I wanted to say that but didn't want to seem rude, but yeah it does see really off.

It would be nice to have had a proper doctor explain these conditions and why certain methods don't work. Then again that wouldn't be news. To put it simple: With i.v. feeding you circumvent the entire digestive system - something the body has a pretty hard time coping with. It is also incredibly hard to avoid infections in an i.v. line which in such a case as hers would most likely equal a deathsentence... EDIT: Just to mention one of the simpler problems: The pancreas releases more insulin when you get glucose orally than when you get it through an i.v. line - this is called the incretin effect. This happens because the pancreas actually reacts on the mere thought of being about to eat (roughly speaking obviously), but you circumvent this mechanism when using an i.v. line. And to the guy who said she couldn't go through surgery: She can, one would just have to put her on a ventilator and in a complete coma. The only reason for the 8 hour rule is to avoid aspiration - but if you put her on a ventilator you can block all acces to her lungs so aspiration becomes a non-issue. To make a parallel: when a traumapatient is recieved, you don't wait 8 hours before you operate if said patient needs an operation But you are right, it's definatly not optimal... I noticed I worded that badly, using IV as a supplement while still allowing for the digestive system to be working would that still stress the system? As for infections, aslong as you are careful it shouldn't be a major issue (while being a major hassle) I have a friend whos been on IV pretty much 12 hours a day because he was pretty much born without a proper stomache and he's never had a infection in his life. But if this works for her it works, it's just worrying that you never hear this stories about people over 50.

Edit: I miss you Man.Magic. Most emo people are use to being spoiled and having anything they want their whole lives. And when they dont get what they want or life gets a little hard, they whine and cry about it. If your born tough and have to be tough the whole time. you dont grow up neglecting the things you can do and have. This is just my opinion. This is pretty much the exact point. Some people just don't appreciate what they have... they just want more and more. "I want a new car." "I want the new i-Pad" Or people are complaining about their body or face so they go through numerous body surgeries or facial surgeries because they don't appreciate what they have whether it's material items or their actual body. Seeing people that come from lesser income having a happy life is always awesome and humble to see just like when you see people overcome their disabilities like this young woman. I swear the average age on this forum has to be like 12 though. You guys are just asking for bans by posting stupid comments that don't contribute anything even close to human intelligence on this thread. I know I'm happy with the things I have and the way I look. That's pretty much the main point of what she was saying in the youtube clip if anyone didn't see it yet.

Having a port á cath means a shitload of medication and you still run a pretty high risk of thrombosis and infections (no matter how careful you are really). But as you mention yourself, that is also the reason why you don't hear about any "old" people with these sorts of disorders... They simply die too early.

Doesn't this just create an opportunity to easily spot the trolls and wipe them out at once? Kinda efficient. Anyways, I was kind of confused about her chest as well. I don't get how the disease works, but aren't boobs basically fat and tissue?

People see her IRL every day and there's not a damn thing they can do about it because it's her human right to - you know - exist. And now childish little kids come on forums and say that it's too much for them? Give me a break. If we had to hide ugly people we'd have to shut down all the "post your picture" and "post a picture of you and your girlfriend" threads on every forum ever. No one is saying "hide ugly people". Sure, the guy who remarked about losing his 20/20 vision or whatever was certainly being a jerk, but it's not unreasonable to ask for images showing disfigured people or people with diseases that dramatically affect their appearance to be spoilered. Images like these are quite gruesome and can be unsettling. Is it that hard to believe that people have different tolerance thresholds for these kinds of things? Sure, some people might say she has to live with it while all I have to do is look at a picture. But it's not a zero-sum game. It's not like she suffers less just because I suffer a little, or vice-versa. Movies with graphic imagery are often given R ratings when they show disfigurement and stuff like that. Not everyone has a high resilience to gruesome/gory imagery. It has nothing to do with respect or lack thereof. For example, I think most people would rather not see the torture that occurred in concentration camps during the Holocaust. It doesn't mean we don't think those things didn't happen or that we understate the gravity of such things. I agree with what you are saying, but if you examine the way people were reacting to the pictures in the thread, they were all hostile and insulting. I would also argue that putting them in spoilers would enhance the "car wreck" mentality of people, and create even more negative reactions to the pictures. I agree completely, just because she was unfortunate enough to be born with such a disorder doesn't mean that a bunch of assholes should sit around on TL and poke fun at her. How would you guys feel if your wife is expecting a child and you hear the kid will have this disorder? Wouldn't be so funny would it? The fact that you make fun of her ugliness just reflects your inner-ugliness, as Mani already said. And we don't ask you to spoiler all of your comments do we?

We could use a lot of honey pot threads like this to weed out the idiots. Tdot is coming over to the Light Side finally.
