I am one of those spectators who prefer cheese over 10 minutes of turtling - and enjoy the hell out of the games where after that early "all-in" neither side has still clearly won and things get wonky.
Sometimes the game will end very fast, and sometimes there will be 2:0 with two instantly successful cheeses - and that kind of shortens the whole match bit too much.
So i wondered what if like in football where referees give "extra time" after the original 90 minutes, some tourney would experiment with changing bo3 to bo5 if after the conclusion of bo3 the total game played was under say 15:00 minutes ?
+ Would reward straight up games + Would give a chance to comeback after getting cheesed 2 times in a row + Would guarantee certain amount of gameplay for spectators for every boX
? Would make GG timings matter ? Choosing all-in's you have to think about time left too
- Might be anticlimatic - There would be arguements - Is kind of a silly

No, what the fuck? That would just punish people who win with all-ins for no real reason.

Have you seen sc2 straight up games? Cheesing is even more interesting than watching two balls smack together.
|
Straight up players should be rewarded and cheesers punished so that people can see more gameplay?
You're serious...?

Nope never, this would be a terrible idea, and it just doesn't make sense at all.

Dumb idea, would mess up the whole strategy of how players play their games. You're not supposed to punish cheesers, you're supposed to punish players for failing to defend cheese.

So you're up 1-0 after a quick first game. The second game, you can't cheese or all-in, because that would mean you'd have to play another game, which means that you have to play for the long game. Your opponent will know this and try to all-in / cheese you. If it succeeds? Good, 1-1. If it fails, no problem, another short game forces the series to a Bo5 allowing additional comeback opportunities.
Bad idea IMO.

This is a horrible idea. I don't particularly like cheese, but punishing players who use it is a dumb idea.

Better GG real fast when you are getting cheesed, then you get another game and try again :D
This suggestion is not well thought out...

This would reduce the number of all-ins players would use. If they win with them, they'd risk having to win even more games to advance. On the other hand, it'd give the person on the receiving end incentive to throw so they can get those extra games.

You're missunderstanding the reason for extra time in soccer. Its not because the match "needs to be longer". With all the time wasted with free kicks, out of the field throws, goal cheering etc, the match isn't actually 90 minutes long, its way shorter. Thats why they add extra time to make it as close to 90 minutes as possible.
Now what you're talking about, doesn't have anything to do with time. A match is a match, and there is no time limit. What happens when you add extra matches? You punish the player who originally won for no apparent reason. If any tournament did this, the shitstorm would be never ending.
