Transition from SC2 will be difficult but you can pull through. Browse through older "Coming into BW" games and you'll see a lot of helpful tips. Everyone else will provide the technicalities but i strongly congratulate your transition and in fact I can call you quite lucky because it exactly 20 minutes, you can watch the play off rounds of top progamers live. I highly recommend you watch that and get some visual experience under your belt. You'll enjoy it to boot. GL and enjoy your stay ^_^

Getting the latest version To play on our server you will need a StarCraft: BroodWar 1.16.1 client. If you don't have one, you can download it from http://files.theabyss.ru/sc/starcraft.zip Note: You won't be able join official servers. We strictly recommend you to buy a licese copy. http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/sc_start.html You don't need a CD key to play on iccup. Just install the server onto the server list from the aforementioned site.

If you need any help with general builds/game flow, add ConversiOn on iCCup. I'm a D player at best, but I can help you progress through if you promise not to get impatient and pissed off at me.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/search.php?q=sc2&t=ct&f=6&u=&gb=date You should make only melee games at first so that no points will be deducted. After losing some 20~30 odd games, you will win your first game against someone who is as clueless as you are. After losing another 20~30 odd games, you will manage to win against someone who plays standard, but really badly. Numbers are exaggerated but it's more or less how my Iccup experience went.

It'll help familiarize you with the controls/units. It will lessen frustration. A lot. Not enough

Not enough a good idea, but unfortunately iccup install doesn't have campaign, just multiplayer :/ you could just play custom vs computer though, I guess.

hop directly onto iCCup, get beaten 100 times before taking your first win, get frustated you cant win, search for strategies on liquipedia, try to execute them, complete fail, try again, fail but this time the game lasted longer, try again, you could almost hold him, try again, you now put up a good fight, try again, you know understand the basic timings and the basic reasoning behind the build, try again and win, blog it on TL. EPIC!! ![]()

Try beating 7 AI on BGH without using the worker-attack-AI-retaliate-early-on Bug. You'll understand what macro is in a simple and subtle way :D rawrrawrrawr

If you find someone who's on the same level as you, immediately ask him if you two could practice together more often. It's always good to have a training partner.

Just learn to play against mech, when you get the hang of it it's quite easy against an opponent of similar ability imho.

And it's definitely worth it. You're gonna be telling your grandchildren the story of BW when they ask you what's that archaic game on your shelves granpa.

I bet I will be telling my grandchildren how ridiculously easy the games they play are when compared to ancient BW. Heh.
