If Midas beats Saviour that will be the best thing that has happened to Starcraft since replays came out.

I hope savior craps on midas, I hate emo terran with a passion.

I got a weak spot for july but Casy is someone who I really really like to advance and take this starleague, maybe even more so then savior.

Cba with the other matches tbh

I wouldn't be too pissed if Savior lost, but I would be VERY pissed if Nada wins. He's been winning a lot and now it's time for another player to take over. His style is just so standart and boring to watch (well, to me). Even his hair is starting to piss me off.

Midas plays standard, but he's pretty damn good. Savior ftw though.

Hoping for Nada to beat this little upstart.

And July should devour Casy again.

I really want savior to win. But it might be very hard. Midas always has a huge number of tanks that in both games savior was able to destroy by luck or stupidity by midas. If midas has that many in this next game and actually uses them to their max, it will be hard. Especially because it is hitchhiker.

Savior
July

My hardest choice is Casy/July... I think July may be able to pull it off though, although it will be close.

how could monster terran lose.

I don't want anyone left to win OSL... I guess NaDa could win another one, but it's like picking the least of all these evils.

I want savior and midas to lose.. because their play styles are getting kinda old... reinvention savior? id just like to see same new faces revolutionise something for a bit... not that i dont like these guys.. hopefull the one who does win, plays creatively
I want up to win, because nada is cursed, and the prophecy must be kept!
I want FBH to win... but i dont expect him nor ggplay to go to far this osl

The only one here that I genuinely want to win is GGplay. He's play has been absolutely beautiful in this series, and I hope to see more of that in game 3.

Up > Nada, not that I think Up > Nada as a player, but because Curse > Nada.
July vs. Casy, who to cheer for?!?!
Savior vs. Midas - What do these two have in common? They are amazing players with insane macro. Also, both would be destroyed by Zergman in the semis. By 3 4 pools.

Dammit midas is so strong right now. He is pretty much the only player that gives savior a run for his money. Plus the map is hitchhiker.

Is Hitchhiker supposed to be T>Z? Because Fake Yellow raped Oov hard on it.

Anyways, I could care less if Savior gets knocked out. July is the one true Zerg.

"히치하이커에서 저그를 상대하기 편한가.
-Are you comfortable fighting Zerg in Hitchhiker.
▶Not really. Some Zerg I know professed vs Terran is good in Hitchhiker. I agree with them. Compared to other maps, vs Zerg is more difficult. I hear many Zerg complaining to Terran that the maps are imbalanced; I think they are spoiled."

quote from casy interview hmm... also in the same interview fake yellow said he thinks that it is a harda map for z.. hmm..

the proleague players tend to say z>t on that map.

Most of the people here believe it is t>z

That was what Midas was thinking when he did that apparently. Winner of this match is the prime candidate to win the whole thing, and he knows it. Wants to get over Savior asap, since he has to do it eventually.

It will be funny to see Midas beating Savior just to lost every game in round 8

I am rooting for Much (no other choice) so Savior going home is a good thing, but I just don't want him to lose to Midas. What a dilemma.

Should I go to some cinema to watch BABEL with friends or staying home alone to see these matches? It's Friday night here and I really don't know. The 2nd option sounds too much antisocial but honestly who gives a shit about Leonardo, it's Savior vs Midas plus Up vs Nada and Casy vs July all do-or-die! But that would means my friends will discover my secret weirdo-loser inner self.
Any advice? :-s

I'd stay home and watch the games. You can always go out with your friends at other times, but these matches live will only be live ONCE.

Would be boring if an oldschool player wins the OSL IMO. I just like new players (well, with a few exceptions)

If it was a final, yes, but come on, it's the Ro16. Games are played everyday, if you start not going out because of your daily progaming, you'll be pretty lonely soon. :p

whether he knows it or not tonight is a pivotal point in midas' career

after tonight, he can walk away with enough confidence to steamroll the rest of this OSL and be on his way to multiple starleague wins, or he can question his abilities and doubt if he truly has what it takes to be a champion

Very true imo. If he loses today, he remains the eternal underachiever, very skilled, but never able to actually win something. If he wins however, he's the big favourite to win this Starleague.

GGPlay had a very nice strategy prepared that would've been near unbeatable had FBH fast expanded, but FBH reacted extremely well. Very nice play.

