I wanted something for newer players to be able to participate and have a chance in initially because all they really have is CPL and the occasional D rank tournaments while higher ranked players have quite a few options as well as the weekly tournaments held on ICCup (and their nation league). Also the new mixed fights and fight club tournaments that are brand spanking new. When I say D/C ranked people, I just mean anyone under B-, and I'm being quite liberal with that. If someone is on the cusp of B- I don't mind. I'm more worried about players who are able to compete in mixed fights / fight club competing, since they could carry a team single-handed. What I'm trying to avoid is the situation where someone signs up like eonzerg and he names his team "Team eonzerg" and his teammates are two computers and he still wins the league going 3-2 every match. | ||

You'd be qualified to play. Rather than it being "if you ever hit B-" it is players who would currently rate their skill as an under "B" ranks player. As for Demurity, I looked at his iccup account and don't really know. 80% C+ is pretty solid, and I'd be under the assumption someone with those stats has the ability to be B-. But yah, there seems to be a gap between the skill I'm allowing in Rookie Tournament and the skill needed to play in tournaments like Mixed Fights, Fight Club, Nation Wars, etc. The sort of lull between B- and A-. I'd let someone in who struggles to get B-, as imo the only difference between C ranks and finally hitting the esteemed "B-" is volume for most people who are "C" level. That is why I say I'm being liberal with it. I dunno how high Demurity can go but I wouldn't be opposed to him entering with an offrace. I'm not doing ICCup checks for every random name that gets entered though, nor am I looking through replays, so hopefully people have an idea of what imo is the cutoff for the tournament and can enter based on their best judgment and be respectful about it. | ||

Also, something important to note is the votes are almost completely split between sunday and saturday so if you haven't voted for which day is better for you yet, please do. I will try my best to avoid this league overlapping with the Coach Pupil League, which is scheduled to start April 30th on a Sunday. I will release the official date / time Rookie Teamleague starts on the 18th (exactly a week before it starts) and the format of the league as well. Depending on how many more teams sign up, I might cap it too. | ||

Also thinking of changing Fighting Spirit to Crown and Sceptre. As I posted earlier, time, format, and also now map pool will be finalized this Friday. So in two more days, everything will be set in stone and updated on the wiki/OP so people don't have to keep guessing or struggle for info. And I can guarantee you that they would not reflect the same statistics in this day and age (ex: Luna). Maybe I'm overthinking it and approaching it wrong, but I'll definitely pick out maps that hopefully people enjoy, as that is an even bigger priority for me. And I will make sure that the map pool will not be too challenging or not enjoyable to play on certain maps with certain races. I do want to keep Destination because I know a lot of people enjoy that map. Blue Storm is definitely getting the cut because it seems to have mixed opinions and the pathing on that map can be frustrating for newer players. RoV was a map I wanted to keep that I loved playing on back in the day, but it seems like there are quite a few people who don't want it. It definitely is an old map and I can't say for sure if it is currently balanced. That said, I'm going to make the map pool great again. | ||

Tomorrow will update the OP and work on the wiki page with time, maps, format, and finalized rules. Around 8ish days until the league starts. We currently have 8 teams, plus enough single players to make a 9th and maybe even a 10th team. With this in mind, I'm going to cap the league to 12 teams. After there are 12 teams, I'll still take up registrations of other teams if they want to play in the case that one of the original teams drops out. | ||

