There's no easy way. Usually you can tell from studying the map features. E.g. choke, highground, accessibility of third, min onlys etc and playing games on it. Alternatively you can check the map stats on TLPD, but they're sometimes inaccurate especially if 1 player skews it. | ||

There's not some arbitrary element except maybe island maps sucking for zerg. Major factors are often natural choke size, inverted/flat/high ramp, rush distance and how easy it is to secure a 3rd gas. | ||

Most people can't tell without looking at stats. For example most people thought that Destination would be T > P and Battle Royal would be Z graveyard. | ||
