Personally, I don't think he has even had SC2 installed for the longest time. I still wish all the best for him, and while he may indeed never regain his passion, there is no question he has had a net positive impact on the scene.

He definitely plays, though. He LOVES this game, it's a life passion. Do you honestly think he wouldn't play? I think you are wrong here. He loves/loved Brood War and that game was his life passion. The only reason he cast SC2 is because GOM went to SC2 right away and with all the hype and the money in the foreign scene he just rides it out. Because let's be serious here, his only value is in SC2 right now because of the "Tastosis, the casting archon" and his legacy from Brood War. Didn't he quit college to cast BW in Korea? What else is he gonna do if not sc2? And no matter how much Tasteless, Artosis and other people like to joke about "Tasteless lost his passion!!!" you can clearly see it's true. His sc2 casting is so fucking bad compared to BW that it isn't even funny. If he would really have a passion for sc2 and play it on a regular basis I would be very very shocked tbh. But this we will never know, unless he have the balls to be honest enough on a show like "real talk with JP". But answering a question like this would probably hurt his brand if it wasn't positive-SC2 so.. hm yeah. The above quotes pain me greatly, and are possibly the worst side effect of reading teamliquid ever. Can I get some more info on this? It's hard to search through ITG episodes. Tasteless has never said that he doesn't like game the game or play the game. He always says the opposite. Maybe he hates the game, who knows but don't believe everything you read by random people on forums (including me). I've watched most episodes of ITG and never heard PainUser say something like that.

Believe it or not, but most casters aren't in Masters or GM. Too be honest, those casters tend to be my favorite as they know how to fill space and keep it entertaining. I know, I am weird. It is very rare that you find a caster that plays at a high level and, at the same time, keeps the viewers entertained with some good dialogue.

This right here, lol. Make it a special in a major tournament like MLG like they did with the Kespa BW players.

It's hard to say if Tasteless still plays. I remember Artosis streaming one night over this past winter and someone asked him during his Q/A sesh on Twitter is Tasteless is still an active player, and Artosis says he still plays whenever he has time. I remember him saying it's kind of like Artosis where he goes a while without playing due to craziness in schedule then binges for a bit.
Tasteless also tossed out a random comment during his cast with Wolf last week, along the lines of "Do you think it's worth putting down the pylon to block the hatchery?" *answer* "Yeah, I do it any time I can sneak my probe in before the hatchery gets there, I always feel more in control of the game when I can do that."
Not sure if it's him trying to make conversation or real, but it lends me to believe he still ladders sometimes.

anything about him hating the game is made the fuck up. he talks about laddering all the time, it's not remotely strange that we don't get to see him doing this. he isn't a pro player and when you consider the shit that artosis or incontrol take for their play I wouldn't stream in his position either.
if people seriously think he's lying to cover "his brand" when he talks about fucking around on ladder and trying new builds that's amazing.
dude clearly loves videiogames, esports, gom, sc2, etc. just watch him cast for 20 hours from last week and tell me that dude is miserable.

This is true. He usually just says the basic stuff then leads any conversation with high level play to Artosis. And like you said, when he tries he is wrong alot.

Tasteless makes comments in GSL about how he plays and tries out strategies, so I believe that. Hopefully some time he streams his play, but I don't blame him for not doing so.
Knowing how often he talks about cool cheese strategies and his BW history I am sure his stream would be mostly all-ins that would get him a lot of flack. Artosis plays pretty standard protoss at high masters KR level and he still gets tons of shit from viewers (bad macro or whatever they can attack him for).

The tasteless lost his passion statements have been gone on since the open seasons ended. If he hasn't brought it up before he won't bring it up now.

The voice of reason<3. The reason I was so dismayed and wanted more discussion(and derailed the thread) is because I legitly feel like Tastosis is impressed or excited when they cast SC2, even if Artosis sits around dropping knowledge bombs more than tasteless. I was afraid I would go watch GSL with tasteless casting and feel his insincerity. But yeah, he probably enjoys his life, it doesn't really matter the extent, as long as he's not just in it for the money.
At the same time, my search through teamliquid with "Tasteless lost his passion" came up with:

I don't even play, I just like watching GSL, MLG, Dreamhack, the like. Maybe an occasional Korean weekly or NASL. Love IPL when I have time. But what if I just treat Starcraft like TV(I never watch TV, just watch starcraft and read TL), and I've lost my passion as a fan? I hate this topic.

He is already confirmed for RT with JP.
People really need to stop being so negative.

People on TL are really negative. It seems the best way to get your opinion heard and responded to is to say with a knife edge attached, either through condescendingness or calling someone of the opposite opinion unsmart. I probably let the rest of the people in this thread get to me. I think it may actually be suspicious if Tasteless magically cast the exact same way he cast years and years ago, but I reserve judgement, and will be reading this thread attentively.

Does Tasteless even play SC2 anymore? There were rumblings a few months ago that Tasteless was playing himself into shape so he could stream 1v1s, but nothing ever came of it. I want to say it was Hwanni who is responsible for this rumor, but I could be mistaken. It's a shame, because I never saw Day or Tasteless play BW in their prime as I was into competitive CS at the time, and now I'm being deprived of seeing them compete in SC2. I enjoy their casting, but it would be fun to see them compete too, even if it was just as amateurs. I don't think they could damage their brands at this point, they are too well-established.