Everything atm is final, so here are the patch notes.
I'm probably missing stuff but I'm mentally exhausted. Also everything is set in place so there really shouldn't be any excuses for people fucking up. Once all 12 teams are set in stone, every single match-up will be updated on the wiki for the next 3 months. Maps will be revealed at least 7 days in advance and download links will be updated in the OP every week. Players will be revealed on each 1v1 map at least 24 hours before matches are to be played so you literally will know who you're going against. This isn't the coach/pupil league, and I'm not going to spend a lot of time trying to enforce very strict rank restrictions. The goal of this league is not for player improvement, or winning prizes. It is just simply a way for people to get together and have fun. If you're a newer player, you can play in D Ranks Individual Tournaments that L_Master hosts, his Coach/Pupil Leauge he hosts as well, or even Airking's Small D Tournaments. If you're pretty solid (B-A) you have the luxury of the semi-frequent ICCup tournaments, Bisudagger's Fight Club, Mixed Fights, and a handful of other tournies you can join in. So then there comes the players who aren't eligible for the little tournaments, and who never stand a chance in the higher tournaments. What exactly do you do at that point? So in all good fun, this tournament is open to new players and players still in the process of improving alike. And I hope people who are able to compete in some of the more prestigious tournaments who have entered in this league are doing so legitimately with an offrace and understand at the end of the day, if you truly are a B-A player, you're only screwing over other players with nothing to gain. That said, I think a lot of these teams seem pretty close in skill and I'm excited to see how it goes. | ||

also white and chinkz, you're in standby atm. i'd show up for the first week tho cause if a team doesn't show up in the very first week, the chances of them showing up in any subsequent week is small to none i'll give you their spot. edit: also I know I said I'd enforce rulez and not change them anymore, but I think adding random players into teams at this point makes it REALLY hard for teams to PM me their A, B, and C players if they can't get together before then and talk about it. I don't think there will be any changes if I don't enforce the rule if teams can talk among themselves on match day and just figure out a way to set up the games. Also I don't really want to penalize a team for not doing it, cause it isn't a huge deal. And if only half the teams do it, I obv can't put up their rosters if the other team hasn't. So yah, its whatev br0. But PMing me the reps is still a thing, yah. | ||

Starting next week, I will be the official English caster for this Rookie Teamleague after several private discussions with SCC-Faust. Every week after matches are done, I plan on casting team matchups on my Twitch channel (and then uploaded to YouTube as VODs). Due to time and resources constraints, I'll most likely cast only 1-2 team matchups for time being and unveil the other match results during the weekly livestream. Currently the live casting broadcast tentative schedule is every Tuesday 4 PM - 7 PM US East Time Zone. I also reached out to several potential co-casters to commentate with me thru PMs. Some of them are potentially players in this league and it's possible that we may have guest appearances of familiar faces which will be exciting to see. Dedicated co-caster(s) has not been set yet but I expect guest co-casters for sure as the league progress. One big problem to address regarding casting for Rookie Teamleague: Team Melee matches. After discussing with Faust, there is currently no way to actually cast team melee maps without the replays being broken. We have not found any solution to successfully cast team melee sets but Faust insisted that team melee match will be included so at this point, either I cast a team match that decides the winner before the 5th team melee set or I cast set 1-4 of a team battle and just people know what the results are for team melee set. Another option is I consider team melee set as Set 1, 1v1s as Set 2-4, and 3v3 Hunters as final Set 5 in bo5 situations. So there's 3 options to consider while avoiding to cast team melee (since it's broken) and I'll let Faust or others discuss and decide before I start my cast what the casting format will be. Lastly a little about me. I used to do some minor English commentaries back in the old 2009-2011 Proleague days and did live real-time Korean voice-> English text translations off Korean commentaries in livestreams at nanashin and other channels. I've been aiming to properly restart my old amateur casting days recently (after several failed attempts) by doing commentaries of BW games of both English amateur leagues and low-interest/small Korean tourneys that don't have English voice commentaries (ie. HoSic Starleague). But as I followed TL and Korean SC BW scene since 2008 and have extensive knowledge of the competitive scene and games, I'm confident I can produce an exciting cast for many today. I'm also an active Twitch streamer who haven't played nor streamed BW for years as I moved on with other things. Aside for Tuesdays casting, I stream indie, strategy and other variety things so please understand BW-related stream will happen only once a week! It definitely is a good idea but unfortunately that limits it to a 2v2 with players locked into roles. And that sort of defeats the freedom and creativity teams can have on team melee mode in my opinion. There are a few things I really wish I did differently when I first made this topic with the format and how I handled everything, but I'm widely inexperienced and never expected it to be perfect for my first tournament. More of a test drive than anything, and if this goes well, I would love to host another afterwards with plans for it to be a lot more well run. And then I can take more things into consideration like streaming, etc from the get go. Problem with changing things atm is I feel like quite a few of the players signed up because of the fact that it isn't just 1v1s. People enjoy BGH & Team Melee and there is literally no tournament / league that lets you play them. Also, although I changed the 1v1 map pool, player count for teams, rules, and date of the league itself, the one constant has been having the BGH & Team Melee as it was the whole concept of the league when I planned it. Just generally an accessible tournament for players who aren't hella gosu who can work together. Also, it is less than a week until the league starts so I want to change as little as possible from now on. That and the fact that I'm not sure how many teams are actually going to show up and/or be prepared, so my primary focus atm is what to do in the situation where there will be a lot of no shows to prevent everything from falling apart. | ||

