I tried searching for "iCCup" here to see if someone already mentioned it, but there isn't a single thread about iccup and map-hacks.
Today I had like 3 games against the same person where I was like "wtf, how can he know that?". he always knew what I was doing and had a huge counter for everything. I only guessed it was map-hack after left BW. I kept playing to practice, but always amazed with how he always had counter for my mutas or lurkers.
of course, I can't guarantee there is a map-hack working for iCCup or even if someone used it against me, but I have that feeling...
so, I want to know what do you guys think about it. do you think that there really are people using map-hack on iCCup? will you keep playing BW anyway?
I really don't know if I have any motivation to keep playing BW if its really broke. I usually play standard macro games, but I love going something unexpected like pretending going 3 hatch hydras, but actually going mutas or pretending mutas but going lurkers, 3 hatch hydra with a proxy hatch for extra and extreme pressure, etc. etc. etc..

There has always been hackers and there will also be hackers
not just in starcraft but in every game.
have a good day

People have always hacked, can't do anything about it. There are, however, like you, a large amount of people who want to play the game honestly. So yes, I will keep playing BW, because a game this good isn't worth giving up because a person decides that he needs hacks to enjoy and/or succeed at the game.

he just was korean ;x, but u can probaly report him or somthing if he really was hackin

you are wrong. there wasn't any working hack for iCCup some time ago.

you are wrong. there always were selfwritten private hacks

You are wrong
how would u know there werent private hacks
there is no way you looked through every single persons computer in this world to see if they have a private hack that works on iccup.

You should add replays to back your theory up. Without replays there is no tellin whether or not he was using hack.

yeah haha
my last 3 games were against koreans, needless to say the result....
dont stress yourself too much over it. There are few hackers on iccup, but it is quite hard to run into them. If you are almost positive that was a hack, just report him and keep playing.

if youre playing low level opponents they tend not to notice your trickery, or they play the same build orders regardless of what youre doing

I'm not talking about one specific person or game. I'm asking the people here what they think about map-hack on iccup.

Well there is a point where surprise just doesnt work. I mean I remember when I played BW at a Cminus level I would just make cannons and just get an observatory unless I had exact counter information. Like if I didnt know what he was doing I had to make cannons or I just died to muta. I eventually HAD to get a robo because if he had a lair and he had a hydra den I would just die because he could get lurkers and I wouldnt have detect.
Its really a lot of what Day9 talks about. The whole, "He will never expect me to go mutalisk!!!" kind of mentality. You should play like, he will know I am going mutalisk and not just depend on complete surprise and scream hax because he built a few cannons.
|
either take a better look at the replay, consider he got lucky scouting, or use a better strategy?
you can't have lost solely because he "had a hard counter to your mutas or lurkers"
i think

I once played a guy (him without antihack) and he sent some weird code-like message just after my split, so i left (no ways he could split and type 10+ chars of something meaningless i thought). Should i find the rep and check it out?

might've been wDetector. it's a hack detector, and it has a watermark at the beginning of the game, saying the program, and version.

The goal of the iccup-anti-hack has always been keeping out public hacks. So if you find something breaking the anti-hack just report it to iccup. We cannot detect anti-anti-hacks which we don't know about.

Maybe he just didn't have his anti-hack on? or does one person having the AH on "disable" hacks for the game?
