Fatal exploitable flaw in sc2 matchmaking system

After season 1 and 2's struggle to move up the Master league (topped out at mid-low masters both seasons with T, and at top diamond with P and Z), I didn't have too much luck in season 3 either with my first few games after getting placed in diamond, being rusty and all especially with my Z and P.

Perhaps it was the frustration, but I decided to lose (join then quit immediately while in windowed mode on 2nd monitor) about ~20 games to have my MMR drop low enough to face low platinum players. Needless to say, I went on something like a 15-20 game win streak, in which I started to lose again to diamond players. So, all I have to do is lose another 15 games, get dropped back into plat, and win all my games again.

Since I'm not trying to be a progamer or anything, I play this game for fun. And no, I don't have fun at all while losing, even considering the "but you get better when you lose and think about how you lost..." argument. So the only regret I have is not doing this sooner in season 1 and 2, I mean, being top diamond means that I'm capable of executing most builds and deflecting most cheese, so there is absolutely no motivation for me to get any better than I am currently.

To recap:

Causes/reasons:

1. I have zero motivation to get better than top diamond because I can execute most builds decently and scout/deflect most cheese found in lower leagues.

2. I play this game for fun, not for getting better or sense of self-accomplishment.

3. I hate losing, and I love winning.

Result:

Currently demoted to gold league, but facing top platinum players, when I start losing against mid-top diamond players, I'll quit ~15-20 games in a row to drop my MMR back to low plat again so I can keep having fun.

Conclusion:

The matchmaking system is great, but nevertheless quite flawed and exploitable by players like me.

P.S. Blizzard policy forbids what I do, but honestly there's no way they can detect/stop me for what I do. I mean, they could technically implement a detection algorithm where a player losing ~15 games in under 0:02 seconds in a row would result in warnings/bans, but if it gets to that point I'd just win 1-5 games, then quit another 1-5 games so my MMR would still stay far below my skill level and enable me to win 99% of the games that I do play and thus avoid the detection algorithm.

So its exploitable by babies who are too bad to get good at the game, and instead drop their ranking to bash on noobs?

I don't understand what point you're trying to make.

You should probably grow the fuck up and play a different game. Like just reading what you wrote makes me want to kill a fucking baby that someones so ignorant.

Here's how you exploit the system and become careless about your score.

1. Drop down to bronze.
2. Go back to Master's.

It takes about 140 losses to get to Bronze, but it takes about 320 wins to get back to Masters depending how far in the season you are (winning takes longer than losing, so getting back is harder).

Your ratio is now above 50% and losing several games actually no longer really has that much of an effect.

The downside? People will hate you for "farming" wins.

So essentially, yeah, it's what you are doing, just more long-term.

Of course I expect replies like yours, but you're way off.

Read again that I play the game for fun, not for getting better, feeling good about myself, or for sense of self-accomplishment.

Why would I play a different game? SC2 is great for relaxing 1-2 hours 3-4 times a week, and I enjoy winning and having this past time for fun thank you very much.

You just said you play the game for fun and not for a sense of self-accomplishment. Why the emphasis on winning?

You couldn't be any more self-contradictory.

Low self esteem because losing is to scary for someone who has never challenged themselves at anything.

This is like a high school kid not able to play on varsity and going to go beat up on the 7 year olds in the park.

Thread renamed.

I'm trying to imagine a matchmaking system that would beat someone purposefully taking a dive to play worse players. BW Ladder - no. ELO - no. MMR - no. What do you expect?

Nope, that appears to be the gist of this blog. T_T;

This is indeed an exploit, but... Really? You hate losing so much that you refuse to improve as a player and would rather get wins that mean absolutely nothing to you? You don't even seem to have the drive that most people do for using this exploit: portraits. O_o

I guess to each his own, but... I guess I really just don't get it. In my opinion, if you don't enjoy playing a game the way it was meant to be played, please just go play a different game instead of ruining it for others.

In the process of quitting ~20 games again, so I'll babysit my thread.

I have fun while winning, aka I enjoy crushing noobs, no let me rephrase, people who are more noob than me with fun and non-standard builds. Obviously it's not for sense of self-accomplishment, because self-accomplishment would equal getting rank #1 in the GM league.

I don't know how to be more clear than that.

What is wrong with you mang...

Play the ladder like its meant to be played. You talk about bnet being easily "exploited" and that's exactly what you are doing. I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make. Is this a brag post?

If you want an easy game just queue custom games. People do w.e there.

Yes, you play the game for fun, but so do the people you play against, and having to play against someone who is leagues above you in skill or having your opponent leave the game the instant the game starts is not fun. You may be having fun crushing people in plat, but they are most definitely not.

Believe it or not, there are ways to have fun in SC2 without being an ass to others, and it shouldn't be necessary for you to win to have fun. If you want to have fun, then do fun strategies (ghost/nuke rush, mass ravens, funday monday type stuff), don't tank your mmr so you can ruin the laddering experience of other people. >_>

You should just drop down to bronze and play a different race.
I do that. I play Zerg and only know how to play Zerg since BW. Unit production facilities literally confuse me and rallying all my units is hard because they're not all coming out of place (the hatchery).

Your macro will be slightly better because you know the Day 9 rule of always making probes and pylon or scvs and supply depots, but you wont know any hard-based strategy and everything will be slow for you to enjoy the late-game aspect.

You obviously have it all wrong....

Here's the strategy.
1. Buy X amount of guest passes on Ebay ($1-2 bucks each). Then make a new account (7 hours trial) and lose the first 5 placement matches. Then when the next 20 games till it brings you to the appropriate level. Enjoy cheesing, standard play, crazy whatever you want play.

2. Use next guest pass and repeat step 1.

No need to waste time quitting games when you can spend a buck for 7 hours of FUN!

Low self esteem because losing is to scary for someone who has never challenged themselves at anything.

adding more- Losing is incredible important in learning. If you can not take a loss maybe you should not play the game. This is like a high school kid not able to play on varsity and going to go beat up on the 7 year olds in the park.

Quite the contrary.

I started in gold league in season 1, and had coaching to get all my races to top diamond - low masters because I realized that I sucked hard (harder than I do now) and needed to get better because I didn't even know any builds.

Then after getting top diamond, I realized all the hardwork that it would take to move up in the master league, and given my lack of time, there's no reason to try and inevitably fail.

Dont you find yourself being a bit over-aggressive and antagonistic even if you don't realize that your opinion holds as little value as my own or that your stigma will probably have no effect on the blogger and his intent or actions you dislike and will ultimately just scoff at you because you treat him similarly to another person of a higher degree of disappointment on your behalf; this disappointment being but a restrained nerve of yours to impulsively, demean and insult the person but you thankfully have the forethought to know of the consequences if you exert such mean-spirited behavior and talk that is highly frowned upon within the 10 commandments of TeamLiquid.net and basic moral codes of human interaction and social convention of courtesy?
