That's one of the many reasons, yes.
Its the primary reason.
It has nothing to do with the blatantly racist and sexist shit he says? Or the fact that he actively advocates for violating people's human rights? Or that he advocates for borderline fascist government policies?
Nope, sure doesn't have anything to do with any of that shit. It's all just because he's anti-establishment. /s

Please. Defending Trump on these bullshit incitement of violence charges that are being recklessly thrown around by his opponents requires zero critical thinking. Y'all are the ones doing mental gymnastics trying to frame Trump as the next Hitler, complete with his own regiment of brown shirts. There are plenty of legitimate grounds on which to criticize Trump, but this isn't one of them. Unfortunately, many of you are too apoplectic to see it.
I don't think Trump is Hitler. I just think he's just a thuggish douchebag who doesn't do several things that I think decent human beings should do. I don't think I had to do any mental gymnastics to get to that point.
I mean I guess that doesn't disqualify him from being president-that has way more to do with just the moon base level policies he has-but I think it merits discussion in the thread.
Edit: I mean I don't really comprehend how people can watch his early debate performances and not conclude he's a douchebag and a bit thuggish rather than some super great guy beset by media harriers on all sides but that's just me
Edit2: For the record I watched the Apprentice for a couple years in high school and even then it was clear he was a thuggish douchebag
You don't think he's Hitler,
you just think he's a thuggish douchebag.
In fact you singled him out as such from celebrity show appearances.
Next up: Hillary supporters defend the accusation that she is a vengeful harpy. I see that also going places.
Would you rather I said "Donald Trump character"?
Because he plays the same character on the Apprentice (his brainchild, natch) that he did at the debates, I can assure you of that. The same one he plays at the rallies and ~1/2 his speeches. Unless you're counting the debates as celebrity show appearances too, which I guess they are.
And I can assure you that at some point during the debates Trump will imply Hillary is a vengeful harpy (already made a move tacitly calling her a bitch) so we have that to look forward to.
Edit: Thinking about it he was probably douchebaggier at the debates than on the show for the most part.
Edit2: Also all I'm doing is calling it like I see it. Isn't that one of the great attributes of Trump?
One more thing Trump has going for him. His opponents are easily characterized as humorless nitpickers. And they dive into the box willingly too! You can imagine the political commentators saying after the show how low-brow enjoying reality TV is and that they would never be caught watching it. Not the reality but the perception. His excesses get half the shock washed away because everybody seemed irate at the first syllable anyways.
Look at the coverage of the next Trump rally. The footage shows a guy that's clearly enjoying himself, firing off jokes everywhere, feeding off the excitement of the crowd that he doesn't really have to say anything. And they're talking about decorum and the dignity of presidential office. Jeb was gone from the first news cycle of "low energy." His TV critics fall into the same camp.
That's what came to my mind when I heard your thuggish douchebag. It telegraphs a yearning for a gentler pansified candidate, like some NPR broadcast on music. The word douchebag itself is overused by a certain crowd that you just wonder how many times racist/sexist/bigot/homophobe/misogynist will occur per sentence. (I say this knowing how disgusting some of his attacks were in later debates and rallies). I said earlier that personality charge was going nowhere in a debate thread, after some thought I now wonder why you picked those in the first place.
See, I just can't believe the only choices for him are between cartoonishly over the top taking-it-too-far oh-my-golly-gosh-did-he-really-say-that entertainer-in-chief and pansy. There's got to be a middle ground. And I don't think he'll convert to there any time soon; I'm not sure he could even if he wanted to given how much momentum the character has.
Until he does I will call out his more ridiculous antics that really highlight the excesses, and that's the context I called him a douchebag here; I view that particular interview as a spectacular opportunity to convert in a meaningful way with just a few words, but I can't help but think he knew the way he responded would get him more coverage and thus did it anyway for double the dick points.
And for the record I have tried to stay out of calling him a racist, sexist, bigot, or homophobe, if only because I think his persona is just kind of mean to everybody he doesn't want to appeal to at the moment rather than anyone in particular. Certainly I don't think Trump-as-human is any of those things, you're much better off as a businessman not being them.
(also The Apprentice was not a terrible show, even the critics liked the early seasons I think since it was the honeymoon season of reality TV alongside Survivor. CELEBRITY Apprentice, on the other hand...)

What racist comment did he say? It must have been pretty blatant and not taken out of context. He has a lot of black and latino endorsements now. He must have said something really bad for that to happen. + Show Spoiler +
Sexist? Man who hires women to head construction is sexist? I implore you to stop reading media headlines and do some research. The man is tough, but fair. And he knows how to bring the banter and get a rise out of people. That doesn't prove sexism. A bit of a bully? Sure. But it's worked.
You don't have to worry about him being presidential in the future. He's already assured us that he has the best words.
I think he's proven over his lifetime he's not really racist. And he's not really sexist. Come on, Oprah loves the man. Get real arguments because the days of calling people racist, homophobic, and misogynists when they have real arguments to counter yours are over.
I have a feeling while Hillary is going to be losing states and taking shots from Trump, Hillary supporters are going to miss Bernie Sanders supporters and our "artful smears".
I just hope Trump hops on the #ReleaseTheTranscripts train and pushes her to shut down her superPAC since she's the only contender who still has one at this point.
Y'all thought we had a tenuous relationship with reality, we got nothing on Trump supporters.

This is my last trump shill for tonight, just for you. What a beautiful man.
There is absolutely no fact in this video. I also think our generation is already selfish enough atm, humbleness is more important than self awarded greatness and goes a longer way in life imo.

That is some grade-A propaganda. I have to give it up to whoever put it together, it's very well done (too long, but well done).
That people are dense enough to fall for it, is a problem we can't blame on Trump. I have no doubt given a choice between America being great and him having to live poor, versus America not being great and him getting more wealthy, which he would pick.

How about a picture of Monica Lewinski deepthroating Florida.
But really, that first attack ad was pathetic. I didn't think it was at all an attack, because it's very obvious that Hilary is completely not-serious. In fact, if I were in the business of making attack ads for Hilary, I would simply copypaste that entire ads and find a clip of Drumpf saying something moronic (plenty of choice)... such as "I have the very best words!" and then cut back to Putin laughing.
trick is not to stoop to trump's level and lack of class. if you go there, he will beat you with experience. savagely. look at what he did to little marco and the rest of the gang.
an effective anti-trump ad is using trump's own words against him, just putting it in the right context. expose his bullshit positions and "solutions".
can't wait for the hillary machine to start rolling once the primary is over.
