The responses of people should be predictable for people like Destiny by now as well. Everything is a wash. The people who email sponsors have a lot of power and that fact is unlikely to change. I think over time we will see less of this as a result, but I don't really know.
I suppose you can say that Destiny derives more utility out of perpetuating his behavior and getting punished for it than ceasing it. Emotional words seem to mean as much to him as anyone else. Both sides, though, are extremely sensitive, so it might be hard to say if there will be less of racial language, especially because it is a fleeting surge of emotion that people get punished for. In Destiny's case, it's not fleeting, but sustained. Individuals with his behavior who aren't as popular as he is have a tiny chance in succeeding in SC2.
Even if it is fleeting emotion, I think it can be controlled. People just need to weigh the cost getting punished versus the benefits of typing things that members of society, not just gamers (for instance, most people won't think getting called a newb or a scrub is offensive), find offensive.
The rate of racial language will, I think, because of Orb and Destiny, decrease among professionals and increase among non-professional who play the game.

People aren't targeting the team, they clearly targeted the player. If Quantic kept housing Destiny, of course its gonna hurt Quantic. But at this point, I think it reflects well on them. I understand that its hard for the late teens posters on this forum to understand, but this sort of thing shouldn't have happened to begin with. Destiny was around a lot longer than he should have been. He's a child in an adult's body who is so self-obsessed that he can't take a moment to think he might be wrong about this whole "free speech" to justify racist and other harsh language. He'll figure it out some day, I'm sure. The younger posters on this forum should realize this is a consistent trend and that there just might be a reason for it.

Each to their own I guess, I am more interested in a community surrounding absolute best quality of competition of Starcraft games where the players with the most skill have the best opportunity to demonstrate it against each other. I would be content watching if all the players were prisoners in maximum security prisons convicted for rape and murder as long as they were the best. I am not saying Destiny represents the highest level of skill, but the fact that people care more about someone calling someone else a racial slur than preserving the scene (ie sending emails to sponsors) goes against what I feel is most important. If it had been a genuine act of racial discrimination then it would be completely different, in my eyes.
So I suppose this has made me lose faith in the community, because it doesn't stand for what I thought it stood for.

It's his stream, you're right, he can do what he wants, but he also has to accept the consequences for said actions. That is, people may complain (and they have a right to). And if TL decides that racist remarks on his stream aren't acceptable and aren't representative of the community that TL wants to build, they can delist him from their streams.

No, acutally I don't like participating in anything this community has to offer because it's all distasteful raging and just down right sad. I don't give a fuck about destiny, or what he said, but the fact that people are offended by it is a joke, go to any comedic show or turn on the t.v. and watch family guy or southpark, it's all in good humor and if people can't laugh at racism turn it off, end of discussion.

We live in the age of defering blame to others now. No one can accept fault for their actions or mistakes, it HAS TO BE someone elses fault. When some moron stumbles on to destiny's stream and gets offended, it's destinys fault and not their own even though there's warnings posted by destiny letting you know about the mature language and possibility to be offended.
It's seriously fucking sad and makes me kind of wish all of this (the SC2 "community" ) would just go away for good.

When IdrA calls people retarded or tells the other player to kill themselves, no one gets as butthurt and emails sponsors. Even though wishing death on someone is much worse than plainly insulting them Except Destiny was not kicked out for insulting people. He was not fired for saying fuck, or ass, or whatever. He was not fired for swearing. He was fired for using bigoted language. He wasn't kicked. He left. And he wasn't using them in a racist context. He was using it interchangably with "moron" (which was a derogatory word for handicapped people) or "STUPID FUCKING CHEESER" I don't see why everyone has to be a hyper sensitive flower in this community. His actions to me are reprehensible and I will not be watching his stream anymore (although I haven't watched since the infestor nerf anyway).

If you were to poll the united states, what % of individuals do you think would classify gook as a hateful term? It doesn't matter that its his own stream, he was representing a team. He had logos and crap all over his stream. By doing so, he became accountable to other people. He was not independent. Now he is.

Professionalism: What's wrong with it??? It is surprising to me that players who are supported by a team can't behave/act properly to the point where they are basically fired?!? Now I have to suffer because your stream isn't listed??? If I went to work and said the first thing on the top of my head, I'd be fired in 60 seconds flat!!!
