Hmm... smells like Bobby Kotick. Blizzard is really pushing the "approachable" aspect, methinks to increase sales. I don't really see this as particularly bad, but it does tell us they are still quite focused (or aware of) the casual player who makes up the bulk of the sales.

I'd like to see the Tempest's rate of fire get reduced while increasing its damage. It would be very interesting if, say, four shots took down a tank, or three with a +1 damage upgrade, or something along those lines. There could at least be some micro involved by allowing careful targeting and attack/withdraw tactics, something like using viking volleys to take down colossi.

That said, I don't feel great about the Swarm Host, mostly. Two locusts, slow as hell, with ranged attack? Make them faster, tough, and melee, which would make them more "tank line breaky" as they rush forward forcing tank splash on your opponents' own units.

That said, with the Warhound completely owning Protoss (since most of their army is mechanical) and with Blinding Cloud devastating bio balls, I wouldn't expect Terran players to go anything but mech in HotS.

For what it's worth, mOOnGLaDe didn't like the Swarm Host either, until he got to play around with them at Gamescom a few weeks ago. Now he loves them. I guess it's just one of those theory vs practical application things.

Would people suggest to start trying to play HOTS competively. I never really tried to playing WoL competitvely. I heard there is a lot of talk that every build everything is reset due to balance changes. So would players that have played WoL have a edge over a player that would be starting out fresh like me just wondering.

Glad to see the beta is coming out ^_^

I will say that i was suprised by them in the HOTS beta map, being that vs low damage units (zealots, stalkers) Locusts have almost double the EHP of marines, and around double the dps (not sure if i calculated with or without stim, but either way, they hurt really really badly) and if you dont literally walk to the middle of the map to kill the locusts, having 2 cannons and a small squad of stalkers behind your FFE wall isnt enough to stop even 3-6 swarm hosts from destroying your forge, cyber core suprisingly quickly if zerg has map control

Their damage can always be toned down if their DPS is the issue.

There is no access to any new units because it's not included in the current client. (Just try poking around the map editor or Swarm's base.sc2assets file) This is pretty smart for blizzard not to include until the beginning of the public closed beta until "patch 1" comes out.

Not really used to playing around with the editor at all, but came across this really big doodad called "Xel'Naga Halo"

It's 128 in with, 128 in height and is completely 3d, meaning it spins both above and below ground..

I took a screenshot:

LOL yeah that's always been about. That is in one of the single player missions iirc, the one where you destroy the temple or either a cinematic comes to mind.

New button I just noticed on the interface - "Select army units", placed where the "Select idle workers" button used to be (which is now on the left side).

Does pretty much exactly what you expect it to.

In order to see if I am able to downlaod the beta client, I tried to log into my battle.net account. Well, logging in didn't work and got the following message:
Due to suspicious activity, this account has been locked. A message has been sent to this account’s email address containing details on how to resolve this issue. Visit http://eu.battle.net/account/locked.html for more information.

Did that happen for anyone else? I didn't do anything else but try to log into my account and the last time I've been in battle.net was two days ago.

This is starting to scare me. I'm all for making the user interface as easy and simple to use as possible but giving the players extremely simple controls is NOT good for competitive play.
