Exactly 10 years 4 hours 13 minutes, and 36 seconds after the most cowardice act and event of my generation, this tournament will begin. Forever in our hearts, this is in respect and memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001 as well as those who have served in the armed forces and held accountable those responsible and involved.
On the 10th anniversary of a tragic event, it's only proper that LRM) brings you one to be celebrated and enjoyed: The Third LRM) $75 Island Tournament. This tournament in much of the same fashion will be based on team work. This is an exclusive, invitation only two versus two (2v2) event on island maps, where the most likely outcome of all matches will be air battles and pushes right up the middle of the terrain in response to such aerial attacks. Starting at 19CET/13EDT on Sunday, September 11th we invite all to come experience what will surely be an epic event as Sayle keeps us informed and entertained with the minute by minute international coverage and updates. See you there.
Format:
Two groups of four teams each will face off in Best of 3 Round Robin matches in this order:
A(Win) versus B(Lose) C(Win) versus D(Lose) A versus C -> The winner advances as the team with the best record. B versus D A versus D -> The winner advances as the team with the worst record.
Best record versus Best record --> The winner advances to the Finals.
Worst record versus Worst record --> The winner advances to the final qualifying match.
Best recordloser versus Worst recordwinner --> The winner advances to the Finals.
The Finals are Best of 5 and will be played on all maps in the order given below.
1* All players are subject to adminstrative discretion. 2* No Korean IP's. 3* All games must be played on MiniLauncher, ChaosLauncher, or wLauncher. 4* All games must be played on /dnd mode. 5* All matches must be played on Island Maps. 6* All replays must be submitted to the referee before starting the next round. 7* You cannot play the same map twice per series.

It is. The retirement thread said I will hand LRM) leadership and management responsibilities after I won my 4th consecutive iCCupCL title with my great teammates, and that I will retire from organizing at the end of ISL2. ISL2 ends October 8th (or something like that).

It will only be 8 teams. Unless you can attach yourself to one of the confirmed players or you are a really good player (and not by your own standards and judgment) then you cannot play. If you want to PM me who you are, I will consider all revolving circumstances and decide to invite you or not.

Yeah it's literally all Z players at this point. Given that though, Kashu can play T as well as gOgna and I'm sure with other teams seeing ZZ opponents will opt for a non-Z ally or that their ally plays as a different race. + Show Spoiler [Why] +
ZT > ZZ 100% of the time at the same skill levels. Also I could be wrong about ZerGgBoy's race... I've seen him play PZ with Baga many times.
Edit: Fixed ZerGgBoy's race (hence the conversation with myself in the spoiler above)
It is adorable to with a straight face defend the invasions of yet more (in a long list of) countries, this time Afghanistan and Iraq, in the guise of accountability, and not what they were: imperial missions involving the deaths of magnitudes more innocent people than died on 911, an act that is unique in cowardice and abhorrence only in that it is carried out on us as opposed to by us, and the further looting (financially, morally) of the American people to finance.