Just had to say this.. but since all bets are 50/50 I guess you might just as well close your eyes and choose

EDIT: maybe I should add that I am 52% and I have been betting for all seasons so far...[I suck I know]

holy JFC, upmagic managed to get a bunch of his BC out w/ red health

that's going to be pretty huge for upmagic once he repairs those

nada expanding along the edges of the map now

Nada still macroing like an insane mad genius out of 6 factories. Upmagic still trying to mass BCs and push forward w/ tank BC

Upmagic spots some of Nada's expos and is trying to do some basic harass w/ wraiths (they get killed asap)

Nada taking both the other mains: this is a very smart move by nada, as upmagic is clearly immobilized by his powerful, but slow BC army

There's not very much that upmagic can do about the expansions themselves

OMG LIKE THOUSANDS OF GOLIATHS FOR NADA!!

ALL ATTACKING THE BCS!

JESUS, up magic loses like 10 BCs, but nada is forced to retreat

Nada lost almost all of his ground forces

Upmagic has about 3 BCs and maybe 5 tanks

wierd wierd wierd crazy game

Upmagic hasn't expanded at all, whereas nada has his main, both naturals, both other mains, and 2 other naturals

game looking to be HEAVILY in nada's favor at this point

nada adds on a bunch more starports to get some wraiths (maybe BCs as well)

Upmagic rapidly getting mined out, and now builds 5 MORE FACTORIES WTF!!

Upmagic NEEDS another expansion like... NOW if he wants to have any hope of winning this game

That was beautifully done by Savior. The constant muta harrass to keep Midas in his base as long as possible, keeping the neutral buildings intact as long as possible, a third gas, and then a perfectly timed attack just as Midas leaves his base. He even planned for the wraiths!

No matter how much you hate him, you can't deny that was very well done. i can only imagine how long he spent planning and training for the execution of that strategy.

I definitely can't understand what's so funny about Midas crying... what a bunch of retarded kids you are. The guy spends like 16 hours a day training for this matchup which might be (as some have said above) a pivotal point in his career and all you can do is laugh at him ? Maybe one day you'll find yourself in such a position and all can I can wish for is that nobody will be laughing at you when you're down.
Please grow up.

It was well done and all, but greatly aided by the fact that Midas once again showed just how inflexible he is. Going m&m only against mass muta -> fast guardians isn't the brightest thing to do.

Actually I wonder whether vessels (instead of wraiths) would have done that much better. Savior had devourers and scourges. Had Midas irradiated the devs first, the guardians would have pwned anyway. Had he irradiated the guards, he would have made more of them while making sure to keep separating the one being irradiated.

He would have needed vessels far earlier than that. Those startports seemed really late actually.

i hate midas because he made what will now be regarded as one of the stupidest decisions in OSL history, picking the toughest opponent in the ro16.

midas now has to go through a tough ass dual tournament with SO much more pressure on him now, especially with SKT1's one starleague rule. he's mentally fucked and if he doesn't make it through dual next time, he's just fucked general.

as i said before this is a pivotal point in his career, where he can gain enough confidence to be pushed over the top of that OSL winner hill, or he can violently be shoved back down to mediocrity, as this is just another example of how he can't win when it matters because of his inflexible builds and style.

you don't beat a the best player in the world during group stage, disrespect him by picking him first in the ro16, and then expect to win while you have a history of losing clutch matches.

His signs are a part of his charisma, especially with his girl fans.

They love that shit, it adds to his character. I prefer little things like that from pro gamers instead of the same boring face all the time. I was ecstatic when BoxeR threw his arm in the air after his win vs joyo on paradoxxx, and years later against PuSaN after the 3-2 come back. Why not let Midas do his own thing?

I know what you mean about the funny signs and all, but that's really because he's sweet. The guy's just emotional, and he tries so hard to control it but only half succeeds. He should either go back to his CJ roots and not show any emotion at all, or (and I think this is better) just let his feelings show on his face. I can't imagine what it must be like to keep holding back again and again and again.

I thought Midas still had a good chance if he countered. All the bases were fairly undefended, and marines & medics are much more mobile than guardians. Maybe he could have ran around making the slow guardians chase him. An elimination race might be in his favor also since only those devourers could do any damage to lifted buildings. This is all easy to say when I'm watching as an obs.

When Midas charged those guardians with his marines all stuck on the ramp, it was painful though. He might have had a chance if he defended that, seeing as how Savior was going low econ.

Good game anyways.

Taiche > couldn't have said it better.

Yeah, I meant much earlier ports, get vessels fairly early, stop or at least hinder the muta harass with irridiate and be prepared for the guardians with a few vessels.

