Georgia teen Taylor LeBaron developed a method of tracking calories and working out on a gaming console, and it helped him shed 150 pounds in 18 months. He speaks with TODAY’s Meredith Vieira.

Click the link for video http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/34845477/ns/today-today_health/

“It has the same aspects of a video game,” the 17-year-old LeBaron told Meredith Vieira live on TODAY Thursday. “You have enemies, you have allies, and you have money. You have to play smart; otherwise, you run out of your money. Your score needs to be high at the end of the day.”

He also wrote a book about it. Rumors go that between the pages 50-55 there's hidden cheats & tricks.

I've always wondered if anyone was able to make a real exercise program out of the wiifit game.
Can't believe I'm still here playing this same game

Wow, thats weird.

I lost all my weight playing WoW years back, I simply ran in place when I played, and even helped friends online lose weight by just playing videogames AND moving.
We have multiple brackets generated in advance. Relax . (Kennigit) I just simply do not understand how it can be the time to play can be 22nd at 9:30 pm PST / midnight the 23rd at the same time. (GGzerg)

It's true for me as well. If I am on a serious run of starcraft games that lasts for like 8-10 hours I won't feel the hunger at all. When I stop gaming it hits me like a fist though, but still that means 1-2 meals per day not containing alot of calories. A pretty bad way of losing/not gaining weight... but nevertheless a way. XD

Me, and some other guys I know, lost a lot of weight just playing games 14+ hours a day. Food? Maybe after this game... which turns into 5 more hours. Then you're too tired to go get food.

Finally, LeBaron took control of his life by turning to the thing that helped make him fat in the first place: video games.

lollll this is just as pathetic as people who claim 'alcohol made me do it!'

Video games don't make you fat, lack of exercise and a horrible diet does. Playing video games has never stopped me from working out.

Wow, this is weird, cuz you can either get fat or really skinny, it's just all up to what you eat, and how much of it.

Hehe. I lost 100lbs in a year, so big ups to this guy.

Instead of substituting food with video games, how about every time you lose you do 20 push ups, 50 sit ups, and run for 2 minutes.

I think that's a bit healthier for you o_O

hahaha I didn't know i was the only one that subscribed to the zombie video game diet(ala world of warcraft or starcraft grinding). Like everyone else I don't feel the hunger unless I stop thinking about the game.

So basically this kid just went to the YMCA, got a personal trainer assigned to him, started working out and eating healthy, then somehow called it a video game and got national exposure?

I don't believe this- I've done hardly anything but play video games in the last 10 years and I've gone from 90 pounds to 280... I think they call that puberty, though

Are you certain you didn't eat a bit, too?

This is possibly the lamest weight loss story I've ever read. He wasn't even that fat, and he lost it through the most basic way possible: eating right and exercising. Not saying that was easy...but I mean really? This isn't news.

300lbs isn't that fat? Its 100lbs over obese for most people, especially when you have no muscle which if all you're doing is playing video games ... you have no muscle.

I used to call that the Star Craft Diet, which then became the Halo diet. I just played SC or Halo so much I didn't have time for food. Ironically, I actually got fatter....

This works/worked for me, when i played games a lot i lost weight. Even when i was eating a lot and everything i was not gaining any weight. I started to gain it only when working out and playing sports, which is kinda weird, cause it works other way round for everyone else.

lol i thot this was about some kid playing a ton of awesome games so awesome that he forgets that he's hungry and thus loses weight.

this isnt even that cool wtf its just the media jumping at anything that has any connotations to video games cuz it attracts viewers.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

the only way i can imagine to lose weight by playing video games is an excessive amount of dance dance revolution or the way they play in the movie 'gamer'

fucking christ, this is not a video game, there is no video game at all. Its a fucking mind game diet.
The titel was very misleading. This isnt revolutionary like what others said, its more of a keep your self on a agenda but mind games.
