F91 is level 16 but there are also many, many people who have attain the level status of "Professional" as a whole new class after level 19. So their level of play is fairly high imo.
I will post up an entire new thread later on any further details that allows TLers to watch their live streams/ VODs and etc.
Holy shit apparently there leagues are actually separated by 'Semi-Pro' and 'Full-time'

Seriously? I tried to delve towards the Chinese scene a little while ago and met a bit of a brick wall- it seems to be even harder to get near to than the Korean scene! Please follow this up, a lot of good can come of it
Now Caihead have some very interesting news on the link: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=347791 and I have finally some free time on my hand and have some new information on Chinese StarCraft: Brood War scene and a bit of historical lesson of how I even managed to get myself to there in the first place.
Historical Encounter and Basic Understanding for the League + Show Spoiler +
On June 25 2012 23:40 Xiphos wrote: Lads and gents here is what I know about the current Chinese Scene
Recently, I have managed to get back on THE oldest computer from the family that still utilizes OS like Windows 97. Because of my curiosity, I wondered around and messed with it a bit there and there. Now you are probably thinking "What the hell does this have to do with StarCraft?". Well it turns out that my cousin that gave me the computer was a huge fan of the game and 9 years back, he used it for netsurfing and such. So on the favorite/bookmark folder, there were around 8 Chinese Websites dedicated to Brood War/WarCraft/Age of Empire and pretty much anything RTS related from the golden age. Most of the sites are unactive and some of them are even expired as its mod probably have decided to not pay for the fees anymore. This is some paleontology stuff right there.
However, on one of the Websites, it re-directed me to Playsc.com. Once the link appeared in front of me, the slogan reads "We only talk about SC". And I thought "Cool, something I can related to." Then as I navigated through the board, there was a thread that says "2012年中国星际争霸论坛水友赛" which vaguely translates to "2012 China StarCraft Team League" that goes by the abbreviation of STL. So then I digged deeper in this whole enigmatic presence of this league. And by my research, this is the 23rd 'STL' held to this day. The League spans for a total of 23 seasons.
It looks like the Chinese have their own system of hierarchy with the list provided. With a little bit more of digging closer to the core of the Interweb mantle, I have found another site with identical information pertaining to the league.
If you scroll down the link to the third section separated by the Blue Bars, you will find a subheading "STL战队专区", it means STL Team Forum. 30 teams are listed underneath. 30 is not a number that can go underestimated.
As I aforementioned their method of ranking and going back to the tournament page (first link), there are 5 teams currently listed on the Participation list (more Teams are being contacted). There is also a link on 八达 vs 遥远 (8da vs Yaoyun), looks like forum battles and 确定 means confirmed by the teams just below that.
PLU’s map removal: Vs WanFeng: Python 1.3 Vs PlaySC: Destination1.1 Vs YaoYuan: Destination1. Vs 8da: Python 1.3
8da’s map removal: Vs YaoYuan: Neo Sniper Ridge 2.0 Vs PlaySC: Neo Ground Zero 2.0 Vs WF: Python 1.3 Vs PLU: Destination 1.1
WanFeng’s map removal: Neo Ground Zero 2.0 for all matches
YaoYuan’s map removal: vs 8da: Neo Ground Zero 2.0 vs PLU: Destination 1.1 vs WanFeng: Destination 1.1 vs PlaySC : Destination 1.1
PlaySC’s map removal: Neo Ground Zero 2.0 for all matches
Format Best of 5 : 4 1 vs 1s and 1 2v2, all five games MUST be played Game 1:1v1 Game 2:1v1 Game 3:2v2 Game 4:1v1 Game 5:1v1
Players Selection Rules Each team picks 10 players with 1 or 2 captains 1 vs 1 players can’t be played repeatedly while 2 vs 2 players can.
Race Selection You have to select one permanent race upon registration. Cannot be random in 1 vs 1,players are allowed to use different races in 2 vs 2 with the exception of the following composition: Zerg + Zerg, Zerg + Random, Random and Random .
Server (The two sides can negotiates to using other servers) VS Battle Platform (http://game.vsa.com.cn/vsmain/jsp/comm/index.jsp - Instruction Coming Soon)
Game Version (The participating parties and live group may arrange to use other versions) 1.16.1
Replay Packs After each math being played, reps are almost immediately released to the public through 8da.com but you do require the registration of the site that is in Chinese so I have decided to download them and uploaded to 4shared.com for the foreigners to get a taste of what they have to offer.
Original Message From TheShimmy: You are saving the TeamLiquid BW community. Just when so so many of us thought we were doomed to be playing/watching SC2 forever, China pulls out to be THIS FREAKING AWESOME. Wow! Is all I have to say. I will definitely be casting this content in English. Let me know what time the matches start so I can do my best to cast whenever, even if its through replay. I am all in in helping any way I can in saving the BW scene.
To-Do-List - Updating this thread at the best of my ability with more details - Getting us a viable stream link for LIVE - Attempt to bridge the communities together

