tape issue, while burning Hillary pretty effectively on some of the many things that people don't like about her. His criticism on Libya is one of the rare times that he is both on point and going against what the general Republican line is on that story. On policy Hillary gave more effective answers, but I'd say the Trump supporters will be happy with him here.
