Good luck to everyone who plays in this tournament! Direct questions to myself, Magnum, or Benny and we can get back to you on it.
TL admins get pretty pissed when you post stuff with links and no content. If you claim as you did in your other thread that you are just in this for the love of the community and are not out to monetarize it, then why are you just making a completely useless post linking back to your site. I'm not trying to sound like a jackass, but your actions and words don't seem to match up, which makes me pretty dubious about your intentions.

I'm doing it because a lot of people see this website and not nearly as many at Gameoutloud. It makes complete sense and I see no reason to post all the same information here when I have laid it all out in an organized thread on GoL.
I don't know what your problem is, because I'm putting my own money into this tournament so people can see good games from some great foreigner players. Yes, that is right this first tournament came out of my pocket so how on Earth do you get to the conclusion that I'm doing this for money...
Generally our policy toward linking to another website is that it's fine as long as there's content created by the other site. For example, we allow linking to other sites for interviews or videos, with only a short preview or description of the information. It'd be inappropriate for us to force users to repost their content on our forums if they worked hard on it for another site.
That said, Kenny would you have any issues with reposting the tournament information here? You wrote:

But there isn't much information or fancy organization in that thread at all. It would take someone < 1 minute to copy paste it into a GOL Invitational Results and Standings thread on TL. If the only reason is you don't want to bother doing it, we can have someone here do it. Are you okay with that?

I think, people can start a site and have the wish that the site gets known and will create an own community like TL.net and GG.net. But to fulfill this wish you need to start somewhere and have to get viewers to ur site.
I think it's possible that someone wants to have a known community site because he loves StarCraft without thinking of money.
It's GoL's event so people should get to know the GoL site for it. It's just that, if you have more hits on ur own site, ur more proud.

Not really true. For instance, the NBA has its own site but all the results, player profiles, etc. are on ESPN. Does the NBA force ESPN users to go to their site? I think the same thing applies here. TeamLiquid is a heavily viewed news source for leagues and tournaments, the "ESPN" of StarCraft currently. What's wrong with posting information about all leagues on our forums? Especially if people want a centralized place to read about and discuss all the new leagues, why should they have to go 10 different sites?

I think its 24 people auto-invited to league stage, then 8 more spots open to everyone, for a total of 32 people. Don't think anyone is denied a chance to play, unless I read it wrong. The people they invited just get to skip the ladder part.

It was just the list of invites we were going to send out to the top players in case they did want to play in the tournament. If anything changes just let me know

i guess you need to ask HIM
That is why i posted on the forum, I assume he will read it and respond. Thank you though, for letting me know that I shouldn't direct my question at non-Idra people.
Also a question for Kenny: Will these be streamed ? I don't get the brackets either. Like, all the players invited are 'auto-seeded' into the Ro32 and it just goes from there?
Yeah so basically the first 24 are auto invited to the actual bracket phase of the tournament.
For this tournament it will be round robin group play. So for example, Idra would get automatically seeded into a group without having to play on an iccup ladder to qualify.
Also, there will be streaming/VOD's/Replays of these games

Commentators are Kenny and Rise I do believe. Not sure if Kenny wants to add anymore, for now I think it is just them
I invited as many people as I could from different countries etc, like I said if people don't fill up the 24 invite slots I will end up inviting other known gamers.
We were going to invite Nony, but I was told he is not active and it would be better to give this slot to other players.

so in the end I am ok with it
They are jealous that you were on national television.
Haha definitely not at all. I'd be extremely proud to have Incontrol play in it, in fact, if you'd like I want to extend an offer to invite you to the tournament as well since we still have open spots. Just pm me and let me know if you would be interested Geoff
We are open to the comments of the community but our initial idea was "well people are getting burned out having to play so long on the ladder phase, so why not shorten it so it doesn't drag on." If there is a lot of people asking for extension on the ladder, there is a good chance we will extend it.

another tournament with a ladder stage, great! (this was sarcastic for those who didn't notice) I don't wanna be offending against anyone but isn't it a bit silly to let the ladder stage take part even though another ladder stage of another tournament is taking place parallely?