There's no guarantee it would've worked, because of how the map looks, Midas couldn't really have retreated his m&m and waited for the irridiated guardians to die because the cracklings would've run his expo over, but it definitely had more chances of succeeding than his way too late 2 port wraith.

(Savior building two devourers was extremely nice though, not trying to take anything away from him.)

So Mr Dumb FUCK Alexander thinks it's dumb to smile when you win an important televised game? You sir has no fucking sense how happy it would be to win a game versus savior. Words can't describe the feeling, and dumb asses like Mr. Alexander wouldn't know how it feels either.

He trained this map for weeks, you really think he only had one build order ready ?

If he used the other build during grop stage it's because he thought he could win with it. I'm sure he has at least 3 more timing builds on this map.

no one's actually focusing on what truly lost midas the game

he fucked up his MMF rush at the start

if you listened carefully during the attack, he accidentally stimmed twice. Consequently, he lost way to many marines far to quickly (after a double stim, it only takes 1 sunken shot to kill a marine). At that point, savior had a huge HUGE HUGE lead. Savior abused it with his tech pattern:

Midas was FORCED to make tons of MM to hold off the mutalisks. In order to prevent Midas from teching too quickly, Savior simply continued to make mutalisks while taking a 3rd gas and hiving. The failed attack early on in addition to the unusually aggressive mutalisk attack castrated Midas's offensive capabilities. Sure, wraith+MnM isn't exactly the best counter to guardians, but if you look at Midas's play, his science facility finished about 20 seconds before the guardians did.

After that first attack, there was nothing midas could do.

i'm so sorry midas, i'm so so so sorry :[

What's wrong with him picking Savior? He knows he can beat him and that his style is pretty damn efficient against him. It's both a decent pick and a hard enough one to be fully motivated.

Also where the hell do you see any form of disrespect in that?

Midas is only human. There are many times in life when we deliberately choose the hardest path. It may be stupid, but there was something more at stake than a confirmed place in the OSL.

It's disrespectful to the fans. Everyone knew those two were basically a notch above everyone else in the Starleague, yet Midas pissed on the fans by choosing to face Savior at the beginning and middle of the Starleague, instead of, y'know, in the finals. It was like he knew he couldn't beat Savior in a all-at-once Bo5, so he decided that the best course of action was to try to knock him out before the pressure really kicked in.

It did force him to tech later, but not nearly as late as he did. Also, even if teching earlier was a risk, he had to take it, there was no way he could beat guardians/cracklings with pure m&m on that map.

Edit: I agree with everything else you said though.

I feel sorry for the guy, but like Alexander said, he looks funny, i don't know why. And i don't agree, his life doesn't depend on this one game or at least i hope for him it's not the case. I don't see any moral reason why i shouldn't laugh right now. As Hot Bid says, he disrespected Savior picking twice in the same osl, he knew it was probably the hardest choice he could make, he sould have been prepared for it.
I love his play, but he doesn't know how to lose, like ForU said in the old interview Mani posted on the air force team thread. When he learns that, i'll respect him much more. For the moment he's just a silly kid who can't stand the idea he lost and i'm laughing at this king of kid.

Ok the guy is suppose to face savior now or later, why not beat him now and get it over with? He's going to eventually play him.

Better chance to knock him out in lesser games(bo3) than more games(bo5) he knows hes Savior. The best right now in the league. That's why hes picking him now, hes benefiting himself from beating him early on.

Don't get why you guys have to hate on him?

I definitely can't understand what's so funny about Midas crying... what a bunch of retarded kids you are. The guy spends like 16 hours a day training for this matchup which might be (as some have said above) a pivotal point in his career and all you can do is laugh at him ? Maybe one day you'll find yourself in such a position and all can I can wish for is that nobody will be laughing at you when you're down.
Please grow up.

i hate midas because he made what will now be regarded as one of the stupidest decisions in OSL history, picking the toughest opponent in the ro16.

midas now has to go through a tough ass dual tournament with SO much more pressure on him now, especially with SKT1's one starleague rule. he's mentally fucked and if he doesn't make it through dual next time, he's just fucked general.

as i said before this is a pivotal point in his career, where he can gain enough confidence to be pushed over the top of that OSL winner hill, or he can violently be shoved back down to mediocrity, as this is just another example of how he can't win when it matters because of his inflexible builds and style.

you don't beat a the best player in the world during group stage, disrespect him by picking him first in the ro16, and then expect to win while you have a history of losing clutch matches.

