It's hard being the leader and a champion for so long and coming to grips with the harsh reality of watching the magic slip away. Multiple losses to FBH when you wanted it so badly. Losses to Ruby and Kal, out of MSL Ro16 for the first time in two years. A team of players who look to you for leadership almost lost because of you tonight, and you know it. You take the stage now not with the anticipation of your victory or with the confidence in your ability, but with the fear that this one game might be the one that finally indicates that this is not just a slump, but a fall. Even when you win now, you can't smile. Instead, it's relief, the relief of knowing how closely you avoided completely breaking down. And so your career hangs on a razor's edge, and he could fall at any moment. My head and hands write this post as a eulogy, but the fan in me holds onto the hope. I feel the Last Romantic in me as I write this. Do not despair. Because of you, once again, your team lives to play another day, Ma Jae Yoon. So remember this moment, remember being a leader, and most of all... Remember who you really are. ![]() ![]()

It is not about the quality. No, it's more about the victory, the ONE victory that he BADLY needed. It's what that one victory meant. The loss of that one game would have meant so much more than the loss of any other game. This one game meant EVERYTHING, and he pulled through. Do I think he's back? No, that win does not mean that. The win gives us hope. There is still hope.

Out of a long-list of S-class players, the coach chose Savior. The fate of the team was riding on this game. Under a tremendous amount of pressure, Savior came through.

I think there's probably an explanation though, like maybe YarnC made 1 more drone or soemthing.

I think there are just two different points of view at work here. One is concerning the skill-level which the games of Savior against OGN showed. There was a very disappointing, boring, stretched-out PvZ against Chalrenge who did not play particularily well either. There are a short, poignant ZvZ against Yarnc which brought Cj the victory but did not display particular genius. It was just a win. So if you look at the games trying to find out if Savior has found his old strength, if he is dominating his opponents like he used to, the answer will definitely be no. Savior's gameplay did not get reinvented here. But look at it from a different perspective: 2007 was, in the end, a year of hardship for Savior. He was unpleasantly knocked off his throne, he was fighting to come back almost the whole year, after suffering some humiliating defeats. He had a reputation to uphold, as the Maestro, as Jesuszerg, as whatever. He failed at that. Now in the first important match in 2008, after being knocked out of the MSL, he loses one game against a mediocre Protoss, in the matchup he was previously thought to be unbeatable in. Then it comes to the Ace match. There are lots of other options, strong terrans eager to do the finisher, but his coach sends him out. Losing this particular game, while not being the official ace, precluding CJ from advancing towards the PL title, this result would have been humiliating. But it was different: When it really mattered, the Maestro won. This does not mean he has regained all his former calm and skills. But the symbolic value of this win, which might count in the future as a starting point of yet another phase of dominance, cannot be overstated.
