@Faust: Love your most recent post. Shows a great awareness of the league. You're really too hard on yourself.
Anyone crying about flying being added to the roster needs to seriously re-assess all of the players that are currently in the league and tell me that flying shouldn't be allowed.
Back to Faust, I think that the points idea is really interesting but as you accurately stated, in a for-fun league as this one, teams are not going to function well if they are created due to some numerology and drafting process, I think. Back in DRTL, I remember a lot of people being of the mentality that "if I wasn't playing on this team with X, Y, and Z player, I wouldn't play at all." Balancing teams by points would make the most sense in a professional-level teamleague where people will be paid salaries and bonuses respective to their performance. It unfortunately is not viable for Rookie League.
If there is one thing I've learned for this tournament, it is that sometimes in life you show up, prepare, get hype, and then get have your corpse tossed off a bridge in some hood after you're riddled with the opposing gang's bullets. That's just how life is. BW is life. That's just how BW is. Sometimes you show up just to get bodied. If you're not okay with that, then you're playing the wrong game. You can whine (I do) about how hard everything is, but that will never change the fact that you are a rookie beat by another better rookie and you need to take a breath of fresh air, a sip of water, and put ointment on your gaming ego's butthole.
EDIT: Hi xccam! I wish we could play letters again. So badly. Our game still ranks in my top 10 favorite games in that field, ever.

I don't really remember our game, but if my post from 2014 is to be believed it was a 1 hour 40 game so must have been really something.

Back on topic, I think there's no real problem with people like flying joining. The main issue people have is that when people think "rookie teamleague" they don't think of green ranks, and not really even blue ranks. If it was to be run again I'd drop the name rookie.

I didn't mean to cause problems by joining, just wanted to help a team that sounded like they were going to be short players in upcoming weeks. As for "you allowing A- now?" directed at Faust...that's why offrace right? There are other players here who hit A- main race too...Sero, Idegel... I guess yeah, legit offrace would be Terran, I hit b- before with Protoss. But definitely not at that level now and that's up to Faust.

I'm pretty sure you won actually  It was the season before that 296-3 record I had in season 2 (not tryna brag but you did kinda put it out there). I remember you posted in the YourLetters blog on TL about our game together, which probably helps it stand out in my memory.
Onto the topic at hand, I personally 100% empathize with what you're saying, but the fact is that "rookie" envelops all of us. In fact I've made money off of Brood War in the past, but even then I'm more "rookie" than "pro."

Basically, plus Flying is only in it for the money of course, can't make money playing your main race on bet games.

Zerg is the easiest race to rank up with. I got to C- with over 50% winrate in 1 weekend by rushing with Drones. Don't be blinded by your racism.
