Analysis: This map pool is really difficult for Woongjin to gameplan around in my opinion. EffOrt has to be a favorite to win the first two sets regardless of who Woongjin plays in set 2 (considering EffOrt's stellar ZvZ, how difficult Neo Harmony is for PvZ, and the fact that Woongjin has no good Terrans). If WJ is down 0-2 going into game 3 it would be hard to not play free on Chupung, but even if free wins that game he'll be easily countered on Rush Hour by either Iris or sKyHigh. If free won and he subsequently lost on Rush Hour I don't think whoever is left on Woongjin's roster could win three straight against CJ. I think Woongjin really needs Guemchi/ZerO/GGPlay to upset EffOrt somehow in one of the first two sets or all paths lead to defeat. Who the hell is GuemChi? Has a negative record but runs OGN (was it OGN?) last set.
|
Haha, starting with Guemchi again. Careful CJ!
|
Lets go Stars at least let GGPlay 3rd set :D
|
effOrt < GuemChi sAviOr > GuemChi sAviOr > Ganzi sAviOr > Free sAviOr < ZerO Iris < ZerO skYhigH < ZerO
gogogo FPL

Yeah I totally forgot about GGplay. him and Free give Stars a chance!
Although Savior All kill would be very nice
|
Actually, Free's the only one that would likely win against Savior, if I think of who's on Woongjin...
|

Free, ZerO and GGPlay can all beat Savior. Whether they're playing up to par tonight is what is yet to be seen.
|
Zero isn't better than Effort what are you smoking
|
Guemchi better get taken to pieces, that's all I care about. I want Effort to mentally destroy him, so much so Guemchi bear dreams about it at night. Over and over in his head he will see this image. This should then hopefully lead to insomnia and depression. Eventually Guemchi will leave the Woongjin house and go find a cave to hide in; there he will meet Intrigue and all the other fantasy owners who thought it was a good idea to put some random Protoss in their team just because he was a starting player in week1.
|
I really hope ZerO plays tonight. I need FPL points really bad.
I'm anxious for the trades to start.
|
I think CJ should have this pretty easily. Gogo Effort!
|
This should be pretty good, hopfully goes to game 7.
Expect at least 2 ZvZs though
|
How can you predict a BO win?
This is a sad day. First day without Corinthos
Also the first day with Obama. I'm struggling to decide which affects me more.
|
i just want effort to go 3-0 then free to clean it up with an all kill.
i know i know.. it's for my fantasy teams!
but free fighting!

For my fantasy-team I want savior to all kill (and fanboyism!!!!) But I think efforts gonna allkill
|
guemchi isn't bad (watch his near-comeback victory vs flash and his win against yarnc), and seeing as he has free to learn and train with, i wouldn't expect him to be. free can take effort down. zero and ggplay are good zvz's and zvt's.

Where can I watch? I tried the links but they all lag like shit.

I need ZerO to pick up some points for me today, or my fantasy hopes are pretty much gone. My team has been seriously under-performing. T_T