Also I was going to keep it a surprise about who might be potential co-casters but since FlaShFTW wanted to be heard, I shall give him no time to live his last remaining days as a private BW player citizen as he is a potential candidate co-caster with me! Oh and Qikz too. Maybe tri-caster setup. Can't play favorites in privacy matters. But since both of them are in the "same" team, we'll try to cast team matches that doesn't include theirs to have as much unbias commentary as possible. On the flip side, if their team matches end up being casted, I'll solo cast or have different co-caster where I'll most likely poke fun especially on FlaShFTW and Qikz when I cast their replays. | ||

I don't really want to remove team melee two days before the league starts. Also wasn't personally planning on anyone casting this tournament so I never really considered the troubles a team melee mode would cause for them. Also I did have a poll up for a long time if people even wanted team melee match, or a fmp match. I think the poll was like 17-5 in favor of team melee, and no one spoke out against it. I think it is a nice addition to the league personally. Think the only real solution is to move team melee to second or third match. However, since it is so close to the first week if people mess up and don't play it in the right order I'm not gonna hold it against them or anything. Also, it just seemed a lot easier in my mind for players to all play 3 1v1s alongside each other, then the 3v3, then the team melee. Quick, easy, done. This way someone has to sit and wait to play their 1v1 at the end. Not a huge deal tho. If it is a small sacrifice for convenience but makes casting a lot easier for people, then I think it is a good idea. Edit; I'm fucking retarded. Two no shows who were against each other (Don't Go In There & El Estarcraf). Replaced Don't Go In There with Whites & Chinks, and they get a walkover by default for the first week. Taking sign-ups to replace El Estarcraf as well so if another team wants to join the league, sign up, etcz. Also okay for teams to readjust their lineups and add/remove people if there are people who can't play in this league or disappeared without word. Not sure if league will still be casted or not, but in any case going to withhold results from first week for a few days. Edit: Not replacing el estarcraf, talked to the team members and they are making it for week 2. | ||

We will be casting (for time being) every Tuesday 4:30 PM EST to 7:30 PM EST. (plus/minus 30 minutes both ways) I was hoping TL staff/mod or whoever can submit this time table/event onto TL calendar schedule so anyone interested can watch the livestream broadcast. I will also upload the VODs on both Twitch VOD and YouTube VOD. So to have a more organized format, I propose to have an overall LR thread (if not weekly thread for each week results) just for the sake that resources and info can be maintained in one place without people trying to dig thru where so and so is and etc. By being properly organized will also make this tourney/league stand out among all other foreign and amateur leagues out there. But not doing all this is fine too, I'm not exactly pushing for it, just trying to say all this as a mere suggestion. | ||