What's wrong with him picking Savior? He knows he can beat him and that his style is pretty damn efficient against him. It's both a decent pick and a hard enough one to be fully motivated.

Also where the hell do you see any form of disrespect in that?

Whats wrong? It's a dumb decision. Someone with 0 starleague wins and a history of losing pressure matches picks probably the most cerebral and clutch player right now? midas isn't trying to one-shot win-or-nothing, he's never even made the finals. he should be happy with gaining a seed to the next one, which he probably would've done if he didn't pick savior. if i was a midas fan i'd be so mad at him for fucking his chances for an easy berth into the next starleague. this is what happens when choke players pick champions in the ro16.

as much as i love july and wished he won, it was a fucking gosu move by casy, it single handedly won him the game.

if july didn't see those scvs he makes 3 sunks immediately

So, good players have to pansy-pick rookies to please the fans and reduce a risk of having two favorites face each other too early?

If it's not ro16 it's gonna be ro8 anyway. The chance for all the 3-4 favourites to all get to semis is extremely low.

That's because Casy tricked July into thinking he had FEed. Given the fact that July was spending resources on powering drones/hatches etc., there was no way he was going to be able to manage more than one sunk.

If midas' goal was to get into next SL, he shouldnt have picked savior. But if his goal was to win the whole thing, picking savior was the correct choice, in order to get him in a bo3 instead of a bo5.

Sure it's nice to have a guarenteed spot in next SL, but no one gives a damn about who finishes top 4 in a SL unless you win (or you fail to win repeatedly and pple remember you for your shortcomings)

Man, you really have to download the VOD and watch carefully to see how it was done. There was a damned good reason for July to have done what he did, and it wasn't to let people like you call him a noob.

Okay retard, how many times do people have to explain it? July saw the scvs mining at expo and thought he FE so in his mind there was no need for sunkens. Zergs dont mindlessly put up sunkens if they're not needed, it's called money control. He was tricked, thats all. If he never saw those scvs he would of put them up.

So, because he didn't win a starleague, he should give up the idea of ever pulling it off? I mean, it's pretty obvious Midas wanted a starleague win. That pick was to make sure he had what it took. I'm positive he prefers losing now than choking once again during semis or worse, during the final.

Do you seriously think his mind should be like "oh well I'm a choker anyway I should pick rookies and then see if I can get somehow lucky during the semis"? When you lack confidence the worst way of getting things better is to avoid getting in a choke-friendly situation again.

o well that was wrong either..
I'm pretty sure july thought casy FEed and expected slower tech from casy so he actually thought that casy was moving out without medic and wanted to flank casy's marines so he made lings. The key of Casy's move is to cheat july about his tech timing.

So, because he didn't win a starleague, he should give up the idea of ever pulling it out? I mean, it's pretty obvious Midas wanted a starleague win. That pick was to make sure he had what it took. I'm positive he prefers losing now than choking once again during semis or worse, during the final.

Show nested quote +
if i was a midas fan i'd be so mad at him for fucking his chances for an easy berth into the next starleague. this is what happens when choke players pick champions in the ro16.

Do you seriously think his mind should be like "oh well I'm a choker anyway I should pick rookies and then see if I can get somehow lucky during the semis"? When you lack confidence the worst way of getting things better is to avoid getting in a choking-friendly situation.

you think he lacked confidence so he picked him in the ro16? i think midas was overconfident, he won in group stage and thought hey i can beat savior even without longinus II. [edit, my fault i thought he knew no longinus II, in fact he didn't know =P]

1. if he waited, theres no disrespect and savior doesn't get the extra motivation
2. he would have seen the fast guardian strategy. midas does the same exact shit every game and he benefits most from knowing all possible builds that savior can throw at him, if he sees the fast guard build when savior plays another terran he probably would have won the game on hitchhiker no?

Sure it's nice to have a guarenteed spot in next SL, but no one gives a damn about who finishes top 4 in a SL unless you win (or you fail to win repeatedly and pple remember you for your shortcomings)
I would have thought facing savior early would decrease his chances of winning the whole thing.

what midas should have done is not pick savior, get to semis or finals, analyze and practice like crazy, not this stupid bo3 get lucky shit. he straight up tried to steal it and it backfired, "hard road" is one way to see it, "try to get lucky because bo3" is another

edit: i guess you can give a nod to midas because i suppose his BEST chance was to do bo3 with a week to practice in between, but i still maintain that the motivation that savior got from being straight up disrespected wasn't worth it =P

and haji, facing savior in ro16 is not best chance to win OSL, because facing him in the ro16 means you 100% face him

if midas didnt pick him maybe savior loses a luckbox zvz or plays casy or hwasin and they beat him?
wouldn't that be a smarter thing to do.