we have 24 invited players!!! only 8 qualify through ladder and the ladder is only 1 week long... what more do you want?!?! there should always be at least a small portion being laddered as it allows newcomers to get in on the action of playing the big fellers!

what ever happened to qualification tournaments?
Why can't you have a ladder as a qualification tournament? :S If you mean a single elimination tournament instead of a ladder, then you need to consider the advantage of a ladder is that it allows for more players to have a chance to play, since they can make their own schedule on a ladder. An elimination tournament with 200 people would have millions of issues with schedules.

because EVERY tournament is having these little ladder stages and they're all overlapping and happening at around the same time. SCL, ASL, VAL, and now this one... before that there was Stamina. people are gonna end up suiciding because of too much bw.
Pissed off that they won't invite Incontrol when looking at that Z list, some of those Zs definantly don't deserve to take a spot over incontrol. Just shows that the organizers STILL don't know what the fuck they are doing these days.

no offense to inc, but all of those zergs (maybe except lz??) are better than him IMO, at least with their recent play.

Well invites just aren't going to be 'fair'. But the alternative is a ladder. And the point was just to not force everyone again to play ladders.
That's why I suggest in the future people pick invites based on performances in other tournaments. Then at least you can't really dispute "player x is better than player y". But even this invite list, the tournament organizers aren't implying that everyone who is on the list is better than everyone that isn't.

Alright guys, I will update this on GameoutLoud's page as well, but here are the 24 players who confirmed first, and therefore will be getting a spot in the tournament this time around.
I ask that all these players register on GoL's website so that you can keep updated with information on the tournament. If you miss information such as rules, times/dates, or anything else and you aren't registered, then we will give w.o to the other player. This is to keep the tournament organized and simple. If you all are there we can add you to the mailing list as well to send off dates/times. Players are:
Aerials Strelok Idra Raven Sarens Horror
White-ra IefNaij Dreiven Infernal Mana G5 Yayba datoby Louder
Ret Dinot Paranoid Chosen Lzgamer Machine xiaozi Naugrim Incontrol
He was to late on confirming into the tournament. The way it worked was the first 24 to respond got in. First come first serve and he was just a tad late. If he wants he can qualify on the Iccup team.

When does the qualifying round end? Like what date/time/time zone? It's too ambigious
Sunday May 3rd, 11:59pm PST =) Meaning for all you european players - you can play into the wee early hours of the 4th and still have your games count in the ladder
Kenny, please update the first post on your site and/or here on TL. The first post still says you're waiting for people to PM you for the first phase. You should update those with the current state of the tournament and what people should do, this is very confusing.
Are the top 8 at this moment on the GOL team the 8 who qualified or did it already change after that?
Saturday is the starting of the R032. Since it will be group play in round robin fashion, after the first day it will already be down to the final 8. I will get the brackets to you guys as soon as possible and explain more on how it will work.
Ok guys, I have ran the random generator and we have our groups for this next coming weekend!
Group 1:
Tarson White-Ra Jumper Castro
Group 2
Sarens Infernal Dinot Killer
Group 3:
Raven Horror Amazing Chosen
Group 4:
Aerials Iefnaij G5 Deska
Group 5:
Terran Louder Paranoid Machine
Group 6:
Strelok Idra Yayba Ret
Group 7:
Mana Datoby Xiaozi Naugrim
Group 8:
Dreiven Lzgamer Incontrol Black
These groups are completely random and final. Please if you are on this list PM me to confirm that you can show up this coming Saturday, the 9th at 10 PST/7pm CET. If you can't you will be replaced by the next ranked person from the qualifiers. I will announce more information and the official brackets once they are completed.
Remember it is group play round robin style, which means after the first day of play we will already be down to the final 8 players. All matches are b01 each player plays the others in their group once. Each win is worth 1 point. Person with most points after all games are played moves on. Top 8 in this tournament get automatic seed to the future tournaments. All players must save ALL replays or they will get auto loss for that game (unless otherwise stated).