I'm not going to play/review them in advance to not spoil myself before casting but I will make a note this to whoever each team sent these replays to Faust for future weeks. PLEASE NAME THESE REP FILES WITH SET # AND WHO'S VSING WHO. So it'll be harder for me to focus casting on such reps when I'm preparing overlays for each team and players on the livestream and I have no clue until game starts who's playing who or which set # this is. Luckily Faust offered to reorganize the rep names. Aside from that, prepare for some exciting cast on Tuesday at 4:30 PM EST! | ||

Since Fight Club changed its time even earlier again today (from 9 PM -> 5:30 PM -> 5 PM EST) to directly conflict with our time slot (4 PM EST - 7 PM EST), there's going to be two different events happening at same time with viewership competition and more people are going to flock over to TL Fight Club. As a streamer and caster, I don't feel confident in myself seeing this situation unfold since I hoped for Rookie Teamleague Commentary Live Stream to gain steam, interest and viewers watching but if I have to sit thru casting a livestream where no one is there, I don't think I have the personal interest to push forward. Not to mention I already lost a potential co-caster because of this. Unfortunately my casting ability has already been affected by this. I'll let everyone know what the final update is. So if I end up casting this all by myself, solo-cast despite everything seemed all cool 2 days ago before this all fell apart, so be it. Also I understand what people are saying about all this and at the end of the day, I shouldn't allow external factors affect what should be done. Up until 2 days ago, I was all hyped up for getting back to casting SC BW again and getting involved in TL community again since 2015 when I used to translate stuff from Korean to English on Sonic Starleague at snipealot channels and LR threads. It's not even about the # of viewers I have or don't have, it's just that everything looked fine with preparations until all of a sudden, things seem to fall apart. Didn't want to cause drama so I do apologize everyone about all this but I was mentally drained past day or so. In my view, Rookie Teamleague is a part of TL/BW community that's directly part of them for all the people participating and those interested in amateur BW leagues, and I wanted to be part of it with my own way by casting. Anyway, live casting for week 1 at 4 PM EST! VODs on YouTube at most a day after! Stay tune! | ||

Also I thought of a cool idea for next cast that involves people watching live on Twitch! What if we cast 1-2 team matches as usual but also have a strawpoll for 1 bonus game to cast (only a single set of any team game that week that hasn't been casted) so that there's potentially another 3v3 BGH cast we can do or a featured 1v1 match that viewers really want to see. The strawpoll will go on from start of broadcast till near the end, so around 1.5-2 hour poll. Then after our original scheduled cast, we finish off the night with this bonus single game set cast based on viewers choice? Feel free to give any suggestions, ideas, thoughts and comments of our cast! (YouTube VODs should be up tomorrow or Friday!) | ||

But yah, if enough people dislike team melee, I don't have any problems switching it to something more preferable. If people disagree with me and really feel like there is not a large difference between micro/macro UMS and team melee, I will switch it for week 3. Atm though I don't really want to change it without a lot of negative feedback because I feel like it is something that tournaments never include and it is a unique, fun, and underused mode that players don't get to experience or play on enough. | ||

I understand that time is limited but I was a little upset that you don't cast all 5 games; we play them even if we are down 0-4. I think this should be reflected in team statistics as well but I haven't checked to verify yet. | ||

Everyone organizing, casting or even players themselves are basically volunteers to this league. I try to at least announce the results of each matchup in the cast and with further weeks in, we can provide more statistics like where each team stand, strengths/weakness against so and so team and stuff when we have more info. Once again, last week was Week 1 and tomorrow is Week 2, there's literally less materials to talk about early into leagues than later. Faust also doesn't watch all the reps, he just checks the result on who wins and who loses to verify that what teams said matches what rep says. He then relay that info about just the results to me. Watching all those 6 matches * 5 sets = 30 games reps per week is madness. Edit: No Straw Poll, checked the times and do not believe we will have time to squeeze out another match besides our scheduled 2 team matches. | ||