He's lacking confidence when it counts and he knows it (or he's lacking something else, no matter what it is). To get that back, he wanted to beat the number 1 player in the world during a bo3. It was:
1. A player he knew he could beat with those maps.
2. A way of being able to think "well, I beat the Starcraft god already, why would I choke again vs an inferior player?" during the semifinal (provided he'd get that far).

Also, once again, he had no idea about Longinus not being there.

1. if he waited, theres no disrespect and savior doesn't get the extra motivation

What extra motivation? It's his first OSL. He would be as much motivated vs anyone.

2. he would have seen the fast guardian strategy. midas does the same exact shit every game and he benefits most from knowing all possible builds that savior can throw at him, if he sees the fast guard build when savior plays another terran he probably would have won the game on hitchhiker no?

He knew the guardians were coming anyway. Why would he make wraiths otherwise? They're not great to counter mutas or any kind of different hive tech. As Day said he lost the game when he failed his rush.

Exactly. Sometimes, there's more at stake than an OSL.

Honestly, it doesn't sound very heroic to say, "I'm sure I can't win this OSL, so I'm just going settle for what I can get, like a seed in the next OSL, which I can't win either."

I'm not saying I agree with it, but I certainly understand why he would do what he did.

no, i believe that savior was motivated by playing midas because midas picked him. you can't say that it didn't motivate him more... i mean knowing saviors personality and the OGN sparkz incident you can really say that he is a vengeful fucker.

and what about midas knowing that zvz could be lucky and hwasin and casy also exist in this osl? they can very well knock out savior for him... that'd be the smart thing to do. not the hardest thing but the smart thing.

i agree with you that midas did a manly brave thing, but its a dumb move on his part because it puts even more pressure on him. i disagree that the finals or semis would be less pressure, because midas CHOSE to play him in the ro16 and its like so much weight on him to win in that... its like he created that pressure for himself.

I fully agree with Hot_Bid, saying it was his best chance to win the whole thing is beyond any kind of logic.

Look at Nada last osl, he had the easy path and he won. Would he have faced someone like Iris or Midas, i don't think he would have made it. Picking one of your worst possible opponent might be a sign of confidence, but in the end i'm not sure it pays off.

All SKT1 eliminated then? Cool. They all had a pick, and all backfired. Too rich.

Glad to see Savior living up to his name, this OSL needs him.
I wouldn´t call him stupid, but let´s just say he´s unlucky when thinking...

Midas got trapped in the hyped up image of him being weak, and tried to dispel this image by acting tough unnecessarily. In acting tough he is just acknowledging that there was something wrong with his confidence, which is a sign of weakness.

Anyway savior will probably crush everything now.

Then again if he can beat an ultra-motivated Savior it's even better to prove himself. And he wasn't that far to beat him 2-0 btw. Key was game 1.

and what about midas knowing that zvz could be lucky and hwasin and casy also exist in this osl? they can very well knock out savior for him... that'd be the smart thing to do. not the hardest thing but the smart thing.

This would suck for the fans (oh wait, Etter thinks picking him that early sucks for the fans, too, though?), and wouldn't help him get over his choke issues at all. Choosing Savior just cannot be smart anyway. He didn't care about being smart.

I guess we just disagree here, that's it.

NaDa picks oov over and over and that's the deadest fucking dog I've ever seen but he does it because he might break the fucking curse one day. Midas NEEDS a goliath to pull off a David.

And when he does that he'll be a better player overall not just for beating a true master but he'll finally have the boost. I'd rather aim HIGH and fall far than never fall at all and it's the same thing. I don't like Midas but the kid needs to do what he needs to do so he can stop being EMO.

Yes, i think Iris or Midas would have won against Nada, he was not really amazing last osl, yet he managed to win it. This osl looks a bit like it, but i really hope it doesn't turn the same way, it would be really disapointing.

I think what Midas and Savior have here is a bit of rivalry. Midas wanted revenge for defeat in MSL, and he picked him in group stages. He beat him, then he thought I have to beat the hottest player in a bo series now. I must have my revenge, I will be the first one to beat him in a bo series. If you take Midas`s SKILLS into consideration it makes sense.

