God I hate arkanoid and hitchhiker, I'm not indifferent to them like I am to other stupid maps like sin pioneer, etc. Arkanoid is just stupidity, I don't enjoy watching players destroy neutral buildings for the first 10 minutes of the game. I don't enjoy not knowing what's going on at all because players can only do little guerilla drops and the observer sucks at following what's going on. It's impossible to know who's ahead who's behind. There can't be any big scale battles. I thought the first peaks was the pinnacle of terrible maps but arkanoid surprises me everytime I look at it.

Why are there neutral buildings period? Since when do the mapmakers think they know enough to dictate the timing and build orders of games? Did they even have a purpose in mind when they decided to put 4 larvas for no reason at all at the nats of arkanoid? Neutral buildings limit build orders so much so that I'm pretty sure the mapmakers just want to make it difficult for progamers to play normally and force them to think of other ways to play, except that those other ways are way less entertaining to watch.

Very well done from both players. Sloppy moments from both [Stork losing all reavers at top left to 20 hydras, 815 losing all dev/guard to storms at top left] but generally a good game. Hope 815 takes the next two. He's quite a good player.

Free simply didn't expand early enough, which stork made sure to do properly. It was only when free ran out of resources that he had to tap out. Besides, Yarnc is probably ZvT > ZvZ > ZvP, similar to jaedong ~_~ what's up with these two new powerzergs being subpar at zvp

However, a few reasons why I'm supporting 815 in this one: He's KTF He's avenging Mantoss [main reason] There are other Protosses I prefer There are so few Zergs, as well as few protosses. These maps have been killing both. 815's ZvP is not bland like Silver's.

You make good points. However, I don't see it as avenging Reach. I see continuing on and kicking ass in the OSL and Stork making use of beating my idol. Letting some Zerg punk walk over him is like a double wammy. Reach AND Stork out. I couldn't bare that. And yes, the Terrans have been kicking Ps and Zs asses due to these shit maps. But what can I say, I'm unable to feel empathy for Zergs.

Terran's power is that one can hardly imagine T-killing map unlike there are a lot of Z-killing and P-killing maps. PvT is balanced at a normal map. But this balance can be easily shifted to T advantage by adding some crappy cliff or neutral building and btw how many maps do you know where P > T.

Maybe. It's strange that a pro is eliminated in that situation without a hidden building. You could see that stork prepared a pylon at the lower left hand expo. I was surprised that there wasn't an extractor somewhere too.

These games are probably going to be really tight. A lot of these small time terrans have been tearing up the prelims and duel/survivor on these maps. Shark will probably have his hands full with this kid if his peers are any indication. I went with the Terran. Fingers crossed, but I wouldn't mind seeing Shark get through, though I still have a grudge against him for all the Protoss players he beats in Proleague all the time.

I have zero faith in shark after the shitty hive tech control and game sense he showed vs xellos. His unit control is quite good, but his management needs a lot of work.

mnm army goes into the min only area of shark, but that's exactly where shark's ling muta lurkers all were at. irrad on muta, shark doesnt really move it away, vessle scourged by 1 hit, survives. mnm all die, and shark keeps moving forward and counters into the min only. tanks and d-matrix fend off this counter though, remaining lurkers retreat. defiler mound for shark is done, cc starting at 12 expo

lurker ling in the middle of map, scanned by freedom as they are moving. freedom setting up his ball at the north ramp, as he moves southward in the middle, 2/3 of his vessles get scourged. lurker ling moves forward into the setup, with swarm as well. tanks unsieging and moving back, 2 vessles atm.

swarmlinglurk kills terran's army on the center plateau. However, shark's defiler/lurker control was slightly sub par, and he lost more than he should have.

freedom now sets up at the very northern part of the middle triangle, zerg moving up into it again with doubel swarm, it seems like freedom isnt losing "that" much to these attacks, zerg's unit count is getting lower. the infantry move into the min only, where they meet cracks. skirmish, and as lurkers come to support, mnm hit and run, eventually dying off.