So the shared bases map would be suboptimal, haha. However, I am greatly intrigued by the beehive map that you posted. That seems like it would create some really interesting situations that are somewhat explored in maps like Arkanoid and Fortress, but taken to the next level. Floating buildings, fast air, greedy multi-expands... Seems very interesting. Thanks for the share! | ||

This week the two first place teams Whites and Chinks meet the Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance. Also fun fact: as opposed to last week where every match was 5-0 with the exception of one, this week only had one match have 5-0, and it was due to walkovers in Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance vs El Estarcraf. This previous week also had two extremely close matches that went 3-2 to the BGH games in TTZPP vs Momo, and Dog Manner vs Secret Forum Illuminati. The BGH game in TTZPP vs Momo had pretty much a 1v3 comeback where TTZPP lost two players early on and they floated/rebuilt behind their teammate to secure his natural and the 11 o clock main. They ended up winning. Lumire and evileye also played a 36 minute ZvP on Longinus where the map was mined out with the exception of the mineral-only bases. The game had a lot of aggression from Lumire while evileye struggled to stay on his feet. After drowning out the Zerg and managing to hold his ground, evileye became victorious. Also, not counting for randoms, the three best BGH teams (who have gone 2-0 so far) all have a different favored race. PewPew is 2-0 in BGH with using Protoss 66.67% of the time. TTZPP is 2-0 in BGH with using Terran 60% of the time. Dog Manner is 2-0 in BGH with using Zerg 50% of the time. Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance is 2-0 in BGH (although their second win was from walkover). They used 1 Z / 1 P / 1 T in their first match. | ||

Also, not counting for randoms, the three best BGH teams (who have gone 2-0 so far) all have a different favored race. PewPew is 2-0 in BGH with using Protoss 66.67% of the time. TTZPP is 2-0 in BGH with using Terran 60% of the time. Dog Manner is 2-0 in BGH with using Zerg 50% of the time. Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance is 2-0 in BGH (although their second win was from walkover). They used 1 Z / 1 P / 1 T in their first match. PewPew vs AoV in BGH was surgical. | ||

Also, a huge winter storm is gonna hit eastern Pennsylvania tonight into tomorrow night and I live in a location where it is common to lose power even at average snowfall for days at a time so it is likely I will be unreachable for a few days if the situation occurs. Tomorrow's Rookie Teamleague Week 3 Cast is cancelled and postponed to a later date due to heavy Blizzard hitting here in NYC. This affects my casting due to entire family being home which means I can't talk and noise level within the household, plus I will have to do some heavy shoveling myself. The forecast said up to 17 inches of snow in NYC. I'll upload week 2 cast VODs on YouTube sometime tonight or tomorrow at the very latest. Been busy preparing for new full-time job at major corporation which starts in matter of days. Another option would be that you guys could form your own team and replace El Estarcraf if they do not show for next week (making it the third week they don't show). I know it would suck starting out 0-4 though, but just to let you guys know that option is on the table. It would be even better if El Estarcraf picks you guys up, but I'm not too sure if any of their roster plans to actually come. Also yeah, I'll add splax to HWA roster before the matches tomorrow. I've watched literally every single replay that was given to me so far in this tournament and I can personally say I'm happy with the skill and competition I've let into the league. I know some people are apprehensive about strong players offracing, but I think it is actually working well. You and Yeti have both stuck to your worst race and I think anyone who has watched the replays would agree that your skill level may rival other top teams but does not in any way surpass the skill restriction of the tournament. At the end of the day, I just want everyone to have fun though and almost every decision I've made for this league was solely for that reason. I'm not quite sure why I wrote this long of a reply, but I think it is really important players understand this is not a D rank tournament and everyone who is playing in this tournament deserves to. | ||