Yeah we worked it out so it should be just fine. Please if you are a player in the tournament please confirm with me via pm that you will be there this weekend.
This will be the last bump for GOL invitational round of 32. I still need confirmations from quite a few players that they will be in channel GOL-INV tomorrow at 7pm CET//10am PST.
The only exception to this is group 6, and they need to be in that channel by 5PM CET/8am PST.
I will release the official final 8 as soon as our last group finishes. So if you were a player, if you can keep it secret just a bit more I would appreciate that!
Thanks again to everyone that showed up and soon we will have some great VOD's for all of you to watch.
I'm waiting on group 4 to get me their results, they said they would have them to me by this afternoon/evening. So G5/JF/Aerials/Deska if you guys know who won group please PM me.

Ok. Will there be VOD's or replays to watch then, or will that come later?
You're doing an awesome job with this, btw. I really enjoyed the streamed cast earlier. Two thumbs up!
As requested, here is the final 8 and who is playing who. The map pool will stay the same and the matches will be B03. All players in the final 8 check out gameoutloud.net for updates on when you need to play your matches.
No Idra?! Dammit! Guess I'll have to root for Brat_OK. I've fallen in love with his style lately; really entertaining to watch. Especially his TvP. Terran power!
When/where/how can I watch the already played games in the tournament?
@Holgerius we will be uploading a TON of the commentated VOD's on gameoutloud.net very soon (by tomorrow afternoon) and after the tournament is over we will release all the replays to the public in the form of a replay pack. All you have to do to watch them once they are uploaded is click on "Loud TV" and then from there click on VODs and there you go, choose whatever series you want to watch!

This sounds really great, I just had my last exam for the year, so now I need something to fill my time with, and this will be really cool. Hopefully there will be alot of replay packs coming now, both from this, and maybe from Valor, ASL and SCL.

All i Know is that in JF group Deska ended 2nd by going 2-1 (winning vs aerials and G5 and losing only to JF) to bad he didnt qualify, but nonetheless great job! Awesome results by ret hope he beat Idra and that game wasnt a W.O
Kenny this is still a bit confusing. I was looking around for brackets of the Ro32 and ended up spoiling myself. We go to the GOL page and all we have is a forum post with info spread around the many pages which ends up spoiling results you didn't want to see.
It would be nice if we could click on the main page, click on a "GOL invitational season 1" link, and that would show us: - what each phase of the tournament is - what phase the tournament is currently on - links to each phase, showing full brackets (and dates) - links to vods that are up - a separate link to the discussion thread on the forum, but don't force us to go in there for the brackets
That would make our lives much easier I'm loving this tournament so far, hope you can improve it even more!
Top 8 I still need PMs, sorry to keep bumping but I don't know all of your screen names so sending me a PM to confirm would be really appreciated. Also, if you can get in touch with your opponent to confirm a play time between the both of you if you can't make it at scheduled time would be great.
Ok guys the tournament is down to the final 4! I had some issues with lag on my stream yesterday which I'd like to personally apologize. I did just about everything you can to technically troubleshoot and fix the issue, with no result. My honest guess is that it had something to do with security software, or my absolutely terrible computer.
So I did two things. I ordered computer parts (going to make a new computer, which is way overdue) and I upgraded my upload speeds/download speeds even more (although I already have 32mb down and 6mb up).
I will be doing non-live VOD casts for now until I get the new system setup and then I will go back to doing live casts. After I cast the final 4 matches today and we put up the VOD's, I will release the final 4 brackets along with dates/times. Thanks for the patience
Hey Kenny, are you sure that computer lag of yours isn't just your video card (affecting only what is displaying on your monitor, but not the rest). Because I remember watching some of those ro32 vods you uploaded, where you were complaining a lot about having a big computer lag that the stream would probably be horrible for us. But the stream was actually pretty fine, watch the vod yourself, it is pretty good. Unless someone else is complaining about it?
Maybe it isn't as bad as you think. Of course it would make it easier for you to cast with less lag. But it doesn't degrade the video quality for the end spectator.
I cannot find results vods or brackets on that site,I am sorry but I am trying for 15 minutes now and all I got was some qpad ad video. In you opening post you should have results the current stage of the tourney and vods.
oh after lots of search I got the vods ,I had to click on set list and wait for 2-3 minutes to load the page -)
