I mean idealistically I like the libertarians and I think their vision for the world would be pretty great, but only operating in the social and economic equivalent of a frictionless vacuum for physicists. Where they lose me is when you point out that their model isn't a reflection of reality and then they double down on dogma. But in theory they can sign me up and probably would have signed me up 10 years ago.

edit. Yeah, this has been a pretty bad week for Trump. If the Clinton campaign could figure out how to intentionally get him to dance to their tune, they could have him boxing at everything but Hillary (mixed metaphors for the win). He seems to react to everything like a kitten batting a toy, so if you could throw enough sympathetic people at him to take one pot shot at him, he currently seems to lack much in the way of self control and would lash out at the next thing that crossed his path. Throw everyone at him but Hillary and see what happens.

I feel like he either wins by default or loses lol I've seen a lot of werid polls coming out with trump being slightly competitive in some bluer states and hillary in some redder states. conventional wisdom regarding the election doesn't really apply this season. I'd wait until 538 can stiffen up the picture a bit. but to answer your question directly I can see Hillarys campaign struggling with turnout and trump not having the independents breaking for him with equal measure.

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20160802/NEWS03/160809970/illinois-insurers-seek-obamacare-premium-hikes-of-up-to-45-percent (AP)—Health insurance premiums for Illinois residents who buy coverage through the Affordable Care Act's marketplace could increase by as much as 45 percent according to proposals submitted by insurers. The leading insurer on Illinois' exchange, Blue Cross Blue Shield, is proposing increases for 2017 ranging from 23 percent to 45 percent for individual health care plans, according to proposals posted by Heathcare.gov. Another insurer, Coventry Health Care of Illinois, proposed rate increases as high as 21 percent. Harken Health Insurance Company has proposed a nearly 29 percent hike in individual premiums and Health Alliance Medical Plans Inc. a more than 28 percent increase. "However, that must be done in a sustainable way," the statement said. "Premium rates must cover the anticipated health care needs of our members, and consumer protections exist in the way of rebates if a certain percent of premiums do not go directly to covering medical services and quality programs. " The proposed hikes have been expected because the health care law has been a financial drain for many companies.

As in, could the Republicans hypothetically withdraw their support, both financial and political, and nominate someone else now that Trump's nominated? From there own rules it would be really hard to dump trump by any means unless he withdraws himself [quote]t “the Republican National Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to fill any and all vacancies which may occur by reason of death, declination, or otherwise of the Republican candidate for President of the United States or the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States.”[./quote] They literally have no rule about outright removing a candidate so they would have to create a new one just to do that. And i can Guarantee trump would take them to court if they did. They can only fill vacancies Then there is the matter of state rules about ballots and the EC even if they could get trump out. Some states have laws that let the vote go to the party so they could just give the votes that trump would get to whoever they get to replace him but some states say the votes have to go to the person, does not matter if they are kicked. So if trump wanted to stay the Republicans would have to go to court to get the votes taken away from trump.

LAS VEGAS — Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is quick to warn Hillary Clinton and her campaign of over-confidence in her battle against Donald Trump, but he expects the Democratic nominee to campaign in both Georgia and Arizona — both traditionally Republican states at the presidential level — before November. “If you look at Georgia — Georgia, last re-elect for President Obama, he never stepped foot in Georgia, but yet he lost by about three percent. Georgia’s Hillary Clinton’s, and I’m glad she’s going to be campaigning there,” the Nevada senator told reporters here, noting that he also expects Clinton to campaign in Arizona. After introducing the Democratic nominee at a campaign rally held in an IBEW hall here, Reid also praised the campaign and super PAC’s decision to scale back advertising in Colorado and Virginia, which look to be trending Clinton’s way. “This is unbelievable. Utah. Utah! Utah — you know, they don’t like Trump — he’s their nominee. I know that’s far-fetched, but I think they’re going to be sending people out to Utah." “I hope the map is expanded,” he added, repeatedly cautioning that he wants Democrats not to grow too optimistic about their chances. “That’d be good for the country." I feel like he either wins by default or loses lol I think it would take something MAJOR for her to lose. Like a career of dubious business dealings to enrich her and her husband's foundation, or constant lies and blatant pandering, an extremely spotty voting record of things Democrats care about, or maybe it turns out that the primaries were rigged heavily against her opponent. Honestly, she's done so much shady shit, Americans who matter don't care about ethics in their elected politicians and those who do care don't matter.

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2016/08/04/us/04reuters-usa-election-clinteastwood.html Clint Eastwood, the 86-year-old four-time Oscar winner, excoriated the current generation of Americans as weak and overly sensitive while backing Donald Trump even though the Republican presidential hopeful has "said a lot of dumb things." Eastwood, a prominent celebrity supporter of the Republican Party who appeared at its 2012 U.S. presidential nominating convention, offered a harsh assessment of Americans in an interview with Esquire magazine published on Wednesday. "He's onto something because secretly everybody's getting tired of political correctness, kissing up," the acclaimed actor and director said of Trump. "That's the kiss-ass generation we're in right now. We're really in a pussy generation. Everybody's walking on eggshells."

Oh and now hackers and cyber security folks are taking side for Hillary. Curiously, asking America's most prominent ennemy to hack the US democracy was not a great idea at the end.. Man.. That's one hell of a trainwreck. Trump seem to be taking the grand slam of alienating every single category of the population..
