Edit: http://nasl.tv/ is updated, check it out. Everything below isn´t needed anymore Nice layout!
Since there are several threads spread over SC2 General and Tourneys I try to put everything in one place. If mods or majority of community say it´s not needed, feel free to tell me. I just wanted something like this for myself. This thread should not replace the other ones, just be a source with links and short overviews for every theme. Links to all existent TL threads as well to official sources are put in below, please use them for further informations. I try to keep it up to date, so please give feedback if I missed things.

Awesome complation! Everything a man could hope for
My only question is can you watch the rebroadcast if you don't live in europe? Like could I re-watch the games at 11 am Central time when they rebroadcast them or is it region specific?

Backwater Gulch is in the map pool, wtf?

Thanks OP, it was a pain trying to dig through several different threads to get the whole picture!

First broadcasting day should be 12.april and if you look at "tournament format" it says that final are in week 13 so the 3rd week in June if I´m right. Quite a long time, there are for sure more and detailed informtions till then.

It´s just called this way because of the time they rebroadcast it. Everybody is able to watch it. Just beware of spoilers the day before on TL

On http://nasl.tv/ click on "presale ticket" in upper right. If you don´t see it clear your cache/cookies (I had the case that the site didn´t actualise when going through browser history). When buying the ticket theres a field where you must write "presalenasl", the discount isn´t shown on the site, just when you check your bank account. great compilation... thanks so mcuh!

Wow that is one top heavy prizepool. I look forward to NASL I hope it does well and allows many people to play SC2 fulltime as a lot of foreigners can't play all day since they don't get enough prize money to afford to do so.
|
its kinda stupid that still people are comparing GSL to NASL They are both different in many ways. Also NASL can't fit to 3 weeks just like GSL considering it have EUR, CAN, USA, KOR and SEA players

has there been any mention of who provides the prize pool? ie who's the sponsor?

There is an other thread in General where top heavy distribution is heavily discussed. In Pricepool Distribution that´s also one of the most discussed point. Therefor I put that comparison in the op to provide a bit more than pure informations.

If only they had some kind of website where they could compile this information and present it in an organized and professional fashion to their customer base like a company that is actually trying to create and sell a quality product...
Their website doesn't even tell you what day/time the broadcast starts last I checked which means that to tell my friends about NASL I have to link them to random TL threads which can't be good for business.
All that aside though I am super pumped for NASL . I just don't want them to fail because they aren't handling the business side of things optimally.
As a business any time you have customers asking questions like this

You're NOT going to get replays. You'll get access to the VODs with the season ticket, but no one is getting replays.

Thanks. I think it was the cookies thing that make me not seeing it. Anyway, it seems it's a bit too late now. But still, 25$ for a tons of VODs is more than a good deal :-)

The UK is now in British Summer Time, so we are effectivly in the same time zone as central Europe. This may or may not affect the rebroardcast times depending on wether this has been accouted for.

So what's keeping the NASL from "being able to release replays"? Is it that they can't or won't? The wording by Xeris implies that they can't; I'm just curious why?
Also, what's the "more creative" idea?

Because they don't want someone else taking the replays, casting it themselves and putting it on Youtube so people who didn't get a subscription can go watch those instead of paying.

I'm pretty sure that's not why.
It has something to do with the legality of charging money for in-game content. As the creator and distributor of the NASL broadcast, they are free to charge for video on demand of that broadcast. But the replays are not NASL's property, they are played on Battle.net and charging people for access to something that cannot be copyrighted is a gray area.

But part of the whole perk to NASL was their production value. The quality of THEIR casters. The editing of the cast. That's exactly what you're paying for with your ticket, and you won't get that kind of quality with another caster that doesn't have the resources NASL has.
So if someone else casts a replay that's released; they won't get what you paid to get with your NASL ticket.
That's at least how I've always viewed the NASL access. Kind of how you can get a bootleg version of a movie that just came out....but you could pay money to see it on the big screen, with amazing sound, and amazing quality. And people pay for that all the time. I'd pay for that too. I'd just also like to go back, after watching an amazing match, and analyze game specifics that you can only get from a replay.

I'm not a fan of the map schedule (not the map pool, but the way they are scheduled). Is there a good reason for why the map pool for all the matches on any given day should be the same? From a spectator point of view, it seems like it would be a bad thing since you're going to repeatedly see the same maps despite the large map pool. For example, in day 1, we only get to see people play on terminus, crossfire, and backwater. Xel'naga caverns doesn't show up at all until week 3, at which point crevasse goes on a 2-week hiatus...
I guess it's the best way to make sure that each player gets to play each map a roughly equal amount of times, but I don't think that really adds any "fairness" or anything, since not everyone plays the same race match-ups anyway. And even if you have to enforce this (each column of the little map table must have each of the 9 map groups appearing once), they could at least mix up the order a little so map group F shows up before week 5.
|
Does anyone know how will they solve the KR-EU lag? Also, on what server will NA-EU and KR-NA be played?
Will it be the same as in TSL?

Well I guess for new spectators who don´t know much about sc it´s much more easy to get into it if you see the same 3 maps for 5 matchups instead of 9 maps. If like it much more if the same maps are played, it´s more simple to compare the matches. Keep in mind it´s also ment for "noobs" (in no way a bad meaning).

Don´t know about it, but KR-Eu seems unplayable. I guess for fair conditions everyone has to play on US, so everyone can prepare for lag. Jinro made a good post about that here

I kind of agree with you, but they need a way to structure the tournament in as fair a way as possible. Also, on day 1 there are 5 games, 1 from each division, so we will see 5 matches (bo3), and they will go through maps A through G potentially over the course of the games. We're guaranteed to see 6 different maps played in one night.
However, the point about XNC and Crevasse being on hiatus is accurate and that is a little disappointing to me, but it could just as easily have been a random pool selection and every match is played on the same 3 maps by sheer dumb luck. The way NASL is structured is to give the most diverse experience to the viewer. The divisions are set up to each have a couple koreans, a nice mix of races for good matchups and a different map sequence to keep things fresh.

Sorry if this has been asked already,
But what is the format of the re-qualifying tournament for the bottom 16? Will it be bracketed, a round robin or something else?

Yeah found on nasl twitter
+ Show Spoiler +@notlobot #NASLS1 yes the season pass includes replays per our FAQ Donnerstag, 7. April 2011 03:34:16 via Twitter for iPad als Antwort auf notlobot
But since Xeris answer was more up to date I didn´t quote that. Must have been a late decision, good that you asked they shoud have updated the FAQ.
But why now no ticket? Do you just watch replays normaly and no vods? I will not buy a ticket because of no paypal yet and I don´t have a good Inet connection, hopefully LQ runs smooth. Since I watch commercials then I don´t have a bad conscience for "not supporting e-sports"
