Do not use this thread to beg users for beta access or trade access with others. Thanks. |

An FYI, command and conquer has "global select" all units, this is a command and conquer feature meant for "noobs." I doubt pros will use it very often, but still...it's going the wrong direction imo. We will see. That hotkey is the least of my worries. In fact, it's just simply a welcome convenience to me. Newbs can base their play around it, but anyone Diamond and up won't be using it often. I'm more worried about the Warhound. Eff that ish.
I disagree. I think Zerg will benefit from it the most/use it the most often, especially when using high numbers of Zerglings that are small and sometimes difficult to select.
Either way, it's quite disappointing to see a "feature" like that being included in the HOTS Beta. Things like that alone show the direction the expansion is headed.
Not to be a negative nancy too much, the game will change a lot of course, and I'm sure there will be more depth, but anything that makes the game "easier" usually is not a good thing.

Everyone now can download semi-HotS beta client. Just download SC2 2012 beta from Arcade 1.5.0 Beta page and you will have menus from HotS. But nothing more - login not works for now

Why is the select army bad o.o ? Its for situations like the one where a zerg player can't rally to location x since he get attack and has to have all hatch rallying a little bit different and with this he can select everything and go not have to wait 5 sec to find every unit. Could think of other uses such as separating army from workers more easily ( tho you are selecting the whole army so not sure how often it would come into play ) .
I find it silly that people who don't master the game mechanically complain about the game getting easier mechanics wise.

this thread is the ultimate proof that people will bitch about ANYTHING. lol guys get over it.. things change. if you dont like change, then play broodwar, or live your life without a computer in a medieval camp.

can't wait for all the ridiculous contests to pop up again on TL and the desperate scramble for keys, good times. I'll be one of the many bitching that I never get blizzard beta invites. Anyone remember the contest where like 10 people entered, one won a beta key and the rest got a temp ban? Good times. + Show Spoiler +
Omfg I laughed so fucking hard at that thread.
Nearly woke up my SO now just thinking about it.

It's the other way around. The people with bad mechanics are the ones who benefit from these sorts of things.

There are situations with Zerg more often than with P/T where you'll have stray lings in mineral lines and you want to just select the lings to get out of your mineral line and not the drones...things like that it'll be useful for Zerg the most because lings are the tiniest tier 1 unit and most difficult to select.
Or the situations where you just made 50-100 zerglings and they are hatching and you either did not hotkey the eggs or have time to and you desperately need to control/double click your lings + box/shift select the rest that are rallying from 4 different hatcheries...it will 100% benefit Zerg the most. Obviously every race will benefit slightly.

Yeah Idk who it will be more "beneficial" for but it won't be for pro's at all.

Just two comments regarding the additions that seem to make the game "too easy":
1) If you don't like it, disable it. But whining about such options because it makes things less complex for people with less skill / ability is somewhat elitist.
2) Remember the uproar when the in-game clock was introduced? Anyone out there who is not using it nowadays?

What will be funny is waking up tomorrow and waking up to see if beta is out. I mean with having the client seems like tomorrow's the day. Swear to god though tomorrow's going to suck if it does come out, it will be a slow school day T_T

There is pretty much never a situation where a good zerg has an unhotkeyed ling in their mineral line because whenever they have stray lings in their mineral line they will always be hotkeyed. If you made 50-100 lings and you didn't hotkey the eggs then you're bad. You always have time. As terran it will be far more helpful because you can't hotkey eggs - when units pop out of the barracks, factory, or starport, you normally have to hotkey them all, now you never need to do that.

This is one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read. I'm currently a high Diamond zerg and I have ALWAYS been boxing my workers, counting, and only doing optimal saturations... and all the people I know do this as well. Its such an ingrained part of my macro that I'll probably keep selecting by habit and just looking at the number.
