The current death count from the bombings is, as far as I know, 7. I'm not certain at what time, but an hour, maybe two after the bombings there were reports about shooting at Utøya, where 700 members of the youth section of the norwegian labour party were at their anual summer camp. A man, dressed as a police officer had claimed to be doing a routine check. He showed up at the island, pulled out an automatic machine gun (Edit: Might have been a rifle + a glock. Not sure) and started shooting. Reports also claim that the man lured the teenagers to come to him before he executed them. Teenagers has been spotted swimming towards shore. Police was delayed by the chaos within the capitol, and the man had almost an hour of free roaming at Utøya. As the police arrived they managed to arrest the shooter. Uncomfirmed death tolls are in the region of 30-50. | ||

I do realize this sounds logical from a "sitting behind the computer screen" perspective but still I can't help thinking about it Oh and also on the topic about no guards on the island. If the guy was disguised as a cop wouldn't it make sense he would target the guard/guards first in a surprise attack and thus they would be completely "useless" when it comes to controlling the situation | ||

That just doesn't happen unless you are trained. | ||

Norwegian police say man arrested at youth camp shooting is linked to the bombing in #Oslo It's obvious that there was some sort of link, but this presumably means that he was likely to be involved in actually bombing Oslo, rather than, say, an outraged citizen venting his anger at the bombing and blaming the Labour Party, or an opportunist using the bombing as an excuse to commit other atrocities (like the post 9/11 anthrax mailer). | ||