Please note to all I am not Midas fan, but I respect his skills. He and Savior are on the same level. Just as seen in this bo3, Midas had the edge in every game, he was so close to win every game of that bo3. I think the main reason why he lost are some bad decision making. He could have finished todays game in like under few minutes. When he pushed into Saviors natural and killed all the lings, there was only one sunken, and reinforcements were on the way, but he chose to go back. He could have gone into Saviors main and killed drones because there weren`t any zerglings iirc.

Also Savior had a lot of luck in this bo3, you can`t say he didn`t. I am not trying to justify Midas, but I think he does not deserve all this shit talking. He came so close to beat Savior like no other terran player.

The crucial thing in todays game was once again awesome muta micro from Savior. He managed to keep Midas in his base so long, even tho he didn`t have much mutas from the beginning. And then Midas decided to go out, and Savior already morphed guards, and Midas was caught with his pants down, and undefended base. Brutally executed by Maestro^TM

You could say savior's 1 lurker killing like 4 tanks in the first game was lucky or you could say it was skill. Just like you could say Midas doing the correct build order to counter savior's build order in game 2 was lucky or skill. You could say Midas stimming twice in his early attack in game 3 was unlucky or bad skill. Either way you say it sAviOr won.

I dont know. Savior is a beast. I say it again. I think midas is still too one dimensional. He\'s a strong player but once you start shaking around his gameplan he struggles. I just dont think he can addapt well to critical unforseen situations. He\'s the typical newskool macro-generation-player. Absolutly fearsome exponential growing power. But that\'s it. Use the right mindtrick, and he\'s done.

Savior on the other side sees his next step right after his main-plan failled. He can addapt so fast to every situation. But if you hit him at the right time you can gain an advantage. I think there are two ways of beating savior. Extremly well timed ninja kicks or the long, hard way. And if you go for the long way you cant do things by half-measures. Every decision has to be well considered. Hwasin did the ninja thing. Nal_Ra did the long painfull way. Midas tried a halfhearted timed ninja and failed. That\'s it. He pulled back and was saviors puppet from then on.

All im saying is, when you play against the best player of the world stick to things you\'re 100% sure you are able to do. Everything else is stupid.

I'm surprised that a player like FBG can pull out some very creative plays in that game.

UpMuch, then FBH then Casy - looks like a Boxer spirit has come to OSL.^^ While Midas keeps showing why he's a strong player but will not become a great one anytime soon with his inflexibility and lack of thinking-out of the box.

(To some guy who keeps arguing that July is a noob than Casy's move is purely pimp, no offense but your posts are just painful to read, please kindly consider stop making new ones for a while to watch and read more)

Look, its simple,, Midas disrespected savior's skills, he thought just because he'd beat him once he could do it again bo3 and he failed and got raped... Could the Midas fans please stop crying about it and accept it to be the case,,, A lot of people still aren't giving Savior the respect he deserves.. Is it because people have gotten so used to terrans dominating zergs in OGN (in general)? If you didn't have the occasional zerg player who could consistently beat decent terrrans (July no longer qualifies) then Starcraft would suck,,, SK terrran domination couldn't last forever, so get over it,, anyway on these maps nada and FBH are a massive threat to Savior... Who wants to see nada win again anyway,, lets have someone new! (ie- Savior) ((sorry Much you'd make a good underdog but Savior's ZvP is too good..)
actually come to think of it casy's probably the biggest threat,, his ZvT is very scary indeed,,,

What a player this Savior is

Midas same level of Savior?...Definetely,NOT.Savior has proven again to be stronger than him ...

In terms of pure gaming skills he is, but he's a choker and proves it over and over again ( double stim WTF ?!?!? ) Savior has skills + mental strenght/ability to handle pressure to support it on big events.

Anyway NaDa is going to win his 4th OSL so who cares about those 2 newbs :p

Fatzerg got owned really hard.

Midas' doublestim lost him the game. Granted, sAviOr played very well, but midas could have done more damage if he didn't fsck up. Not that it would have clinched the victory for him, but at least he would have winning chance.

NaDa! gogo~

I don't like Casy b/c he knocked out YellOw in shinhan 1, but I like him more than savior.

It's just.. July never had Casy ^_^

Also, you guys forget.. Midas and Savior are in a league of their own. Savior's only Real Rival is Midas. Rivalries go back and forth, but it's STILL too close to say Savior is definitively better. These two can go back and forth for seasons to come, if not longer.

I highly disagree. For there to be a real rivalry, I think Midas would have to come off with a lot more wins vs Savior. I dont even think that Midas has EVER shown any kind of ingenious play that would make me think he really is anywhere close to Savior's level.