Terran army kills bottom left expo of Z, despite lurkling coming in. Freedom's got a slight edge, judging by unit count and expo count. I don't see how Shark has lost his lead, though - he's won basically every single battle.

Lings find Freedom's 1:00 base, zerg has guards. I definitely did NOT see that tech. marines take down the hatch at 7/8 oclock, and dark swarm provides cover for lurk ling, obviously just a bit late.

Fight just right of centre at Terran's expo. Mainly consists of Swarm + lurk vs. mm. Terran adequately defends it, and finds the hatch at 7:00 with a handful of marines, but ULTRALISKS COME OUT from elsewhere to kill off the marines.

good play from Shark all around. Freedom good macro, bad game decisions - did not translate his huge armies into offensive capabilities. Moved out with like 1/2 of his army, no tanks support, and lost small pieces at a time.

Good analysis, I agree. He let shark poach tanks by doubling back on him and such. Didn't seem to have a good gauge of his opponent's force or army position like most good terrans do.

'course not. Don't think that I did in any way whatsoever I love you Haji. Oh yeah, so I fixed a couple of my earlier posts, too. But it seems most what I say on Arkanoid has map positions, simply because IT ALL LOOKS THE SAME and I have to check the minimap anyway.

yea arkanoid is REALLY hard to report. It's like you say 12 nat, and you have no idea which one it is... so i tend to use east/west/north/south, and it still must get confusing.... so shark's first OL goes wrong way to 5, and he's doing the tricky OL direction maneuver into the island. Freedom 14 cc at south nat, and shark goes 12 hatch pool, hatch at south nat. freedom passes a scv through the middle temples, and starts attackign the terran neutral. getting 2 raxes

an SCV glitches through the temples, presumably to scout. Maybe to proxy. He starts working on a neutral temple. Will take awhile to kill 2 raxes going up.

Nice little SCV jump using the depot he was building. Not sure what the purpose of that SCV is though. Scouting for a one base lurker build maybe, but that wouldn't make sense since it's attacking the neut building. Maybe freedom has something planned for us.

fist vessle out, lurkers are dropped in... the reinforcement path of terran i think? oo those lurkers tried to flank from behind but were killed swiftly by the infantry. 1 lurk in the reinfocrement path still, killed by mnm tank w/o many loses. shark comes out fom the west temles with lurker ling, but freedom responds nicely by retreating... shark comes in a second time, kills some infantry but again has to retreat when he starts taking heavy lurker losses

Do I see this right? rines attack all the temples... er... northeast of centre. he is flanked on both sides by lings, but kills them off. lurkers retreat in the NE direction, T attempts to push a bit further with mm + tank. lurkers force him to at least back off for now.

just when freedom tries to move up, shark moves in as well with lurke rling swarm, freedom forced to move back, cracks kill a bunch of men. Freedom now forcing his way past the lurker and swarm, come into the west nat, but mroe swarm forcing him to reconsider this offensive.

This map is so confusing. I can never tell for sure who's winning, since there are little skirmishes all over and very few set piece battles.

It's ok Haji, Shark just played very good. He's constantly improving ya know. Plus, while Shark isn't A or S Class, he is definately a great Z user and a very good benchmark test for many players. I personally like Sharky a lot. It's so hard waiting for Kingdom and GoRush

wall is going up for forgg, zealot arrives at the wall, but cant really do much. nice scv block for the rines agianst the zeal. 1st fact shoudl be almost done. 1st goon chasing the scv scout around, goon goes dumb and loses target of scv --;; scv saw nothing at the min only area. looks like the zeal was killed by rines.

fact addon is done, and forgg is getting hsi nat cc above the cliff. 1 goon chillin at the 5 o oclcok nat area, 2nd one comes, and attacking rines on ramp. but tank comes, so they back off

kindgom with 2 starport carrier off of 2 base. he has 7 goons in the middle path, 2/3 of the way down. vults getting double upgrades. forgg sieges above cliff on the left side, with turret and 2 vults tehre as well, and goons are forced to move back further. first scans for forgg.

