If you show this debate to somebody who doesn't know who is running in each party, they will likely think it is a Democratic Primary debate between two far left candidates.
lol and Democrats want to nominate the "centrist" to run against the lefty outsider who won the Republican primary. Surely at some point they will see the error of their ways.

Yeah, its like he has been on a whole other plane compared to the other candidates. You see the usual posts every time: 'oh, this is surely the end!', 'what a blunder!' and the guy just keeps on winning, keeps on changing the game.. Hilary backed out of a debate against Sanders before the California primary and in comes Trump, she is going to look weak and scared to everyone that isn't a fanatical fan.
People keep forgetting that Trump thrives the bigger the publicity is. Everyone is going to watch it just to see what happens, and remember, Trump has been through the hunger games baptism of fire Republican debates while comrade Sanders has had a year of hug circles.
Now that Trump has accepted, Hillary should accept too. Use the platform to embarrass and enrage him. If she is able to be presidential and all about the issues while being double teamed, it could actually be great for her.
Of course, she won't do that. She needs to realize this isn't a standard election cycle. Got to go out on the limb! Do something different!
At this point there's basically nothing Hillary can do. The moment sanders tweeted out the acceptance, it's win for Trump. It doesn't matter it actually is going to happen or not. The anti-establishment force in this election cycle is nuts.

Hillary used up her leverage trying to make the race look like it was over, if she dangled the debate she could have prevented it, but by openly refusing she opened the door for Trump and Bernie to go around the DNC.
The whole platform committee thing probably didn't help her much either. No one is shocked that several of them are corporate lobbyists.
This is just dumb from trump What does he have to win here? He can only lose. Even if he somehow manages to "win" the debate and somehow manages to not alienate the sanders supporters in the process (very unlikely) ,then he still didn't win anything as it will be Clinton who he will be up against. Its like giving the democrats 2 changes.
My prediction is this wont end to well for trump but lets see.

He makes Clinton look like an egotistical loser. If she runs up and says she wants to debate Sanders now she becomes even more of a farce. The only winner here is Sanders who gets more and more protection for progressives and voter registration.
He's showing strength. He's always in front of the camera, on the phone doing an interview, or holding a massive rally. When he's not doing that, he's completely playing the media like a fiddle. The brilliance he's done on the media alone you could write a book about. It's a complete dismantling of the establishment hacks. He's showing strength, stamina, leadership, and that he's not afraid to take risks. People generally like that in a leader.
He already has the advantage over Clinton, he just risks loosing the potential support of the sanders people and he does need the support of some of them to win in November. For the democrats this is brilliant, clinton can just not go. Why would she,a debate like this with 1 presumptive nominee and 2 people who are still fighting over it is unprecedented as far as I know. This will give Clinton some much needed cover, trump and sanders will damage eachoter and possibly themselves and she will emerge as the victor on the sidelines. Hope I am wrong.
How is he losing their support? They're gaining massive respect for him just by giving their guy the chance to get some lime light before the convention. They'll be very thankful and appreciate of that. Because they were very angry at being tossed aside and not listened to by Hillary. Meanwhile Trump keeps tapping them ever so slightly with the olive branch. Though that's just the polite way of putting it. In reality he's feeding scraps to them from the dinner table.

The opposite will happen as Clinton has already said she's the nominee no matter what happens, she's backed out if the agreed third and final debate, her campaign is now suing to stop transcripts from being released of her aides being questioned on her emails. She looks egotistical and worse having a tempter tantrum.

Yeah, the idea that Trump's going to say anything at the debate that would turn off anyone that was going to vote for him from Bernie's camp is mostly just wishful thinking coming out of the ClintonCorp.
People are seeing through their explanations of the polls and "Bernie or Bust folks are boosting Trump's numbers" is the only one they have left.
Kudos to him for being less cowardly than Clinton on this one.

Jon Stewart is a lot less impressed and I tend to agree:
For Trump yes its a good move, I fully expect him to trample all over Bernie. Bernie will lose from it but I guess he is willing to do anything for air time at this point.
Ofc Hillary comes off bad no matter what happens pretty much which is the main reason Trump is doing this.
If Trump and Bernie end up agreeing on a lot of anti-establishment issues (which they do)... If Trump and Bernie start attacking Hillary/ DNC (which they have)... when Trump wins the Republican nomination and Bernie loses the Democratic nomination (which will happen)... then A TON of Bernie supporters are going to be moving into the Trump camp and not voting for Hillary.
Quite frankly, this debate could be one of the first nails in the coffin for Hillary's general election, and could basically give Trump the presidency.

The general election is to far away, once the convention is over, when Bernie has finally been forced to give up and Hillary and Trump are fighting it out people will have long since forgotten about this debate.

Hopefully, although I think it's really easy for Trump to pick up some leftover supporters from Bernie's campaign by just doing this after every debate question:
Moderator: Senator Sanders, what do you think about X? Bernie: My stance on X is Y. Trump: That sounds good. I agree. And you know who doesn't agree with Senator Sanders? Hillary Clinton.
All he has to do is pretty much agree with everything Bernie says (and Trump is more than capable of backtracking and lying and making shit up all the time, so it's not like he has to be telling the truth), and then occasionally bring up his "agreements with Bernie" during general election debates vs. Hillary.
Sanders is really going out of his way to help the Republicans in this election. It's fascinating (and saddening) to see what a combination of egotism and of delusion about his own chances has done to him.
