Most of you know trump from the apprentice I guess but he has been around for way longer.

I do admire the guy, he doesn't smoke drink or do drugs,he has been working his ass off all his life and he expanded his fathers business in a huge way.
So many rich kids throw their life away.
Talking down his achievements in life is only making yourself look silly.

And ya the republicans, they only got themselves to blame. Putting up people like cruz.
As a European liberal I rather see trump win then cruz.
You know why I like trump, because when I see him I see an honest man. And that is incredibly rare these days in politics. It is so rare that I am willing to vote for the first honest man I see no matter if I agree with his politics or not.

Donald Trump isn't honest. He speaks his mind-which is I guess a type of honesty-but part of being honest is admitting when you're wrong. He refuses to do this even when he is demonstrably incorrect or his own sources contradict him or they also give evidence that makes his case less powerful.

Just because you repeatedly say all the steaming horseshit that pops into your head and double down on it doesn't mean you're honest.

It doesn't help that his "policies" are incoherent gibberish a 3rd grader would think up from an implementation perspective.

Fun question.

If trump would've been president in the 60s, would you guys now live in megaton?

I mean.. Just imagine how it would've ended if trump would've been the president, instead of kennedy. I certainly have an idea, but i wonder if people actually think that he would've done the same. A person, who has not a femtogram of humbleness on him.

Trump doesn't beat around the bushes and our feminized populace can't handle it. But policy-wise, he's not too different from his competitors. Yeah he goes over the top sometimes but he corrects himself and moves forward. He doesn't need an army of speech writers and pollers to tell him what to say.

It's just a shame that it's a Republican candidate who's passionate about what he believes in and speaks his mind without reservations and it's not a Democrat.

People seem to be confusing calculated bombastic statements and one of a kind ability to say nothing as being "honest and straightforward".

Trump is neither of those things. He constantly lies (attendance at his rallies is one of the most outright, easily proven wrong, and consistent lies he tells). He's the opposite of straightforward by couching everything controversial in "maybe's" and vagueness.

He's good at manipulating people, but the guy is not what people are even claiming they like about him. He can say whatever he wants and people only hear whatever they want. You can see it reflected when you see video of Trump supporters and in how his most recent Muslim comments are being fielded by people carrying water for him.

That might be the best description i've seen of him so far.

Although, if you want to be really accurate, i would've said "daily mail comment section". Which is amusing to look at btw, if you need to kill some time.

Trump’s Anti-Muslim Plan Is Awful. And Constitutional.

The court has given the political branches the judicial equivalent of a blank check to regulate immigration as they see fit. This posture of extreme deference is known as the “plenary power” doctrine. It dates back to the 1889 decision in the Chinese Exclusion case, in which the court upheld the exclusion of Chinese laborers based on their nationality.

Unlike other bygone constitutional curiosities that offend our contemporary sensibilities, the Chinese Exclusion case has never been overturned. More recent decisions have upheld discrimination against immigrants based on gender and illegitimacy that would never have survived equal protection scrutiny in the domestic context. Likewise, courts have rejected the assertion of First Amendment free speech protections by noncitizens.

Nor has the Supreme Court ever struck down an immigration classification, even ones based on race. As late as 1965, a federal appeals court upheld a measure that counted a Brazilian citizen of Japanese descent as Asian for the purposes of immigration quotas.

In the context of noncitizens seeking initial entry into the United States, due process protections don’t apply, either. This past June, the court upheld the denial of a visa for the spouse of an American citizen based on the government’s say-so, with no supporting evidence.

The courts have justified this constitutional exceptionalism on the grounds that immigration law implicates foreign relations and national security — even in the absence of a specific, plausible foreign policy rationale.

Also a fun poll on unfavorability

Both front-runners have made predominantly negative impressions among voters. For Clinton, 54% have an unfavorable view of her, 39% a favorable one — putting her image "under water" by 15 points. But that deficit is dwarfed by Trump, who is viewed favorably by 30%, unfavorably by 60% — a 30-point gap that raises alarm among some Republican strategists about his electability in November.

Listened to Ted Cruz on NPR "talking" about climate change. It was awful, so immediately plugged in my phone to listen to music.

Ted Cruz, man who takes money directly from the oil industry and coal industry, tells us climate change isn't real. And even if it wasn't there that air pollution issue is a big one that can be solved with alternative energy. The Ex-Governator, Arnold himself, put it best in response to people criticizing his investment in solar energy.

"I don't want to be the last guy betting on Blockbuster as Netflix is taking off." This is an industry we could be leading in if our entrenched energy industry wasn't trying to hold the government back. So other countries will lead the way, like India.

I liked his quote about the two doors. One leads to a room with a regular car, the other to a room with an electric car. Which room would you rather sit in with the car on for an hour? Ahnold man, he wasn't a great governor (he was ok) but his climate change statements are on point.

Note on Facebook for those interested

I used to believe that most politicians didn't actually believe most of the shit they said, but now I'm less sure. If you pretend to be something for long enough, eventually your simulated persona becomes your real one. See, Bobby Jindal. Luckily, Cruz bucks the trend.

Ted Cruz imo is the most dangerous man in US. He is calculating, manipulative, and has a track record of doing anything for political gain, closest comparison I can think of is probably Joe McCarthy.

Other than Joe McCarthy being a buzz-word among the left to denote "bad person", I really fail to see the similarities you're reaching for here. I suppose if Ted Cruz was asserting that Muslims had put spies in all levels of our government then the comparison might be apt, though even then it would be questionable (as far as I know, there are few prominent Muslims in our government, whereas the Venona cables proved that there were many Communist spies inside the federal government, sometimes in very high positions).

Basically, if people aren't going to research Joe McCarthy and who he actually was and what he actually did then comparisons to him will only sound intelligent to the uninformed and uneducated. To those with some knowledge of the actual person, it will usually sound silly and wildly ignorant.

I would do the very same were I in his position. Make huge personal profits by helping the oil industry destroy the planet. Probably I'll be dead before the adverse effects of those policies outweigh the benefits of those millions.

What makes it so perverse is that the guy has children. How a parent can do this and completely disregard the well-being of their children is just unforgivable.

Well, they were both Republican senators who said ridiculous, unsubstantiated things for attention and power. It's not the greatest comparison, but I wouldn't say it's a completely invalid one.

You'd generally compare someone to McCarthy if he/she started accusing opponents of some sort of social abnormality (being a communist, gay, Muslim, etc.) and used the general population's sentiment against those things to gain power. It's a lot less effective as a tactic now, though getting a vocal/ action-y minority can get you where you want to be.

I don't think Ted Cruz will get much farther than he is now. Sure he might poll a bit higher, but he'll never be president.

I'll give Trump credit for this: he seems to have taken to heart my advice that it is pointless to prevent Syrian refugee Muslims that we have tons of screening power over into the country while we have tons and tons of international travel daily with minimal screening power.

I think he forgot that we have minimal screening power over all country entry though...certainly not enough to reasonably determine if every international traveler is a Muslim as far as I know (unless we do just limit it to brown people with long beards).

its easy to see if a traveler is Muslim, it says on the passport.

Also be afraid WISIS is coming for you

I had a funny thought though, its so easy to see a terrorist incident here or there causing ppl like Trump and others to radiclize the way they do. But its kinda hard to see the effective of 10 of thousands of bombs and drone attacks.

Well I guess it would be hard since the US lives in its own bubble but still.

Yup, agreed. I still think Rubio is the only GOP candidate with a chance in 2016. He's gonna have to make a miracle happen, though.
