Name any other professional league in any sport where trying to lose as fast as possible is not punishable?

There are tons of players that would kill someone to get a chance to play a game on that grand of a stage vs. a player like Nestea. Im a fan of Hero, and it was breaking my heart watching him not play his best. But he still tried. You could see how upset he was, but he handled it like a pro, took his lumps, and still PLAYED the game, because thats what he signed up for. We pay money to watch the tournament, not to watch someone not give a shit. If this happened at a pro sporting event, fans would be outraged. The fact that people support his behaviour is completely mind boggling. I think the punishment is very fit for what he did. You're from Canada, I bet you watch hockey like I do. When has a team in the NHL gotten punished for not playing their best players? If you watch basketball, teams seeded in the playoffs start playing their B-teamers near the end of the season 'cause it doesn't matter anymore. The NBA doesn't punish them for this.

Booting a player for the integrity of the competition and then fathering in two players without proper qualification is probably the dumbest thing GOM could have done. Exactly. kicking Naniwa that broke no rules and give the code s spot to 2 players that didnt earned it its a discrace. Starcrat 2 is a goddam popularity contest. Its WWE all drama not about skills anymore

I'd honestly expect such a "developed" and "liberal" country to be a little less narrow minded. The same people who refuse to buy GSL tickets because Naniwa, who happens to be Swedish, got kicked out, would probably rally and buy GSL tickets the moment Sase or Jinro gets to play in Code A. Just think about what would happen to a Korean progamer that did what Naniwa did . . . the team would probably kick him out to disassociate themselves with someone so disrespectful. Insulting the Swedish people as a whole is a great way to further the discussion. Also if Naniwa was a Korean progamer then he would have been raised in the Korean culture most likely and he'd be well aware of the cultural issues that got him here in the first place.

I hope what you are seeing is a vocal minority. :/ I for one really don't like nani. I like to think that most swedish are a bit ashamed of his bad behavior, while still proud of his results. A bit like US and idra I guess.

He stays in Korea not because he likes it, not because his life is better there. No, he plays there to be the best. He is one of the most dedidacted player out there. And still GOM stated, he is an amateur prize hunter... If Naniwa were really in Korea because he's there to be the best, then he has to step up and play the best even if it has no financial consequences for him. Having the chance to play Nestea in front of the whole world is actually a rare opportunity for him, and he decided to waste it. So much for good mindset.

I think that if this match was actually meaningful to NESTEA's qualification, and Naniwa did this then yes, I would say that it's completely irresponsible, but Nestea was out of it as well... For all you know he was just gonna do a roach-ling all in, and gtfo.

They should punish every player that doesn't play their hardest or uses goofy strats. I remember a long time ago Nada going thor drop vs Idra in close positions metalopolis, back when close positions were played and instant-loss for zerg. The game didn't matter since they would both advance, but if Nada won he would have had to play his teammate. Nada intentionally played a ridiculous strat to lose so he wouldn't play against his teammate, and nobody said anything. Somebody should look this up and back me up. They didn't punish Nada for it even though I was thoroughly disappointed.