Oh daum. Your perfect audio and terrible visual slide show always makes for such a delightfully frustrating combination!
|
anyone has livestream for this match, plz?
I tried all but still can't watch it
|
Match has started
Effort is red at 11 o'clock Guemchi is purple at 1 o'clock
I'm a bit behind since my internet died out at 8:05
|
Effort vs. Guemchi starting.
Effort 12 Hatch, Guemchi FEing. Nexus after Forge.
|
Not quite sure what Effort did, looks like a overpool expand or 12 hatch -_-
Guemchi with Forge FE, skipping cannons in response to Effort's fast expo
|
Hope SkyHigh shows up in this round; I really need the Fantasy points after Flash/JangBi/July issues.
|
guemchi standard fe (forge-nexus) effort 12 hatch (i think)
|
Effort taking his third, 3 hatch play
only 1 cannon for Guemchi at his main choke
Core going up for Guemchi
|
effort has 4 lings denying guemchi's scouts.
|
ok Realpenguin will LR, hes good at it.
|
|
Zealot out for Guemchi, going right for Effort's main, ignoring the 3 zerglings chasing it
The zealot sees a Spire going up in Effort's main
Stargate going up for Guemchi
|
effort lost an ovie to goon!
|
guemchi stargate/robo sair/reaver harass expected.
|
Robo going up as well for Guemchi
YAHHH EFFORT RUNNING IN 5 LINGS INTO GUEMCHI'S NAT
But not a lot of damage was done.
|
Effort almost gets his drone killed while trying to take his 3rd, but gets it up with another drone.
Guemchi sneaks a zealot in and see's efforts spire.
Sair Reaver for Guemchi.
Effort runsby and gets 5 lings through. They disrupt mining a bit, but don't do too much harm.
|
Corsair is out, taking out a stray overlord
Effort putting up a hydra den and evo chamber
|
what player are you guys using to watch? i'm trying daum player but its buffering up the ass and the sports link isnt any better. =/
|
Support Bay finished for Guemchi
Effort flying scourge around Guemchi's main, sees the Support Bay and Stargate
Yahh the pair of scourge snipe a corsair
|
Scourges take down a corsair.
Nothing much going on besides that so far.
|
1st Reaver out for Guemchi
Observatory going up
|
|
|
Citadel of Adun going up
Guemchi killing his neutral sunk
Effort putting up spores at each of his bases
|
Bunch of hydraling outside of Guemchi's main choke
Shuttle loaded up with Reaver, being escorted by sairs
|
Guemchi takes out the sunken near his choke.
Effort massing units; Guemchi seems to upping weapons.
|
Spore Colony drives shuttle away. Reavers manage to get one shot and kill about 2 drones.
|
Guemchi drops Effort's third with the reaver, only taking out 2 drones and gets the reaver out safely
Hydras still chilling outside Guemchi's base
Guemchi taking his third
|
Effort morphing some lurks at his main choke
DT out for Guemchi, bgoing to the bottom right of the map
DT being stalked by overlords
|
drop incoming on guemchi.
|
OH NO EFFORT LOADING HIS OVIES WITH HYDRALURK
OVERLORDS GOING RIGHT INTO THE NAT
YAHHHH OVERLORDS DROP ALL THEY HAVE, CORSAIRS UNABLE TO STOP THEM
|
effort is going to drop...
|
didnt do much, got 1 cannon, but its stopping guemchi from mining.
|
LURKS BURROWED BEHIND THE NAT MINLINE, PROBES PULLED
SHUTTLE WITH 2 REAVERS COME BACK TO SAVE THE DAY, BUT MINING IS STILL IMPOSSIBLE AT THE NAT
Effort trying to attack Guemchi's 3rd, but is driven off by some storm
|
big drop inc on guemchis inside nat.
|
guemchi cleans up the mess at his expo and sends zealots to kill Efforts 4th exp.
|
Looks like Guemchi lost quite a few Sairs, but the observer missed what happened
YAHHH EFFORT DROPPING A MASS AMOUNT OF HYDRAS ON THE NAT
GUEMCHI BRINGING BACK HIS REAVERS AND A BUNCH OF ZEALOTS TO DEAL WITH IT
HYDRAS GET BACK IN THE OVERLORDS SAFELY AND RUN OFF
|
OMG IT SURVIVED WITH LIKE 1 HP
|
YAHHH GUEMCHI SENDING ZEALOTS TO SNIPE EFFORT'S 4TH HATCH
IT'S GOING DOWN.... AHHH BUT HYDRAS COMING TO HOLD IT OFF
YAHHH THE HATCHERY LIVES
|
Lurkers stopping Guemchi's mining at his natural. Guemchi's reavers clean up the lurkers.
Another drop arriving by Effort. Guemchi sends Zealots over to Effort's 3 o clock, Effort barely saves the hatchery with verryyy little life remaining.
|
guemchi storm drops and kills like 6-8 drones. also finishes off efforts 4th.
|
ANOTHER DROP ON GUEMCHI'S NAT, HYDRALURK
Drop is easily dealt with using some new zealots and goons
Guemchi storm dropping a bunch of Effort's bases, getting a decent amount of probes
|
|
Mutas out for effort
Mutas trying to snipe shuttle, but it gets away
Mutas now attacking Guemchi's nat, forcing probes away
|
a storm drop behind effort's nat and main kill some drones
|
Lots of zealot/goon/HT come to save the day, but mutas are still alive
YAHH MUTAS RUNNING INTO THE MAIN, SNIPING A REAVER AND A BUNCH OF PROBES
Mutas running off again to the nat
|
Effort is so exciting to watch always. Probably because he is so new, its fun to make up your impressions of his gameplay.
|
Effort still trying to continue muta harass, but storms have severely damaged them
Guemchi gathering units outside his base, and now moving out towards the middle of the map
|
Another storm drop for Guemchi, harassing Effort a bit more with HT.
Trying to discern so much with slideshows is difficult. :[
Mutas attack Guemchi's nat
Mutas fly into Guemchi's main, sniping a reaver and a few probes along the way. Mutas continuing to harass the nat sniping a few more probes.
|
Oh, Guem Guem knows its over.
|
the upgraded shuttle is chasing by 3mutas and 4 scourges
|
Huh, Guemchi sees another drop incoming and brings his entire army back
Drops forced out easily, but still alive
|
Drop incoming by Effort apparently. Lands a few hydras into Guemchi's main.
|
What stream are you guys using?
daum sports is just a bufferfest, as is daum player
|
Effort's 4th and 5th at 3 and 5 o'clock respectively are up and running
Guemchi trying to drop Effort's nat, but it gets taken out by a Spore
Guemchi now moving out with his entire army to Effort's 3 o'clock
|