With this all said, I highly encourage teams to organize their rosters for week 5. We are very close to the halfway point of the league. If you have players that are not showing up, do not hesitate to add other players. Please get in contact with your leaders, and if they are unresponsive, take initiative to add players to your roster yourself. Also a special thanks to all the players who have showed up and played all their games, even if they already lost for the week. You will have a higher chance of winning prizes. The categories will definitely surprise a lot of people I believe, and I just want to say that truly anyone is eligible for them. They will not be only for the best players. | ||

Anyways, this seems to come up every week so I'm sorry to everyone for the way I handled the league and if you feel that I have misrepresented the players who could join. This is going to be the last time I talk about the issue in this thread though because it really disappoints me that the other aspects of the league get a bit overshadowed by something that could have been fixed by very simple measures if I just had the foresight and more careful wording when organizing. On another and more happy note, I hope tomorrow has a good turn out and everyone has fun. | ||

It's mad frustrating not having time to practice for the better part of 4 months, getting whooped a week straight on ladder, meanwhile losing to students you're meant to be coaching and then getting rekt by players above your level every week lol. That weekend was particularly heavy in losses, don't think I won a single game. In my defense, lumix is a friend so I was more vocal and i really didnt expect to see our series cast. I think my opponents in the other games so far will testify that I am gm and don't whine during the games I play with them. Thanks for the cast! I've got some super cool friends that have reached B-, like FearTheQueen, DannyMicro, Herbmon, rlentless, munkie, Jemah, and more, that I passed up because I was under the impression that they were not eligible. Lesson learned though: I will try to stack my team HARD if I do another team league. Right now, though, I'm in too much of a "Let's just have fun and see where things go" mood to really stay mad for longer than 10 minutes about this, though. But, before I end with that, I think a perfectly valid "counter-argument" (if you want to call it that) is to ask me, "Aren't you winning so far?" and yes, that is true, but it's also because of the very simple fact that we work really well together (I wish you could see our team melee games so far, they've been awesome) and that the other teams basically were in the same boat as me in regards to their understanding of the rules for eligibility. So the players we've faced have been more or less very close to our level, and we've had some close calls, and a bit of luck. Also, hats off to all the teams we've faced so far. Our team has had our moments where we've facepalmed at our fails, but overall, we're just having good, clean, family-fun and keepin' it G-rated. Also I have stayed consistent throughout the league with how I give teams players. Players who sign up without a team are distributed to teams who have poor attendance. You asked for evilEye, and I gave evilEye to Shieldbattery. Even with him on that team, they have still given walkovers in matches during week 2 & 4 despite him always showing up. At most they have 3 members show up. If a player specifically requests a team, I put them on that team. Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance asked me for Sero first, and then I ended up putting Sero on PewPew despite them having the same number of players at the time because Sero specifically asked me to be put on PewPew. idegelchik asked specifically to be put on Nina's team and I am not sure if he would be interested in playing if he was on any other team. I am trying my best to accommodate teams who are having issues getting a full roster to show up by distributing late sign-ups as best I can (ArchdukeZeph was put on SB and bestduck was put on Mac&Cheese today - without them their match-ups would have had a walkover) but I do not want to force players on teams they do not want to play on. | ||

Then you play some weird map pool that has old and imbalanced (BUT VERY FUN) maps like Azalea and Desperado. Finally you pinch the loaf by getting down and dirty with an old classic BGH. Unlimited minerals and gas at your fingertips. If you still want to be at each other's throats for a league like that, then I have good news for you. If they are a key player in their team melee, BGH, and 1v1, this could make the figure rise up all the way to over 50%. This way, players from the top teams are almost guaranteed to be distributed to different teams in season 2 because of how highly they are valued. I was actually super stoked about this idea because it seems super cool in theory but I feel like it won't work in practice. Part of the reason why I feel like we've had such good results with people showing up is because most people in this league get to play with their friends. Yesterday we had every team show up with no walkovers (to my knowledge). I think people have a lot more fun when they have people they can discord/skype with and practice with regularly. I just know personally if I was in that situation, I would be way less likely to show up to a league that I'm distributed to a random team with people I'm not familiar with. | ||