mm, forgg's fpview reveals that he doesnt see the stargates. forgg is slowpushing up the middle with tank vult turret. kingdom flanking from the right cliff, as well as dropping zeals and attacking from the front with goons as well.

forgg has now reached kingdom's nat area, mines are planted but they dont go off on any goons. all vults die, kingdom building turrets and sieging. kinddom escapes nat probes, getting his min only. kingdom shows his frist two carriers. forgg unsieges and ... moves into nat? nat dies, tanks seiges in teh nat area, and vults run up to give vision. err forgg still adding tanks and vults, no golis yet. armory done now, and we see facts flashing with range upgrade goign for goli

vults are loaded, dropship heading to the west expo of kingdom now, kindgom going 2 starport. forgg heading to the main of kingdom, intervepted by goons but nothing dies so far, goons being microed, 1 goon dies, i think some probes might have died with the mine explosion. corsair i think killed the dropship. 2 more goons die to mines.

forgg shuttling tank goliath into the bottom island in kingdom's base, sairs repelled by goli, tanks are in, and shuttled in goons die to said tanks. web on goli, really of no use. 1 tank 2 goli outsid ethe island attacking the south nat.
Goon dweb is such a bad build on this map. Kingdom about to get stomped.

hmm rax still flashing... 7th rine? 6th? well 6 so far, 4 goons being danced, 3 rines die. vult mines, first one killed by goon minesweep, 2nd one goes off ona goon and goon dies. 3 goons try some more minesweep but cant set any off w/o getting hit by tanks. rax lifts off, tanks siege behind the earth wall on this mpa, and cc builds inside main. kingdom alreayd has nat done, robotics up, observatory warping, and 2 more gates going.

hmm intersting play by pure here. He goes 8 pylon at nat, then pylons his probe in at gorush's nat to make gorush thing he is going a cannon rush, to draw drones out. He then proceeds to nexus before forge, then builds a gate at nat, 2nd pylon in main, and now a forge at the nat. gorush's OL now sees this. pool done for gorush. 3rd hatch at middle expo for gorush

Aah I just realised it's not that bad. Jangbi lost, but he's in next MSL, Anytime won (good to see him win something these days ) and Up lost against Shine but not out yet.
Jangbi lost quite misserably, can't say I'm looking forward to see his games in the future. Shine on the other hand... 'holy crap' just about does it :-) amazing.

2 guys qualify, if you get both right -> 2pts if you get 1 right -> 1pt if you get 0 right -> 0pt No order
It's 4 players for 2 points, one per advancing player. The order doesn't matter. If you picked Shine and Gorush, you got 2 points. If you picked Shine and Up, you got 1 point.

I thought they expanded MSL to 32 (?) playes and therefor this round acted as the OGN dual tournament, sending two people to MSL every time?
32 players:
4 seed (Savior, Bisu, Ra, Bifrost)
28 quilified = 14 groups in survivor...

How does the ODT work out ?

He's right. Shine and GoRush are in MSL now. ODT works like so: 48 players matched off in bo3. Winner advances, loser drops out. Then the remaining 24 are split into 6 groups of 4. They play Survivor League style, 2 winners of each group go to OSL [12 total] to join the four seeds. Other 12 drop out. I think they still keep a berth in the next ODT though.

this is my review of the first match between anytime and jangbi. -anytime vs jangbi(first match): anytime play in the first match i have seen that before. a match of anytime vs zergman comes to my mind. in the first match you get to see anytime level of experience and understanding of the game. that he achieved with effort and striveness for being the best. -match review: anytime simply caught jangbi unprepared. great timing by anytime. i think jangbi loss because he wasnt prepared for it and also the photon cannons didnt do as well as expected. -both did their best: yes indeed it was a short and neat match. it was about timing. the photon cannons could have saved jangbi. but then anytime timing was better. jangbi played really well and showed a good macro but he wasnt able to use it or in any case finish his strategy. great match to watch i enjoyed it a lot.