1.) The last time he won was a map that was a headache for Zerg to win on. Just reading the battle reports was enough to know that Midas did not win that game, the map did.

2.) If going by today's game, Midas fucked up big time - again. To say that Midas is at the level of Savior, the guy is going to need to learn how to control himself a lot better.

p.s.- I'm so mad that all of CJ is going to eliminate each other T_T

He made the lings after he knew the MM was coming. He didn't have TIME to put up sunks and get them made. GOD YOU ARE DUMB. Lings were his only chance dude.

you are wrong july did indeed have time to build sunks. the lings scouted the rather large marine firebat and (2?) medic force heading for his base and july immediatly built 1 (wtf) creep. once it morphed into a creep colony he turned that one into a sunken, then he built another creep colony. Maybe july just didnt have money, but i dont get why he just didnt start 3 colonys the second he saw those marines and medics heading to his base. THe one sunken was up by the time they got there, so if he built three, he would have had a better chance.

plus, his control of his lings was not very good. July ran most of his lings right into the firebats, and didnt pull back. This is probaly the worst july game i have seen.

also, savior vs midas is not 6-4, all that matters is that its 2-0, twice savior advanced and twice midas went home. nobody cares about group stage or how many wins you get in a boX if you eventually lose.

Casy's move was indeed a stroke of genius, but I can't see that it did any more than just to throw July off a little. If he had FEed, there would've been more than 5 scvs at the expo, and they would've went to mine more than once.

To me it seemed like he knew that Casy wasn't FEing within a few seconds, but that was enough to delay his second sunken by a few seconds enough for Casy's rush to be successful. July still had enough stuff to hold off Casy, even in the first attack. If either Casy had bad firebat positioning or had he targeted the single medic with sunkens before sending his lings in, he could've held it off with little losses.

Well that one split second when he thought FE was all that Casy needed imo. The sunken was built only a couple of seconds after the attack, and the second and third were no where near close to being built.

If he did go the build July thought he did, those lings would have been enough to block and counter, but because he faked it, he chose lings instead of sunks, and realized what happened a split second too late.

One hilarious thing I found was that the commentators had literally NO CLUE why Casy sent those SCV's to mine. I figured it out as soon as I saw it, but they were like "huh? Is that a mistake? How can you make a mistake like that?" One guy actually attempted an explanation saying something like "Sometimes you can get your hotkeys mixed up and chose your workers instead".... meanwhile i'm screaming "YOU DUMBASSES HE'S TRYING TO FAKE FE!!!" and then right when Casy is at July's door, one guy finally suggests it and they all slowly start to realize the brilliance of that "mistake". Really OGN commentators can be really clueless (MSL commentators are much more understanding of the game).

As for Midas picking Savior, I don't think he was exactly disrespecting or anything, I think he was in a dilemma.

On one hand, he knew he wanted to beat Savior in a straight up match VERY BADLY especially after that MSL loss. If he didn't pick him, who knows which bracket they'd end up in, they may never play and he may never get his revenge again (especially with SKT1's gay 1 starleague rule).

One the other hand, his chances of beating Savior is probably better in a bo5. 3 out of the 4 maps seem to be imbalanced for Terran, and in a bo5 one of those maps would be used twice, giving him a good advantage... then there's the fact that it's monster savior, and to play him now is pretty much challeging yourself early.

He wants to play him very badly, but he's also afraid of him. He wants revenge, and if he missed this chance he may never get it back...

What I want to say is, it wasn't a "should I take an easier route or a harder route?" decision, it was more of a "should I take this chance, or take that chance, either way could turn out badly".

Talking about midas stimming twice in the game, what if he did not make that mistake? will he be able to kill those sunkens? I counted midas has 10 marines, 2 medics and 1 Firebat at the starting time of the attack, 3 more firebats joined later. Savior has 4 sunkens ready, with 1 more morphing, and some dancing drones. What would happen normally?

thats true, iris's tvz is his rather poor matchup, and zergman has been playing great lately. zergman could be the dark horse to win this whole thing, although i would doubt that would happen.

unfortunatly for casy, he is going to have to face nada in the semi's, and i doubt he will be able to beat him. hopefully it wont be as bad as nada vs. goodfriend last osl (i doubt it will be).

Nada is not playing like the Nada of last OSL. Granted, his last game against Up was well played, but if you consider how brilliant Casy's been playing this OSL, my money's on him if they meet.

Zergman has chances to win, but Yarnc would have to make the finals.