Yeah, I have a slideshow going on with my DaumSports. But with the live report it is not bad.
|
Effort is ready with a bunch of lurks and hydras, but Guemchi's army takes out most of it
YAHH MORE DROPS IN GUEMCHI'S MAIN, GUEMCHI CONTINUING THE ATTACK WITH HIS MAIN ARMY IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE MAP
Drops are dealt with using some reinforcements
|
man fuck daum, lags so much
|
Guemchi trying to sneak an expo at 7 o'clock, but is caught by Effort
Guemchi's army attacking at 5 o'clock is taken out by a large amount of hydralurk
|
Effort morphing many lurkers. Guemchi's army moving around in the center.
A few hydras in Effort's army engage Guemchi's ball.
Yet another drop by Effort in Guemchi's main. Guemchi attacks Effort's 5 o clock.
Effort's army cleans Guemchi's attacking force up.
|
At the risk of revealing my ignorance, anyone know who the white guy they keep showing is?
|
Guemchi desperately trying to secure that 7 o'clock expo, drives off a bunch of hydras with reavers and zealots
|
Guemchi has 1 DT going into Effort's bottom-right expo, takes out a few probes, but a Overlord sees it and a nearby sunk takes it out
Effort getting in position to attack Guemchi's main
YAHH GUEMCHI'S ARMY IS IN THE BOTTOM-LEFT OF THE MAP, EFFORT GOING RIGHT FOR GUEMCHI'S 3RD
|

EFFORT TAKES OUTHEAVILY DAMAGES THE 3RD

EFFORT MAKING A BUNCH OF LINGS GOING RIGHT FOR GUEM'S MAIN, BUT ARE TAKEN OUT PROMPTLY BY SOME ARCHONS, ZEALOTS, AND CANNONS
|
Effort's basically carving up Guemchi's expansion and main. He snipes a bunch of probes. Guemchi only has one high templar, and loses that too.
Guemchi looks to be finished as his economy is not running well and Effort is just streaming units.

Guemchi's shuttle sniped by Effort's hydras. Effort going up for Ultralisks. Effort launches yet another attack on Guemchi's 9 o clock. Effort destroys the nexus!

Effort is so sick with ZvZ mind games. He is so good at tricking his opponent into what he plans to do. I forget what game it was, but he had his opponent on the backfoot the entire time.
|

I think we could see an Effort all kill here. Is the team ranking from proleague continued over to this or does the rankings start fresh?

Zero needs to win this game, and a few more.
Then lose to sAviOr for max FPL points!

im always curious as to why people try and determine who will win in the ZvZ. when it comes down to it, its completely random and based on luck. doesnt matter who played good against who, whatever you want to think.
|
if it comes down to luck, then why is jaedong hovering around 80% win rate in ZvZ?