Anyone crying about flying being added to the roster needs to seriously re-assess all of the players that are currently in the league and tell me that flying shouldn't be allowed. Back to Faust, I think that the points idea is really interesting but as you accurately stated, in a for-fun league as this one, teams are not going to function well if they are created due to some numerology and drafting process, I think. Back in DRTL, I remember a lot of people being of the mentality that "if I wasn't playing on this team with X, Y, and Z player, I wouldn't play at all." Balancing teams by points would make the most sense in a professional-level teamleague where people will be paid salaries and bonuses respective to their performance. It unfortunately is not viable for Rookie League. If there is one thing I've learned for this tournament, it is that sometimes in life you show up, prepare, get hype, and then get have your corpse tossed off a bridge in some hood after you're riddled with the opposing gang's bullets. That's just how life is. BW is life. That's just how BW is. Sometimes you show up just to get bodied. If you're not okay with that, then you're playing the wrong game. You can whine (I do) about how hard everything is, but that will never change the fact that you are a rookie beat by another better rookie and you need to take a breath of fresh air, a sip of water, and put ointment on your gaming ego's butthole. EDIT: Hi xccam! I wish we could play letters again. So badly. Our game still ranks in my top 10 favorite games in that field, ever. | ||

I talked to Nina and I am currently taking off art_of_turtle and happybunnytime from their roster image as they are currently inactive for RTL. The players are still on HWA but I just want to better format the roster image and I think it is a good idea to keep the player roster up to date with people who actually plan to show up for each team for less confusion. Players available Also I am in need of someone who can sort of "admin" the tournament on Sundays starting week 7 possibly. I may be starting a new job that requires me to work some weekends and I would really like it if someone can just sort of make things run smoother if I can't show up. There is no real moderating that needs to be done, but here is the things I usually do:
That is really all there is to it. Like I said, I might not even be unavailable depending on my job situation and the schedule I have. But I want to be prepared if I'm going to not be able to make it to my own league and have someone smooth the edges. Edit: Also someone asked me if the players who are offracing in this league can play their main race if against another player offracing. If both players agree to this, see literally no reason why they can't. This applies to Ty2/aiwekas/flying/sero/babo/Radley/yeti. | ||

Although there are some stacked teams that are undefeated and some teams that don't take BW as seriously as some people do, I would like to think that this is still a for fun tournament for ROOKIES. As long as people are enjoying themselves, I don't think the skill difference is really an issue. Our team came with an expectation to get stomped every match, but we managed to pull some close matches against similar skilled teams, and obviously got 0-5 against stronger teams. Overall, we are still having fun and are enjoying ourselves in team melee and bgh, which are nice additions to this league. | ||

Unfortunate is my departure from something I worked quite hard on, but there is nothing more I want than to see RTL conclude at week 12 with everyone looking back and feeling like time was well spent being in this league. I have never understood the pressure and work this commitment took until I put myself into the position head first. I spend several hours every week watching replays, updating the wiki, and talking to players. I realize that every decision I make has close to 50 eyes watching me. From the players I let in, to the map pool, to more difficult situations like disconnects. And no matter what I do, I cannot please everyone. Going forward, I have selected someone whom I think can admin this tournament better than anyone on Teamliquid. They do not have a lot of experience under their belt but they possess very strong qualities that I think qualifies them. This person is a hard worker, sympathetic and understanding, level-headed, and works well under pressure. It is with great reassurance that I say this league is in the best hands. Their word will be final and I hope any changes they make to this league will be welcomed with open arms. Thank you everyone for your time and participation. So to answer questions boldly, no Sziky is not going to play in the league itself. I was admittedly extremely under the influence when I talked to LuMiX and added him on the roster and found it beyond hilarious. We are around 24 hours in the future from that historic moment and I am still under many influences. One of these influences is the influence of deep regret from causing many people a heart attack, for which I cannot apologize enough. I'll stop trolling my own thread now but it is kind of hard to resist when most of the discussion has been about rank and skill entry which hasn't changed within the first day the tournament started and hasn't changed with any entry since then. So I wanted to see peoples reactions when I actually added a gosu player to a roster. But I am serious about a $25 showmatch. I would be super happy to see Sziky play again and think a casted showmatch between the best players in Rookie League going against one of the best foreign players would be entertaining. | ||

