While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

This is weird
Where do they draw the line
Naniwa tried 0% so he got banned
Others in that position may have tried 70%

Is 10% enough? 20?
Tonight is like the weekend of today

THE PUNISHMENT IS NOT HARSH.

They were going to give him a free spot in code S. He insulted them, they didnt give it to him. HOW IS THAT HARSH!?!?!? Why is Naniway owed or entitled to a spot? I dont understand peoples arguments at all.

I LIKE HIM SO HE DESERVES A CODE S SPOT BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!!

They were going to be nice to him, and he fucked it up. He didnt earn anything. A gift was taken away from him. Thats all.

This wasn't the kindness of their heart. They have a business arrangement with MLG. They might not be obligated to Nani but I bet they're obligated to MLG.

OMG for the last time, there was no code s spot given at providence. FFS people.

I agree. Anyone spouting that GomTV is Kespa 2.0 has definitely not seen the douchebaggery that Kespa pulled in their reign.

Relative to SC2, this act by GomTV is possibly the highest on the scale of douchebaggery.

Nope.

Let's see what Naniwa did in a less than a minute in his match.

-He made his team look stupid when Quantic was hyping the match up in their twitter.

-He blatantly showed his unprofessionalism (hand on chin, not-care-in-the-world attitude) in real time in front of millions of live audience.

-He took away the chance of Nestea shows his absolue best, even if the match was meaningless and it was on Nestea's BIRTHDAY.

-He made the 5 casters (3 Koreans + 2 Foreigners) look like a fool when they were hyping this match to the last second of the match.

-He demeaned the other foreigner players who were giving their utmost effort to even QUALIFY in GSL.

Nicely done, Naniwa.

the rules are so abstract it's ridiculous. this reminds me of when i was young and my friend would make up rules to games as he went along. this just feels like something that is occurring because of the immense backlash of the community. well congrats you got what you wanted

Imagine if IdrA comes to GSL, he wil have instant code A, but no problem for his outrageous behavior like insulting players while having 7000+ people watching his stream.

you realize what idra did in GSL was that he doesn't gg, and that's it? he never insults player while playing live, at least not while he was in Korea.

He is not dumb, he has been playing starcraft 1 and 2 for years, he still respects the rules

What Naniwa did was essentially match fixing, an extremely obvious one at that.

Match fixing? Well, eh not sure how to comment that. First it means that Nestea or his organization would have payed naniwa for droping the game. Which is a bit weird thing to do in a match of zero importance.

I dont think you should blame IM for the fact that Naniwa doesnt care if he wins or loses matches of no importance. Really disrespectful of you to accuse IM of bribing players from other teams.

Classic KeSPA really, can't wait for GOM to rename!

Format wasn't bad. We asked them for it.

Format was pretty unprofessional. In a BO5 you don't play out the rest of the games if one of the players goes 3-0. You're not gonna see any good games then because the loser just wants to get it over with, not show good games for the fans.

No the format was professional. When a team is out of the playoff hunt they still have to play the rest of their games.

Naniwa was the only unprofessional thing about this. You don't just agree to the format (more than likely in a legal way as if GOM doesn't have legal documents saying they agree to the terms of the tournament they're royally screwed) and say you're going to play all 4 games and then go back on that. You agreed to it. Finish the job.

They have an extremely warped sense of respect and so does a lot of people in here, if anything it is disrespectful to expect someone as passionate as naniwa to play good game after the previous three games.

That is not the problem. The problem is that there is NO expressed explanation of what the so called rules are supposed to mean. Example:
Many people stated the abusive behavior lies in Naniwa's having no chance of success. If we apply that rule any player using any risky strategy would have to be banned (e.g. expand first without scouting, which is a very common build yet all or nothing build).
From a legal point of view gom can probably do whatever they want. In my opinion that is highly unprofessionell but unsurprising in the existing conduct of business so I don't care as much about it. What pisses me off (sorry for language but i need to be honest here) is the evident try to hide behind some psyeudo rules.

Also it indeed was a really bad format. Under no circumstances should there be the possiblity of meaningless games having to be played out.

How many free opportunities at GSL does Naniwa really deserve though? Hasn't he been in 2 Code A's, World Tournament, GSTL and Blizzard Cup now? He has NO results from any of these tournaments. I'm not sure he even deserves Code S in the first place. Stop handing out opportunities to the SAME person to flop. I like Naniwa but I also like this decision regardless of this week's drama.

Hahaha what a joke, Naniwa earned a spot at MLG Providence, and the rule is completely made up. Yeah what he did wasn't particularly professional but neither is making players play pointless games. To take such drastic action makes me lose all respect for GOM, and I'm not even a Naniwa fan in the first place.

Cultures are different. Understand that.

The Koreans view this in an entirely different manner. To see some foreigner be invited to the tournament, then in a game vs Nestea, just a-moved his probes and take his hand off the keyboard is ridiculous. Whether the game was important or not is irrelevant.

So, now pro players are supposed to fake their plays when motivation doesn't follow because the match has aboslutely no value.
At least naniwa was honest when he did that, I really prefere that than faking he's happy to play and lose in a 15mn game because he's polite... So much drama for nothing... I, myself didn't care about a game where both opponent where 0-3. Thank you Naniwa for accelerating the processus of that useless game, this was respectfull for the upcoming players that had important match to play as well a spectators watching 9 games straight, you didn't waste a lot of our time for no reason.

We could see the problem this way and reward Naniwa with a generousity medal if we look at that drama on another perspective, nobody was really offended, except maybe for Nestea, but I think, the guy will be fine.

because this matters why? its quite obvious that he wasn't trying, his hand wasn't even on his keyboard the entire game beside the first 1-a move

It matters because it has the same chance of winning and is a strategy that decides the game quickly.

Yes, taking his hands off was over the top, agreed. But Naniwa was not raised in a culture where you're not supposed to show any emotions. He was very disappointed about losing the first three games so close - and they all all-inned him - what led to him showing emotions.

i like to be raised in a culture where i can be insensitive to other cultures, throw games that IM OBLIGED TO PLAY and take a shit in my audience/organisers/opposing player.

Its not even that harsh a punishment.

He had three straight Code A invitations due to no other foreigner wanting to play in Code A. He got 0-2'ed all three times.

I think qualifying through the Code A qualifiers would be good for Naniwa. I want to see at least one foreigner qualify the right way.
