NaNiwa not invited to Code S - Page 133

While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

GOMTV is right about this. It's an honor to be playing in code-S. If Naniwa can't be bothered to play a few games he clearly isn't enjoying this game and is only doing it for the money. His spot could better be given to players who enjoy this game and always want to play their best regardless if the match matters or not.

I think this is pretty crystal clear, highest placing player without Code S status, will be awarded Code S status.

Or, wait, don't tell me, they only award it to people they LIKE (or mr Chae thinks is going to bring in many viewers), again on arbitrary business interest standards.

Care to address the other points? Arbitrarily judging athletes who are depending on this stuff for their income is A-OK?

Read the other posts, the liquipedia article made a mistake. GSL-MLG doesn't extend into 2012.

GUYS, you missed a point.

Naniwa was not confirmed for Code S spot. (as MLG Providence had nothing with the Code S spot. )

how is that called revoked??

The truth is just that Nani did not get the spot and he can still qualify GSL for the next season.

HE IS NOT BANNED.

Its the same gosh damn thing getting un-invited for his 'Earned' Code S Spot is essentially the same thing as revoked.

HE did not earn it.

He would have gotten the invite based on his performance in the MLG if this hadn't have happend. That to me would mean he "earned it"

would have, this is based on your thought. not the fact.

This is based on the MLG rules. Your opinion is the made up one.

MLG providence had nothing with the code s spot.

So you buy GSL ticket for a player like naniwa? What do you do when he gets kicked out after round 32 every tourney? You just dont watch for 4 weeks? Sounds like a stupid move anyway...

Not really, it's just my way of retaliating against GOM by asking for my money back, which I will fully pursue. Of course I would watch all players but in this case, I'll just stick to the free-stream. GOM was wrong and I will ask for a full refund, which should be done due to consumer rights etc etc We shall see.

So...you are boycotting GOMTV but you are still going to use the free stream? Whuuuuu? And you people call GOM Hypocrites?

Consumer Rights? LOL I think you will promptly find that you are not entitled to anything because GOMTV makes no assurances that assholes wont be kicked out of their league when they act like brats.

I'll find other sites that uploads HQ VOD's and share them amongst my friends instead of paying for HQ pass, just because I'm disgusted by GOMTV doesn't mean I can't enjoy the games.

so they are providing something you want and now you have an excuse to not spend money

so disgusted that you are gonna spend time to find other sites so you can watch gom's content

I'm sure you were planning to pay all along though. yup.

I do pay for things I like, you can find almost all media for free nowadays but most people still chose to pay for some of it because they want to support it, GOMTV lost that support from many people today.

GOMTV hasn't lost support from me, nor from many other reasonable people here either.

It's all too easy to get caught up in drama and make everything into hyperbole. Just because we aren't noisy and outraged, doesn't mean we're not here.

srs. it tells me GOM will uphold and provide quality SC2. thats all the more entertainment for me

Biggest douchemove ive heard for a long time. Whole GSL+MLG partnership was about getting more money. Ofcourse Naniwa is an evil moneyhunter.

I'm confused due to the fact that liquidpedia` and MLG itself both seem adamant that there were code S berths for the winner of MLG providence.

If Nani really didn't have a Code S spot then why did Chae feel the need to say that it was being revoked. Seems a little sketchy. Maybe he should have tried harder in his game but really, there was according to Mr. Chae, nothing in it for him anyway. If there is nothing to be gained, why try your hardest or even try at all? It is a complete waste of time. Since there was no code S spot being revoked I don't see why they had to say anything other than to be a giant ass and insult someone since it didn't matter anyway. That's like saying well "Well, I was going to give you this cookie if you do such and such but since you didn't you don't get it. Well, actually, I was never going to give you the cookie anyway." WTF.

He never said it was revoked, 3rd party sources say so.

nani fully deserved his punishment. Rules are rules, no matter how good you are, if you can't abide to them, you should get booted right out of the competition.

Doesn't make sense he gets paid for every cast he does.

What?

Naniwa got $900 to play at the bare minimum 4 games (all the group stage games). Arguably, Naniwa got $225 per game.

This is just plain stupid. People have been throwing games from tournaments since the beginning. And this match meant nothing. He earned his spot in GSL after finishing second place after Leenock in MLG and now it gets taken away because he did, as many players including koreans have done, throw a game.

I can only think that some pro teams are complaining to GOM and thus they surrender to the pressure from them. Otherwise I don't know what to think. Well I guess I'm going to do what many others will. Skip GSL this season.

Yea, I have to say, with attitudes like this I would say Korea has about... two years... of SC dominance left.

You can't have a bad attitude about it like that and keep winning. It just won't work.

Naniwa was not given the code S seed through PROVIDENCE. There is NO code S seed for MLG PROVIDENCE.

So what is this then?

Most likely it is TLPD's mistake in assuming that the MLG-GSL contract extends to 2012.
Simple mistake.

Would be nice to have a definite answer to this question but i guess that it can only come from MLG. I mean, if the deal was still running GOM kind of fucked over MLG, too. If not, GOM was absolutely in their rights and discussion could end.

What is so difficult about this.

Naniwa was disrespectful. Naniwa was sent to the corner.
You shouldn't be sad for Naniwa, you should be sad that it seems that esports has to raise other people's children.

You don't get on their stage and then in the middle of it decide not to play by their rules because your feelings are hurt, and then get away with it scot-free (this isn't even that big of a punishment, its only a month, unless I'm mistaken).

Gom has to be sure that the decisions that they make for the sake of the fans (format) are adhered to by the players that take their stage, even when you get the shitty end of the stick.

We all have to sacrifice sometimes.
Such is (adult) life.

Naniwa gets a free pass why? Because you like him?

I hope since Naniwa is NOT banned that participates in the Code A qualifiers, smashes through to Code A, then keeps on going until he qualifies for Code S.

A misunderstanding.

That nobody cleared since then? Artosis, Tasteless, SotG?

Riiiight.

Exactly. Do you see any other parts of the MLG-GSL exchange programme there? GSL invites? Code A seeds?

MLG Providence had no Code S seed. In case you didn't notice, there weren't GSL invites or Code A seeds either.
I know some casters were saying thing like that, which is why many people are confused.

He was, however, going be one of 2 foreigners invited for Code S.

Now, GOM has 'uninvited' him.

As it stands, Naniwa can still qualify for Code A like everyone else (*cough* Jinro *cough*)

You know I totally overlooked this. Looked it up on Liquipedia and you're right, there were no GSL invites for Providence and no one was awarded Code A seeds, so it seems like everyone missed this and just assumed Naniwa won a Code S seed.

there were a code s-seed. atleast the commentators said it

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/GSL-MLG_Exchange_Program

That's exactly what I looked at though. The GSL-MLG exchange program indicates an exchange, Koreans were invited and placed into the championship bracket and foreigners who place high get invited to the GSL. However, the only Koreans who played in Providence were either seeded through MLG points they earned previously or had to go through the open bracket. Not one Korean was seeded into the Championship bracket as part of the program, and somehow we all overlooked this.