It has given me real extra motivation to practice, because I have a chance of representing my team well and helping us to win some matches. A large element of the fun is eroded if the skill level is too high. I believe this kind of league is actually a great thing for foreign BW, and I don't want to see its success eroded by drifting too far from its actual core appeal: a place where players B- and below can feel competitive, and enjoy a tight-fought clan battle each week. We're playing on 1.16.1 boys. I put a guide in the OP. I'm so disappointed in myself for even suggesting that we switch to 1.18. I hope I didn't misguide anyone. I logged in and made sure team melee worked and hosting worked and figured we were good to go. Now after watching streams and talking to people it seems there are some very important issues that make hosting tournaments on 1.18 fucking retarded. Some are QoL changes, and some are a lot more troubling.
So yeah, fuck 1.18. This is me and another player who both picked Zerg in team melee, and it gave us two SCVs. Team melee completely fucked up on 1.18. The coolest and most played game mode ever. I hope Blizzard didn't fuck up Slaughter, Capture the Flag, and Greed either. Also the opportunity to regularly play team melee has been a blast, this tournament has been great for that - maybe 1.8 might one day even fix replays. | ||

Not that I'm a "huge fan" of the 1.18 myself, but I've already replaced my StarCraft with the one that our corporate overlords want us to play. Also, I've kind've gotten used to the mouse speed on 1.18, so when I go on iccup, it's hard to control. I'm not making an argument to play in one place or another, I'm just saying that's my current situation. Also not happy with team melee on 1.18. | ||

I'm sure that Filthy BW may also attract some of the stronger players on other teams as well. However, if 1pm EDT does not work for you and your team can make it at 3pm EDT (with no obligations to CPL or FilthyBW) just post here. This mostly pertains to the following match-ups as they all have 1 or less player in CPL: Whites and Chinks vs PewPew and Holy Wheelbarrow Alliance vs Momo So if 3pm EDT is preferred or fine for these teams, please post here. The other matches will most likely have to remain at 1pm EDT unless otherwise stated. Please just message me if you cannot make it. it takes literally a few minutes and I will reach out to your opponent's and set up a time that is agreeable for both parties. | ||

Also I like CPL and FilthyBW a lot (I'm participating in CPL myself as a coach) and I want to let players participate in as many things as they can. This way everyone can be accommodated for and all it takes is a minute or two to post here or message me to rearrange a time if the new one doesn't suit you. I'm sorry though for the confusion and flakiness of the tournament. I know it wasn't well organized from the start but yah, this is the first tournament I've ever run and it is an ongoing learning experience. I am trying my best | ||

Last week our opponent didn't show up and no agreement was made to use the original time then either, but they hadn't been showing up for a while because they got bopped even harder than most of the D+ to C+ rookies in the league. Edit: I also want to say that I never gave Nina the replays for week 9, 10, and 11. There were a lot of walkovers in the last three weeks (somehow half the teams managed to show on week 11, all against the other half who didn't show, so not a single match was played on week 11.) I still went through week 9 and 10 replays for this prize cast, but I don't know about having them cast as they are all short and not very noteworthy. After this prize cast I will update the wiki and standings and I will edit the OP to have the final standings. It has been a surprising amount of work doing all this so I'm kind of excited to get this prize cast over with and be done with RTL for now. I enjoyed hosting the league a lot tho. Send me noods. | ||

Don't promise something you can't deliver! 2. I will be watching the stream and look forward to it.