BO wins can have a huge effect though i.e Savior vs Zero in MSL

I think the same thing for the most part.
But I still wouldnt bet against Jaedong.

Effort v. Zero going to start soon. Both players getting ready.

i think efforts zvz is stronger than zeros, effort will prevail

Obviously some players are more consistent at it than others.

HOLY SHIT you just convinced me the entire game is based on luck. I mean every build order beats some other build order. You're a fucking genius

I think BO is the most important in ZvZ in Savior vs Zero i was saying to myself please Savior 9 pool and Zero 12 hatch. He did = gg. Thats not luck thats Zero taking the risky strat and getting punished.

Even though there is more luck involved than other matchups, it is anything but random. In a way you can say it is a mental battle: you must predict how your oponent will think, and then choose your strategy/transitions accordingly. Jaedong's record pretty much proves that there is more than just chance in determining the victor.
|
ZvZ isn't about luck, it's more about your opening build order and twitch reflexes.
|

I humbly disagree. I think that, sometimes luck will play a part, such as guessing correctly the perfect counter to a player you feel can beat you in micro/macro head to head. i.e. you can go mass lings and just hope that they scout in the wrong direction and try to go for early muta. I mean if you can tell you will be out played otherwise this might be your best shot.
I didn't see the Zero vs. Jaedong game so I can't tell what happened their.
But if luck is a dominating factor, then Jaedong must be a pretty lucky guy for getting an 80% win record overall.
|
lets go effort12 hat vs zero9 pool!!

No, you're taking it out of context. ZvZ alone is based on luck. The overall game, however, is not.

exactly
betting against effort or jaedong zvz is stupid in most cases
its like tiers:
jaedong _|_ Effort _|_ Savior Yarnc Lux _|_ others

It gives you the best chance of knowing their location. If they scout you from one location you know they are there, if they scout in the wrong direction you see the ovi with your own. If they are across then you find out first.

The strategy with scourge is to get at least 6 mutas escorting them. So when they snipe your scourge, you get your mutas to fire off one round on their mutas. Since their combined damage will be 118 (compared to the 110 of a scourge) you are dealing more damage in the end this way.
|
Seriously though try doing the math. If ZvZ is 50/50 or even 60/40 for Jaedong, it's almost impossible he ends up with 48-13
|
Zero also putting a hatch at his nat
Lings out for Zero
Lair upgrading for both players, Effort slightly earlier

The luck effect is more pronounced in ZvZ on 4 player maps. Already we see Effort with a 12 hatch vs. Zero's 12 pool, both expanding. Effort also has scouted correctly and Zero hasn't.
|
Lings out for Effort
Zero sending his lings to Effort's nat, but Effort hatching a lot more
|
EffOrt scouts the right direction.
Both players expanding now. ZerO tries to harass EffOrts expansion, but EffOrt has too many zerglings, ZerO backs off.
|
Zero being annoying with his lings, attacking his nat hatch from behind and taking out stray lings
|
Spire going up for both players, Effort's slightly earlier
|

Zero sending more lings to Effort's nat
Effort has a lot more lings than him, forming a line along his nat hatch and his ramp

Zero just being annoying with them, but not actually engaging his lings
Zero's lings running away, and EFFORT CHASING WITH ALL OF HIS LINGS WHOA
EFFORT'S LINGS ALL OUTSIDE OF ZERO'S NAT

Right.
ZvZ's are so tense. I don't know what it is about them, but I get so anxious watching them.

Ahahaha Realpenguin has the most enthusiastic LR's that for sure.
Mutas out for Effort. Sniping a few of Zero's lings.

MUTAS OUT FOR BOTH PLAYERS, ZERO ALREADY USING HIS TO DRIVE OFF THE REST OF EFFORT'S LINGS
Zero's mutas manage to snipe a stray overlord

It's because of the map. It's pretty good for Zerg, but also Rush Hour 3 follows up, so if IriS wins he will need to continue on RH3, which is a great map for Terrans.

Ok, if you are serious about this, then yes, Jaedong's stats do ruin your theory. I really don't see how you can reconcile that fact. Its like those astronomers that thought everything revolved around the Earth. The fact the Venus's orbit made no sense was just an exception to their theory.

