I don't wanna be offending against anyone but isn't it a bit silly to let the ladder stage take part even though another ladder stage of another tournament is taking place parallely?

we have 24 invited players!!! only 8 qualify through ladder and the ladder is only 1 week long... what more do you want?!?! there should always be at least a small portion being laddered as it allows newcomers to get in on the action of playing the big fellers!

Why can't you have a ladder as a qualification tournament? :S If you mean a single elimination tournament instead of a ladder, then you need to consider the advantage of a ladder is that it allows for more players to have a chance to play, since they can make their own schedule on a ladder. An elimination tournament with 200 people would have millions of issues with schedules.
