Protoss are a little underpowered in the mid-game, however protoss late game is super strong. The evolution of the game as it gets older will be towards longer macro games, which will in turn benefit the protoss players amongst us. I play protoss myself (2050 diamond) and I struggle with roaches at the moment. Everything else appears balanced to me!

You should check Nazgul's blink stalker skill XD,
he rolled IdrA with plain blink stalkers play straight up 3 games in a row and he took the game .

I suggest you to imagine Protoss ball of death in right hands (by in right hands I mean Tester/Genious/HuK playing). Ball of death consists of HT, Colossi, Stalker, Zealot, Sentry, Immortal. Now, as a terran what can you do vs that? Die a horrid death!
-Of course you can go mass Thor, but its unrealistic, you don't have enough factories.
-Tanks? Protoss will just walk away and take expo.
-MMM? they're melted right away.
-EMP? again, protoss walks away since you can't attack kiting Colossis.
Thats called protoss late game advantage.

But the actual problem is that protoss just don't survive till late game. Its Dilemma, which can be solved only by Blizzard.


yay a post that reveals why protoss late game is so hard, sadly even at the GSL protoss cant figure their shit out and win every game like they should vs terran with their current advantage only reason they don't win vs every terran comes down to 300+ apm drops and just utter harrasement till they just don't have money any more

the blink play was nice but once again its just an allin idra probably havent had too much experience with and it would not work against idra next time they meet as idra said he now knows how too beat it.

ghosts can cloak and hide much easier than the templars, which are basically screaming, "I'M HERE EMP HERE," at which point they turn into useless archons with nerfed attack speed/splash radius. At the minimum the morphing should be faster than it is now.

archon morph was already buffed and they are FAR from useless. they tank more rauderhits then any other P unit and deal very very solid dmg. most underused unit in the game imho.

whats really shocking is that blizzard ignores the fact that protoss is the most played race, followed by terran and zerg. If this game were balanced then there would be more protoss in the top 200 than terran, and more terran than z.

Exactly, in the first GSL the race with the most players qualified was protoss but the semis were 3 terran and a zerg. In the second GSL protoss had the second most players qualified but the semis were 3 terran and a zerg. You guys can theorycraft all you want about what unit mix beats what, but the statistics do not lie, Protoss does not do well at the highest levels and that is the problem.

And the top 200 which I was responding to. For example in NA top 200 there are 51 toss, 62 zerg, and 75 terran even though Protoss is the most played race. I dont have the time but you could compile the other regions top 200's and see the same thing with whatever sample size you want.

Yup, they tank when the battle is already over. Generally morphing archons is a waste. If i win the battle i'd rather have the templars back, if i lose it, by the time they (if) finished morphing they will be killed pretty fast.

I really don't get why they aren't more powerful. Perhaps the problem would be storming then morhping would be OP, on which case they could simply make it so they could only be morphed if the templars had above a certain value of energy

Anyway, how they are now, they should be one of most useless units ig. Pretty sad for such a cool unit.

Just because they are the most played race, and the least represented in the top 200 doesn't mean they are underpowered. If everyone had the same skill level then sure, what you are saying would be true. For all we know the race is fine, but they have less high level players playing that race.

Protoss did pretty well in MLG last weekend, certainly a lot better than the Zerg players. Maybe foreigners have a better philosophy when it comes to Protoss or something.

You act like that isnt a problem in itself. No high level players are going to switch to protoss without a buff and they will continue to suck at the pro level. Either way something has to be done.
