I played a game against someone who at the end (when he lost after a great badplayer vs badplayer battle)
1) said 'sry'
2) paused the game
3) ah then said that he had a memory modification and was probably a hacker
4) he dropped from the game.

or in about that order. (2 and 3 may be switched). Is this a hacker?

Yes - they can often hack to nullify the game from reporting. Or they could. Just manually report and they should get in trouble and you free points.

its inevitable

You are really annoying and I hate you. I feel like your entire purpose in this thread is just to be obnoxious.

Maybe he just didn't have his anti-hack on? or does one person having the AH on "disable" hacks for the game?

What I believe it does is make sure no other program (apart from itself) is modifying your particular game. Which is why they give you the option to ban people who don't have AH on. When two people play with AH On there shouldn't be hacks. If one has it and one doesn't that just says one of them isn't hacking while the other could still be running hacks. Its not like that old hack detector plugin, it doesn't work like that if I understand it correctly.

why dont you go to his view and wait for him to stare at your base? oh wait......
Inputting special characters into chat should no longer cause the game to crash.

If you're going to accuse someone of hacking than provide replays. I know it's a general question, but it annoys me when someone starts complaining about hacks, because they lost. Provide replays, so we can see if there is truth to your claim/suspicion or you just can't take a loss.

i thought you can deactivate the anti-hack of iccup? so if the map hack is working therefore it shows that he just disabled AH. you can report him anyways if you really think he is using hacks

I don't think there is much to think about. Maybe if you rephrase your question to "do hackers kill your motivation to play", it would be easier to answer.

I mean after all, nobody likes hacks and ICC is as much of a hack-free environment as you can get. It is not free of hacks, due to private hacks but at least it keeps the public hacks at bay.

Does it influence my motivation to play games? No, it does not as hacking in general is not as prevalent as in regular Bnet.

Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.

you are wrong. there wasn't any working hack for iCCup some time ago.

You are wrong

how would u know there werent private hacks

there is no way you looked through every single persons computer in this world to see if they have a private hack that works on iccup.

there has always been hackers
and there will always be hackers

have a good day

if someone is using a private hack, chances are I won't be playing against a map hacker or even only 1 out of 1 million of my games are going to be against a map hacker.

don't be so damn annoying. of course I'm talking about public hacks.

I started this thread to know people experience about map-hacking on iCCup and opinions about motivation to keep playing the game when you know there are public working hacks.

Its really a lot of what Day9 talks about. The whole, "He will never expect me to go mutalisk!!!" kind of mentality. You should play like, he will know I am going mutalisk and not just depend on complete surprise and scream hax because he built a few cannons.

it's just that I don't see any point of playing BW if I can't do any kind of surprise. I completely lost motivation to keep playing BW, I will just wait for SC2...

replying to your point about surprise strategies, imo, you are wrong.

I can lose games solely because someone is using a map-hack, because I won't be able to get a hidden expo, any all-in will fail and in the late game if, for instance, I save lots of mutas near his base to make guardians, he will defend that. he will know where my defilers are and will know if I'm doing a huge drop in his base. he will know where I don't have enough defense and will attack it, maybe for an all in. also, no chance of getting a hidden hatchery in his main. I could mention hundreds of situations here.
how can it not be the solely cause of winning or not a game?

of corse it won't be the case for all games against a map-hacker, but for me, is a huge factor to make the game fun or not.

I love doing some kind of all-in builds and not having this option is awful and like I said, I don't see any reason to keep playing the game if I can't do any of those things.

there are lots of zerg all-in builds, don't understimate them.

I did. This idea didn't just pop in to your head out of nowhere. You played some games and "got the feeling" the guy was map hacking. And no, I don't think there's a lot of hacking on icc.

except that it is very possible that you've never actually played against someone who uses maphack. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT of what people are trying to tell you. that you can't assume someone is maphacking you just because he hardcountered your HIDDEN strategy. and that is why people are asking for replays.

i'm pretty sure sooner or later you'll find yourself losing motivation for SC2, because i'm pretty sure you'll find 'maphackers' there too.

I would not be surprised if there were maphacks working on iccup.

However I would not be so quick to write someone off just because they anticipated your build correctly. Players who are a lot better than you tend to be able to do that, and also when you play at high levels, some people have very good game sense. Just look at that Flash vs Calm game in PL where Calm goes for a 2 hatch lurker all-in and denies all scouting, and Flash throws down 3 bunkers at his nat in perfect timing before his comsats were even up.

Maphack was around since like a week after beta started, it's not stoppable unfortunately.

Been playing iccup for a year now and have never had the 'feeling' someone was map hacking. Don't be paranoid, if you are playing a terran maybe he scanned you and you didn't notice. If toss a well placed observe. Iccup is full of good players with good timings. For example, if know a toss expansion was just warped I can time a vulture harass right as he is maynarding probes 100% of intuition. I would say it is more likely that people you think are hacking just have very good game senses.

Post replays and stop being so stubborn, you probably faced 0 hackers. Nobody knows unless you actually show the evidence.