I like Casy but he won't trick NaDa. IF anything, the last game has proven that even when confronted with an inferior position he comes out on top. Rarely, do tricks work on him. He has too much experience to lose to such things.

thats true, iris's tvz is his rather poor matchup, and zergman has been playing great lately. zergman could be the dark horse to win this whole thing, although i would doubt that would happen.

unfortunatly for casy, he is going to have to face nada in the semi's, and i doubt he will be able to beat him. hopefully it wont be as bad as nada vs. goodfriend last osl (i doubt it will be).

I dunno, last time I saw Casy TvT (vs. Oov in a very long bo5), it was absolutely sick. I don't even know if Nada at his best would be considered a favourite over Casy at his best. Casy's TvT is not tricky, just cool and aggressive

Nada at his his best is a favorite over anyone. Fortunately for Casy, Nada isn't even close to how good he was 2 years ago (or is it more now?). I still think Nada is the favorite over Casy though.

Nada at his best is not favorite over Savor. One way or another Savior owns Nada and always will pwn him. There has never been player that can own Savior at this shape. That gamer maybe will appear from shadows and I hope he will play toss.

You have to be fucking kidding with me. Nada? at his best? favorite over anyone? Yes?

lol. FUCK NO. Remember last OSL where...Nada won the third and got the golden mouse? yes?. Oh! Remember what happen after? he played "SuperFight" match against sAviOr!. Guess what...savior didn't lose .

Up did have the superior position, but it was more him throwing it away with a weird build than Nada playing that brilliant (he did play well though, as I said). The thing is, Casy's TvT isn't really built on tricks as you make it out to be, but rather on nonstop aggression and completely controlling the pace of the game.

I gotta agree with Pop on the Midas picking Savior thing.

I love it when players make ballsy picks.

For all you that think he did it to avoid a bo5 with Savior, that's retarded. With a map pool like this and the Terran fest of players, he'd have been better off letting other players take care of Savior and taking his chances, maybe not having to play him at all.

The reason why midas picked Savior is because he wanted to show that he's the best player around by picking and beating the best player in the world. He failed, but you can't knock him for trying.

It's just like when Ra picked Oov in the group selections back in the day. Oov was the hottest up and comer in the world at the time and he smashed Ra's face, sending him into the worst slump of his career.

Was is smart of Ra to do that? Maybe not, but it was fucking manly and he'll always have my respect for that. Unlike pussies *coughOOVcough* that always pick the lamest chump of an opponent they can get their hands on when they get to pick in selection ceremonies.

Midas is awesome and though he is a choke artist he's trying his best to show otherwise by constantly putting himself in clutch situations. He'll eventually pull it out boys. We just gotta wait for him to do it.

mana, we CAN knock him for trying.

its one thing to make a hard pick and back it up with a win, its another thing to make a hard pick and lose. he lost, henceforth the second-guessing.

he can do this as much as he wants but i will never respect him until he wins one of them =P

its just natural with scrutinized decision making that the ends will impact how the decision is viewed. just look at the NBA draft, when the Pistons picked Darko everyone was on board, justifying it, and they still were several years later until finally everyone admitted it: "it was a stupid decision."

several years from now when midas is struggling to find confidence to qualify for starleagues we'll look back on this point and realize just how stupid he was to make this pick. you may believe differently, but we will see.

michael jordan was essentially a loser until his game winning shot in college, he didn't even make the HS basketball team. would he have gone on to be the best player in the world and possibly in all time if he missed that game winning shot?

many careers in all sorts of competition have turned on something like this.

as i said before:

midas win: gains confidence and possibly wins starleague, on the road to be a champion
midas lose: cycle of self-doubt and second-guessing, wondering if he can ever get over the hump, possible failure to qualify for next starleague

that's an awful lot of pressure (for someone that doesn't excel in it) and a pretty crazy situation to put yourself in... if he didn't pick him he wouldn't even run that risk.

it basically boils down to if he won it would be viewed as brilliant, if not... well, we'll see won't we.

I guess I'm just saying that since he's clearly a weak player under pressure, I admire him facing that head on by constantly forcing himself into these difficult situations.

It isn't smart. It's gutsy, and I admire that in and of itself. When he finally suceeds doing that, I'll be proud of him since he forced it like a man rather than avoiding the situations that rattle him like a pussy.

I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking the way you do, I just view it differently.

I don't get why we aren't still talking about Casy's FE feint! Holy fucking shit that was PIMP! Best play of the year IMO. Fucking brillient strategic play!
