Harden is the worst defender of all of them though. Only problem with EJ is sample size since he's shown potential stud status in only flashes outside of the Clippers.

also think harden has a higher peak on offense, i don't see a valid reason why he can't capable of what manu did at his peak (ie: clearly better than gordon), perhaps harden lacks some of manu's flair. manu is 34 so whatever, wouldn't be too hard to leapfrog him, especially when minutes are taken into account

That aside why has no other big man dominated besides them with the exception of KG?

Maybe they had, but they were still the number one player on their team. And timmy in his early years was a beast. Nobody even knew about TP and Manu when he started to dominate. Hakeem in the mid 90s was also a pretty decent player if i may say so. I mean which perimeter player would you say dominated the scene? (Magic) MJ, Kobe, and now Lebron and Durant. And personally I wouldn't call Durant dominating yet. We'll see after these playoffs. That's only 4.5 names. If you widen the circle for perimeter players then you also have to talk about Barkley, Malone, Garnett, MChale. I think overall the "dominance" has been pretty balanced. If there's an exceptional player on any position then he's gonna do well. MJ and all the MJ-comparisons of lesser players after that kinda contorted the whole perception.

Article that proposes that the reason why there has been a dearth of great bigs recently is because of the legalization of the zone defense ten years ago. Once teams got good at the zone, making the entry pass has become really difficult. Spreading the floor doesn't work as well as it used to either. Lakers NEED game 2 or this OKC team will steamroll them. Maybe if they can get Perkins in foul trouble early. Steve Nash was a pretty good perimeter player, Jason Kidd too if you can look beyond scoring.

However, since it's easier to flood the paint against "true" bigs like Bynum and the biggest threat to the paint these days is perimeter players driving to the basket, it's better to have bigs who are mobile a la Tyson Chandler. Bigs need to be able to guard the pick-and-roll effectively and be able to rotate and cover the perimeter against all the "stretch 4's" in the league. Guys like Bynum are just going to be taken advantage of by putting them in pick-and-roll situations and are not quick enough to rotate and recover. The Lakers were much better defensively when they had Odom playing PF alongside Gasol, which is why Bynum was never in late game situations back then no matter how well he could score in the post.

Hakeem, I am only naming guys that play close to the basket btw but I get your point def. ( Too bad Sabonis didn't come at a younger age or he might be up there.)
