Well I already know that I'm going to get a lot of heat over this but everything I seem to say gets a lot of heat. Before jumping to any conclusions I emplore you to have an open mind and actually consider this the next time you turn on the TV.
I think overall, black people are better at acting than whites. They are more likely to be natural and not overact, a common behavior in poor acting. Now I know there aren't a whole lot of black superstars in hollywood, but the majority of actors aren't big names. The majority of actors do television or small commercials. These are the people that have 30 second clips in a subway commercial, or bank commercial, or really any commercial.
This may not be politically correct but whatever, I'm not saying anything negative towards anyone...well I guess i'm saying whites are worse at acting than blacks...but people don't get all worked up over saying that black people can dance or that black people can sing well. Well...begin the FLAME!

Black people are definitely more emotional, I think that's probably why you feel they make better actors. But there are plenty of white people who make great actors.
Gotta say though, my two favorite actors of all time are Johnny Depp and Samuel L. Jackson in that order.

all im going to say is that there's a lot more white actors than black actors
similarly there's a lot more bad white actors than bad black actors

There could be environmental factors. Music and dance is big in african culture which is why a lot of blacks are great dancers. Perhaps the kind of socialization that is fostered just so happens to create good actors. It's not as simple as pure genetics.

Consider the average role of a black actor. There is certain aspects of what we expect from a black character in a hollywood movie. When the characterization is clear (and arguably, relatively planar), I maintain that the acting is easier to execute. In that sense, we may be giving the actors of memorable villains and badasses too much credit -- many characters in pulp fiction come to mind.

I have a feeling that biologists/stasticians are bit too busy to run studies to test your hypothesis.
What we know, however, is that there are inherent genetic differences between white and black people, some of which that run more than skin deep. Whether some of these differences can be conducive to "better acting" is neither proven nor rejected.
All of which was just to say: you could be wrong..and you could be right. It's not conclusive.

When you need deep acting in slow drama, whites are infinitely better, when you need a goofy acting for comedy or an action movie, then blacks are often better. What's the purpose of the thread, good ol' trolling-provocation? TV says it's awful to discuss races.

Hey, this way it's better not to answer to OP at all, not honestly at least. I can recall guys like Washington and in my opinion they're much weaker than Nortons and Deniros.

A logical explanation is that there is racism in Hollywood that doesn't allow the same opportunities for blacks as it does for whites so the blacks that you actually do see acting are super exceptional to actually become "discovered." Especially considering how many white actors get into films just because their dad is somebody famous. Like Potato head Rumer Willis or Paris Hilton or Ron Howard's daughter who got a spot in the new Twilight movie and bumped the actress that already had the role.

The whole idea of this discussion is just wrong, come on.
- There's no proof of any major genetic differences between black people and white people. Unless your'e religious you would also agree with me on that we all homo sapiens sapiens come from africa and belong to the same race.
- And if you think black actors are better than white actors. Then be my guest you have your opinion and you are welcome to say it out loud. But it's just an opinion, isn't worth more than any other.
There are no objective values, there is no proof for an actor gene that would separate black people from white in skill. All there is, is how the environment affects us, there is a chance that black people have it tougher and through that try harder and become better actors, but even then it would still be an opinion. Is there an objective law of what makes a good actor?
To put some weight behind my argument, I've studied both Philosophy and Antrophology, I hope this thread is dead when i wake up tomorrow. Good night

Min-Sik Choi from Oldboy is awesome, Kitano doesn't act much but just has this genius aura around him and Kuriyama is extremely hot. Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are both heroes of my childhood, they're the best

Especially in hollywood, the minority ethnicity rarely gets a role that is "normal" ie without societal expectations and stereotypes.
The best we can do, then, is to compare the actors in movies which they represent the majority race.
In that case, we have to look into African films, Asian films, etc... which brings up another set of complications for a fair comparison.
I say this thread was doomed to begin with.

Whenever I have seen a Black actor do a deep emotional role I think it has been better than the whiteys who do it on average. On the other hand, I have only seen the very pinnacle of black talent do those roles, while a lot of white people do those types of roles. On the other other hand, who the fuck cares.
