Fact checkers everywhere also killing Trump, but that isn't a surprise. This is the "fact-checking" we're dealing with and it's why you don't want moderators purporting to be authoritative, which is why I respected when Anderson Cooper caught himself overextending and shut up at one point after interrupting.

According to YouGov's post-debate poll, which interviewed 812 registered voters who watched the debate, Hillary Clinton won the debate against Donald Trump by 47% to 42%. Clinton narrowly won undecideds 44% to 41%. She was also considered “more Presidential” by a 57% to 31% margin. There was a gender gap, however: women though Clinton won 50-38% while men thought Trump won 46-43%.
This page will be updated with additional details. https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/10/09/post-debate-poll/
Not surprising, but I want to see that quick poll that CNN always throws out post-debates, which is apparently surprisingly accurate and respectable.

Believe they said 47/42 Clinton It is only going to get worst. Vowing to jail or prosecute his opponent if elected is all anyone is going to talk about beyond was is already on the table. That was a stupid thing to open with.

Of everything to break with Pence on, the Russia stuff looks transcendentally bad if there's even a small bit of info out there with more Trump campaign-Russia connections. That's one of my big takeaways. Gay marriage? Abortion? Maybe more reasonable.

The CNN focus group only had 1 person raise their hand for Trump.

Each question was the equivalent of being asked to write an essay on the validity of absolute morals and turning in a paper about why we need more public parks.
Damn near every question was either completely ignored, or answered in the most tangential of ways as a way to talk about the very general case.
Given the way candidates answer questions and the inability of moderators to get them to answer the actual questions I wonder why they have moderators and questions in any case.
Huge Fs for both candidates as usual, and more or a less meaningless debate in terms of gaining any usual information. That seems like at least somewhat selective hearing. Clinton, for example, gave a pretty direct and concrete answer on Energy and the role of renewable resources going forward. Though it was a bit of the exception instead of the norm.
In the general case yes. But still with a strong dodge component, as he specifically was asking the question about how job loss would be minimalized for fossil fuel workers. I don't recall Trump or Clinton responding to that aspect at all.
If they did, perhaps selective hearing in that case or bad memory.
However, that's still just one question of a dozen+

And I don't think it's the kind of debate performance more preparation can fix.
In the Tie/minor +Trump of the debate, the moderation was 0.o I keep on lowering my expectations and they keep on beating them. At some point, it might be time to realize that it isn't the moderator's fault that these debates are a disaster. Maybe it's the disaster that they have to try to moderate. I also found it amusing that, of course, Trump + his supporters started whining about how unfair everything was the moment the debate started. They're responsible for their own performance not the results. We could just have a robot voice read the questions and no one hold the candidates accountable for what they say? And then everyone would whine about the quality of the questions and who got to go first. The American people are the only ones to hold candidates accountable for what they say.
I don't care who whines about robots, that's a silly aside. American journalism can do better than the awful job shown today.

So if that's right he wouldn't walk anything back on a night like this.

Yougov and CNN flash polls are actually pretty well-respected and have been fairly predictive.
