No thanks. I'll keep my pride.

Just think of all the fiscal conservative things you could do with all these minority votes. You could delete the estate tax forever and maybe even get a flat tax system. Embrace the minority votes, let their power flow through you.

Didn't you argue against me when I said the main reason the minority vote is skewed so heavily in favor of democrats is because of pandering?

Or was that someone else

No, I have never argued that. I have argued that the GOP decided back in the days of Nixon to ditch minority votes to the democrats in favor of winning the south. And they never really stopped.

This is inaccurate...

Blacks started their shift to being Democrat voters during the 1930s because the New Deal programs were less discriminatory against blacks than government programs previously had been.

This gradual drift continued through the 1940s and 1950s until by the end of the 50s about 2/3 of blacks voted Democratic (today it is 90%+). In the 1960 campaign, JFK publicly spoke out in favor of civil rights after some high-profile racist incidents while Nixon, who to that point had been more publicly pro-civil rights than Kennedy, spoke privately in favor of civil rights to black community leaders but did not do so publicly because he thought he had a chance to beat Kennedy in some parts of the then-Democratic stronghold of the South, and talking publicly about civil rights as forcefully as he had in the past would end that chance. Then Goldwater was portrayed as defending a legal right to racial discrimination in 1964 while LBJ was full-on for his planned Great Society which promised much more welfare benefits to blacks and that pretty much was the end of blacks voting Republican. Nixon just took advantage in 1972 of the shift that was already almost done occurring by the end of the 60s to end the 150 year Democratic ownage of the South. In 1968 race was a secondary issue outside of the deep deep South compared to Vietnam and hippies and shit. By 1972 with the counterculture dying and the US almost out of Vietnam, race issues came back to the fore, particularly with the really stupid idea of forced busing of schoolchildren to desegregate public schools. Forced busing did more to cause a backlash to the civil rights movement than anything else and Nixon exploited it brilliantly to get votes. Not many black nor white parents much liked the idea of busing their kids sometimes 2 hours or more either into the suburbs or into the inner city to go to school.

"No TPP" chants

There are just so many factions in the democrat party right now all fighting for what they want and pissed off that they aren't being given the spotlight

There is no way Clinton can win in November like this when you compare to what she's up against

The convention is a complete circus right now and makes the RNC look tame and unified in purpose by comparison

It's precisely the kind of hyper-sanitized, canned speech that you'd expect at a Democrat convention. What makes it particularly hilarious, though, is how it so badly whitewashes the larger context given its intended subject matter.

I've never watched one before, so I'm looking forward to making up my mind. And yeah, that is the exact kind of stuff that I dislike about the current left, but there were some very bad speakers at RNC too, so I'll forstall my judgement for a while.

@Rebs I support Drumpf this election, but historically, I've preferred Democratic candidates.

Other than Obama, which Democratic candidates have you actually supported?

I'm relatively young, so not in the present, but when I looked through the history and policy proposals and such, I thought Bill Clinton and Al Gore were the better choices, and Kerry as well, though maybe that's easy to say in hindsight. They've just been moving too far to the left initially... If Hillary wasn't so despicable and immoral, and wasn't drifting to the left because of the LGBT cultural shift and to gain support from Bernie bros, I think she'd be a fine candidate.

Do you think Bill Clinton was a better president than Trump would be ?

I don't know, but if Trump was a candidate in the 1992 or 2008 election versus them, I wouldn't vote for Trump. I understand what that means, but like I said, the shift at the moment is not right to me.

I looked back at that 2 years ago, and I've been slowly moving a bit more to the right as I get older. So it could be because of that too.

Just a tip for y'all's sanity: don't watch the entirety of these fucking conventions. You'll go insane from all the repetitive and meaningless platitudes.

There's totally a way she can win, even like this, when the sleeping majority of America wakes up and actually listens to Donald Trump speak.

Maybe now the media will stop calling them "Sanders supporters" and just call them "Clinton haters." Because at this point they'd boo anyone saying they like Clinton even if they're directly advocating Sanders' policies in the sentence. They'll even boo Sanders at this point.

Do you know how few people watch the convention at all? Most people will only tune in for Clinton's, Bernies and Corporate Kaine's speeches. That is it. Or catch up on all of it on the News. All this theater will be a foot note.

I think the presidential debates will be very good for Trump and he support.

Problem is I actually predict Clinton is going to lose the debates, and very badly at that

It's going to be final 3 in mafia with the average american voter having the hammer.

And Trump is just going to give better defenses and accusations that make her look silly

I think you missed the primary debates if you think Trump can acquit himself particularly well in debates. And there he didn't even have people disagreeing with him.

He sounds his best on a soapbox, and you can't get much further from a soapbox than a debate stage.

Yes, I think that Trump benefits when people hear him speak. What he says often doesn't match up with how his opponents describe him.

Do you think Bill Clinton was a better president than Drumpf would be ?

I don't know, but if Drumpf was a candidate in the 1992 or 2008 election versus them, I wouldn't vote for Drumpf. I understand what the means, but like I said, the shift at the moment is not right to me.

I looked back at that 2 years ago, and I've been slowly moving a bit more to the right as I get older. So it could be because of that too.

To bad Bill is a lieing cheater than. Thats just about as despicable as anything Hillary has done :p.

I have no care for promiscuity, and I think it has nothing to do with good work in office. I can see why some people would care, but I support legalization of prostitution with some regulation, especially if it can be done outside of the public eye, as it's done here, all online so nobody who doesn't want to be exposed to it isn't.

Anyway, bit off topic.

There's totally a way she can win, even like this, when the sleeping majority of America wakes up and actually listens to Donald Trump speak.

I am 100% confident to say that the more people that hear Trump speak, the more support he will get.

It's the reason why the RNC was so good for him, people actually tuned in. People who have their minds made up about Hillary get most of their Trump news in the (yes, hate to use the words), liberal media... Which truly does paint him out so unfairly it's absurd.

I think the presidential debates will be very good for Trump and he support.

Yes, I think that Trump benefits when people hear him speak. What he says often doesn't match up with how his opponents describe him.

And when they build their platform on attacking him over these falsifications, he just dismisses it and they end up looking like jokes

It happened over and over

I don't think there was a single memorable time Trump made someone look like a joke during the debates without also looking like a joke (some of the Jeb exchanges maybe?). Otherwise he was very hands-off; it was only after the debates that he really got down and dirty, before they finished he avoided getting in verbal scuffles and for good reason.

Edit: He did do a lot of shit-talking the media and moderators, but not other people on the stage.