Who is this red-haired noob? Iris has OSL medals, he shouldn't have to deal with this. Send GGplay out

Iris would be a fool to rush. Just get tanks defend his harass and abuse the map imbalance (which makes tanks UBER)

Reason, next map is Medusa so forget Terran but it is really balanced ZvP though. Savior did well against free last time they met on Medusa but he still lost so Movie is probably going to be the one not Much as they would not be confident in him against Free at present.

Free in green at the 11 oclock. Iris in white at the three.

because, as my compadre rushz0rz eloquently puts it:

Range upgrading for Free (1 gate at the moment)

Iris building a CC in his main to be lifted

Because the coaches are idiots?
Not to mention Iris is up 2-0 lifetime vs. free, though it might not mean much nowadays.

Free with another goon blocking his ramp.... or not Scouting SCV gets right in there, but doesn't see the Robo (?)

Iris moving out of his wall with 4 rines/1 vult/1 tank
Free goign back to Iris's nat with 3 goons, picking off all the marines
Support Bay finished for Free, and shuttle is out

I think that they just need to send out a good player at this Point, and free[gm] is better than GGPlay at the moment.

lol slow vulture manages to sneak into the main with one hit remaining only to get killed by a probe.
|
2 slow vults going along the middle of the map to Free's main
Free luckily had goons in the right position to take 1 of them out
Other one is at red health going into Free's main.... OH SNAP A PROBE TAKES IT OUT
|
HAHAHAHAH hero probe.
and i think its been stated that coaches usually send out players to certain maps based on who is doing the best on it in practice.
im sure you'd be a much better coach armed with TLPD.

OH MY GOD FUCKING SCARABS

Free's shuttle is loaded with a reaver, going for Iris's main
Iris sending out more vults around the bottom of the map
Free drops the reaver ON TOP OF A MINE AT IRIS'S NAT AHHHH, NO DAMAGE IS DONE
FREE DROPPING THE MAIN NOW, 1 ZEALOT/1 REAVER
NO DAMAGE AGAIN

im sure you'd be a much better coach armed with TLPD. Its possible TLPD is a detriment. It shows you how good players used to be as opposed to how they are preforming today. I mean Lux pwned the crap out of Jangbi the other day. TLDP would tell you to not send him out under any circumstance.

Wow I actually agree.
Yeah, I was going to say. Coaches get to see a lot more games and how they pan out on certain maps. It might be the case the Free excels at his game on RH3, in his PvT matchup. So over the few games we have seen, we might be wrong in terms of how a player will fare.
|
Citadel of Adun going up for Free
Free's shuttle still at large near Iris's main and nat
|
Free moving out with about a dozen goons and some obs, chasing down vultures and defusing mines
Free's third is up at 9 o'clock, not saturated yet

Iris's vults discover a pylon wall at the 3 o'clock ramp
Iris moving out quite early with tank/vult towards 3 o'clock
|
Observer spots the army movement and Free getting his zealot/goon in position
A few stray mines damaging Free's army
Free's army surrounding Iris's tank clump
|
right now free is thinking 'why the fuck did they send me out on this map :|'
|
Free trying to attack the push with his reaver, but mismicros and loses it
Free getting one good zealot bomb off, but the tank/vult is breaking into 9 o'clock
|
Reaver down.
And now shuttle as well.
|
The pylon wall is totally broken, tank/vult moving in to destroy it
Iris also pushing towards Free's nat, preventing Free from mining
FREE BRINGING BACK HIS ARMY AND ENGAGING
|
if iris wins this, then we'll see a ggplay vs iris rematch.
|
did he even lose the nexus at that expo?
|
FREE'S ARMY IS PUSHING BACK THE TANK/VULT PUSH
FREE TAKES OUT ALMOST ALL OF IRIS'S TANK/VULT, BUT IRIS ALREADY HAS A BUNCH OF REINFORCEMENTS HEADING ALONG THE TOP OF THE MAP
|
Iris's army moving towards the middle again
FREE MOVING IN WITH HIS ZEALOT/GOON, ENGAGING THE ARMY
FREE IS FORCED BACK WITH FEW LOSSES
IRIS CONTINUING TO PUSH ALONG THE LEFT-SIDE OF THE MAP
|
is it just me or free needs more zealots
|
free cleans up the attack
|
Iris with a small army at the top of the map, can easily attack Free's nat
FREE BREAKING THE PUSH AT 3 O'CLOCK WITH EASE
YAHHH BUT IRIS IS ATTACKING THE NAT NOW, FREE HASTILY BRINGING BACK HIS ARMY
|
Free has slow zelots. EDIT: they are now fast
|
YAHHH THE TANKS CLEAN UP FREE'S ARMY
FREE GGS