that would take a while any way so having a thread up is cool

I tried to get a megathread of the league on the forums and stuff but not much showed up but
errr just go skip to 33:50 to see how unique these games are LOL
Yeah wtf was that. Was this a legit game or was one of the players trying to show off?
these are all legit games if by that you mean they were broadcasted and counted towards a league standing, but the chinese players do tend to like to show off, lol
I would also just like to note that 2v2 has been a tradition in China that has carried over for much longer than in Korea, and has some what of a competitive scene, obviously it's still side lined to the 1v1's.

Great news <3 good job! It would be nice if we could get the events covered at least somewhat and maybe have the them in the calendar with a (re)stream. Replays or VODs would still be more than enough tho.
On June 26 2012 16:41 hydrogg wrote: What server/antihack do chinese players use? They dont seem to be using mini, wlauncher, or iccup from the vod.
They use VS server, it's a chinese ladder server. It used to be full of hackers when I played there in 2009, but it looks like they have their own anti hack launcher now !
Wow, i never knew the Chinese scene was this big. It's like when an explorer discovers a great unknown civilization Also, does anyone here know how big is in China the WC3 scene?
so finally we come to a stage where we can see the merge of chinese bw community with the foreigners bw community? i always want to see this after many foreigners gosu like nony, idra,jf left bw and i think the introduction of chinese gosu can do some help to this community. i tried to do this by bringing chinese into last nation war, and i think the outcome was okay.(with their help, team AP hit the last 4, and some good games were played as well. like cvcv vs semih, choosy and michael)
though after some time i think most people dont remember them, except players in team AP...
Thank you, Xiphos! I am sure I will speak for many when I say that I had no idea Chinese had a proscene beyond an amateur scene, so thank you for bridging the gap!
This looks really interesting, I hope to catch some games live if possible. And 30 teams in the STL? Are you serious? I found 12 hard to follow... No complaints though!
Ahh.. Can you use mediafire instead? Or even repdepot although people will have to download each file (but you can batch upload them). 4shared isn't horrible but I don't like that it asks you to register an email it doesn't even need lol. Mediafire also has no wait time, which is quite nice.
Thanks thanks for all this it is really cool that you are bridging the gap a little :D
UPDATED with the latest games of 8da vs WangFeng and uploaded all reps to Sendspace for ease of use. Set up a result section for people that are lazy to check out the games themselves.
errr just go skip to 33:50 to see how unique these games are LOL
My question is why Korean Commentators don't use this sort of Observer/Maphack UMS. Seems like it would be quite handy..
Because Blizz give them permission to legally stream these games while a tiny alteration of their game will make the gaming company to go completely butthurt.

thanks for the work xiphos, been busy myself and tired so i havent got much for you yet, sorries
I think each of these matches should have their own individual thread. Following the Chinese scene may be the new home of post-Korean BW fans. I'd love to start doing English Casts of these games.