free plz dont lose, my fantasy team is going down the drain

reverse all kill is somewhat of an odd term..regardless of the position an all kill is an all kill the reverse part is somewhat superfluous.

did anyone else feel like free was playing better in that game, but the map imbalance was just suffocating? Seriously Iris was able to sustain huge losses and made one rather major mistake when he lost his whole army south of free's natural, but he was still able to get away with it. Whatever I'll take it.

Ok. A team can only send one player out for the entire length of the match right? So you can't have BeSt[WHITE] in the first match, and then again for the seventh, like you could in the original proleague, right?

It was terrible to send out their best player against a strong tvp'er on a heavily terran favored map, its kinda dumb no matter how you look it at. Even if ggplay loses free gets to play on a better map.

That and a funny thing called SUNKENS at your expos. Stop being so damn conscious of saving every last drone and SAVE A FEW MORE DRONES. Mass expo with sunken should make it so that the vultures just can't do as much as they possibly should (or are intended to do).

I think that puts them close to first, if not first right now.

oh wow Iris you baller.
sucks for my FPL though
|
CJ is sooooo deep that they should do really well in this format (3 viable tosses in Much, Movie and nbs, 4 viable zergs in Savior, Effort, Kwanro and Orion (sorta), and 5 terrans in Iris, Skyhigh, Xellos, Darkelf, and Idra ( )). Besides, the mere threat of Savior being in the same room as the opponents makes CJ autowin.
|
God CJ need to stop owning that bad so Savior can play ><
|
Haha so far in both games, CJ win the first game, lose the second, then win the next 3.

DarkElf isn't on the proleague roster, he can't play :p
They have memory back though (who beat pusan this week). AzAng is out of PL roster too.
So that leaves:
T: IriS, sKyHigh, Memory Z: SaviOr, KwanrO, EffOrt P: Much, Movie, Snow, NBS (not sure if hes in roster).
Then you have xellos going to ace, orion and other guys to fill. Devil might be in roster, would need to check.

This is saddening.
At least it was Iris doing the damage, though.

Hell yes
Iris is on my fantasy team

Besides, the mere threat of Savior being in the same room as the opponents makes CJ autowin. You are highly overrating some of those players. Like I mean HIGHLY overrating some of those players. As mentioned before Darkelf, Idra, Xellos, Orion, Kwanro and nbs aren't worth mentioning... I don't know why you even bothered bringing them up (Especially nbs who was never a big name nor a solid player. Same with Orion but at least you were hesitant with him.).
And I don't think they have the absolute superstar. Effort is almost there but not quite (he seems like he would drop random games and he did). Skyhigh was impressive in GOM but not really anywhere else.
|
the absolute superstar isnt nearly as important in this format when a team has depth. when you have 10 players who could be the third/fourth on a normal proleague lineup and you have them all train specifically for certain matchups/maps it becomes very easy to take out a superstar and then put in a solid player to clean up.

Oh wow, they put Snow on their roster? I hope we get to see him play this season, he's so young that I'm really curious to know how good he is. Maybe they can set him against Baby when they play WeMade. Just think, a proleague match in which the gamers' combined ages are the same as Boxer's.

i think darkelf would be good in the current format, he was used as a sniper before, and snipers are essential in the format
then again, maybe he sucks with no monty hall lol

they should have sent ggplay third THEN free.

Thoes pictures could practically define that last match between GGPlay and Iris.

=/ yeah really stupid by them. when i was watching it with irc the other night, carnac mentioned something about how rh3 isn't good for ggplay's late game style etc. but still, even if he lost, free on medusa vs iris is like a free win -_-