Yeah sure, download the reps and you can do w/e you want with them! They gets released one day after the games being played anyways.
I think this thread can serve as a r/s one and you can make new thread in the tournament sections for your broadcast as you wish.

After casting my first CSTL series I can very well confirm that this is going to be very, very epic. The format is intriguing, the players are highly skilled, and the strategies are fresh. I am definitely casting every set of reps put on here.

Why won't you only select the BW window? At least the one VOD I've seen with xsplit you had the whole desktop recorded. Just add new screen region and select the BW window or even cut just the game part of it.

yup, that's all you have to do. "select screen region" and then click anywhere on the BW window, drag it into fullscreen on your xsplit preview window, and you're done! But also remember to go into your "channels" settings, and test different resolutions+bitrates to see how high you can push all of the various settings. Also remember that the streaming resolution is reset to HD every time you restart your Xsplit, so you'll probably have to re-set it every time in the "channels" menu. Otherwise you'll have a crystal clear stream which runs at about 0.5 FPS, depending on your connection of course.
This tells me that Aystar have managed to get on both ICCup and play in the Chinese VS Battle Platform Server.
I think that since Aystar is on BOSS Clan, we can get some clan's insider to contact him and get YaoYuan's attention that there is a strong interest for BW oversea.
EDIT: Updated with the latest result/rankings and uploaded most recent Rep pack to sendspace.

There has been some Chiense players on foreign teams/pariticipated in foriegn tournies, like the Altitude Nation Wars. I think The.WK also joined NB but wasnt very active, he was a bit busy and couldnt play a lot.
We do have some contact of the Chinese players and we are trying to contact them but they are not very active at the moment. So if anyone else can try to contact them that'd be great.

Im not exactly sure. Im going to play around with the stream to see what works better later.
Also, this thread reallyyyy needs to go into the BW tourneys section. Just moving the OP would work.
Well honestly I think the best way to do it would be to just copy to the entire first post (the running tab on the league). That way the league could be more visible and would be in the tourney section. Plus, I would add the tag [CSTL] on the front of the title. Other than that everything can stay the same from the OP. Except maybe my cast section, which should probably have English Cast from TheShimmy and then a spoiler below it to prevent the running tab from becoming too long.

The current STL #24 is in PlayOff with 30 teams. Next one shall start in about a mouth after #24. And with C-OSL a continuous event. Potentially, we got ourselves a BW-only ProLeague, and an individual league.
What we need is to get our own foreign guys playing in those tournaments.
Then if we do well, this will spark even more interests. I think that if somehow the Foreign/South Korean Amateur/Chinese Player communities came together and work hard to revive Brood War scene, our game can bloom once again.

Please don't take good news and shit on it with baseless pessimism. If you wanna make a well thought out thorough and researched post about trends and the conclusions we can draw from them, ok, but if you hear good news about BW being alive and well in China I don't see why you feel the need to post 'soon it'll be dead there too' even tho there are no signs or reasons to believe this.
Korean proscene was a huge loss, but it's not all she wrote about BW. If we look at this from a positive angle, it is huge motivation for China to step up their game. Who would watch China while there was a well-structured and accessible proscene in korea? Not many people. Who will watch it now? Everyone who still wants to see BW. That's a big incentive for them to make themselves accessible now that they are within range of becoming the #1 place for BW.

Wow after reading http://www.8da.com/forum.php?gid=28406 (Chinese SC:BW's subforms), there are so many emotional stories about each teams. Every single one of them are embedded with deep history of their creation. They even have banners and uniforms for the players, it truly feels like a family. I hope that in the future, these storylines can be channeled into the heart of TLers. The 30 teams reps each of their perspective provinces, they show great native pride on what they do.
I can't believe that we overlooked them for a such a long time. If people in TL would have discovered this scene sooner, including the South Korean scene, we would have two strong shoulders to stand on and things would be VERY different.

Not to start an argument but, the popularized western conception that China (or even worse, generalized to the Chinese people) is somehow an unquantified evil communist country didn't help this and probably contributed to why it was overlooked for so long.