You can if you can pair up with a naked ally right now or PM me your team. Of course I'll judge your team beforehand, but if everything is all gravy then it's all gravy.
Metal is a good ally, if he hasn't fallen off any. Since it's all zerg, and he's a great teching terran who has amazing vulture and wraith micro, it would be pretty wise to take this if you want to split 75$.
I sort of half accepted the invite, but I don't play 2s or island maps: therefore, no partner (Also if you decide to take me on as a partner basically don't expect to win as I will just mass dark archons in attempt to humiliate my opponents.)
On August 30 2011 12:31 IslandMapBonjwa wrote: Don't see how anyone would let you play in their tournament if you said you don't want to take it seriously.
Although, Mind Controling incoming drops is cool :D.
I play almost exclusively island maps. A lot of 3v3/4v4 Hunters Islands games are played on Asia server, and you can get island games played on other servers. On Asia server though, on about every refresh in TvB there are some island games.
I hope LRM)Game lets your team play, but its his decision . Nb.Astro and Michael(OD) would be a beastly coombination, Michael(OD) was pretty inventive in the first tournament. Also, Nb.Astro is a sick Protoss and another Protoss would be good since there is only one other so far.
I also hope Belladona ends up allying Viciado, since I msg'd him last night and he said he'd try to play now.
I also hope Nizzy allies Joekim since their both in vTv. That would be a beastly combination!
I also hope either Mazur, Karate or Whistler plays with their teammate Lossilohi.
However, this is Game's tour, I can only cross my fingers .
Nb.Karate, the 2nd place of the 2nd Island Map Tournament, gets back from vacation September 9th if anyone wants to ally him! He was really good in the 2nd Island Map Tournament.
So, three more spots left open as allies of already confirmed players. Not sure if they already have people in mind or if they intend to pick from people who've shown interest in the thread *cough SouthPark and Metal cough*
Things just got a little bit more interesting if you ask me... a super Finnish team of Napoleon/Nizzy now. Only Viciado and JoeKim have not submitted their ally, this is getting good quickly.
I didn't know Lossilohi = Napoleon smurf! Nizzy + Napoleon is now my favorite to win this tournament!! Nizzy is probably the best or 2nd best 2v2er!! This tournament just got better!
Whistler will you ally Mazur or Karate and play, so we can watch you lose? Someone with superior micro and game sense will win you, as you already know, as you dodged.

Imho, players like Belladona and Nizzy are the sas.ace's of 2v2. There are so many good players in this tournament I have no idea who will win. Thanks KidCanada for agreeing to play despite island maps being new. I think Michael(OD) and Joekim are extremely creative players which will be very pimp this tournament!!!
I also really hope Kashu, Nizzy, and Joekim play random, since it will make for such entertaining strategies!
Joekim which mega-gosu are you going to ally? Someone like Semih would be fucking epic, if you don't mind allying him .
If Semih plays, Joekim, I will beg him to ally you since you're an inventive player .

Something tells me Semih will play in this tournament, and, that Christmas will come early!!! If I have time, I might get Dan to make a highlight video and I might post some highlight screenshots; however, I'm busy as hell.
hmm.. joekim told me i can't ally him, but i got this PM:
Hello Mutalisk,
You are receiving this PM as an invite to a small private tournament. It will be the third (3rd) LRM) island tournament. It is more exclusive and a 2v2 island tournament. There will be a maximum of 8 teams, but if you are receiving this PM - your ally is up to you. Also, if you are receiving this, you were requested to play by the sponsor specifically. The thread will be made late tomorrow or Saturday during the 4th day of ISL2.
Sincerely,
LRM)Game
i know Game and i don't get along, but does this PM mean i am invited and allowed to play? if not, i understand and gl hf to the 2v2ers in this tour.

I was under the impression that Mutalisk was ex: LRM)Six due to Belladona laddering with you/him. I'm actually quite surprised that Belladona played an entire season with you in hindsight. Regardless, that invite was intended for Six.
I like when threads are created early because then there is no excuse to getting the best possible players to play. Also, more hype for the tournament!!!
"Why am I looking forward to this 2v2 Island tournament, besides the epic teamwork?" -or- "General Island Map Advice From Avid Fanboy!"
Zerg-Wise *Epic ZvZ games without Zerglings. *Slow Zergling drop cheese into base trade xD. Probably on Hunters Islands. Hell, lurker drop too, why not? *Possibly viable Dual Lair Hydra/Lurker/Ling drops. Cheesy, but Island Maps are cheesy xD. *Slow Drop Expand into double expoing for Zergs to catch up macro-wise. *Scourge Sniping/Containing *Seeing players make 4-6 Scourges at the beginning to prevent first expansion/or first drop rush. *Watching Queens ensnare stacked Wraiths and then being used to ensnare M&M follow up. If I'm really lucky I will see them parasite Dropships/Shuttles to be used as map hack for incoming drops. Also, any other epic uses of Queens. *Sniping Terran expoes with Queen's Infest CC ability. *Seeing burrowed Hydralisks surpise incoming drops and intercept them. *Seeing Zergs upgrade Zergling speed to be able to keep up with Dropship and Shuttle harassing. Since burrow would already be upgraded for "surprise Hydralisks", then drones could be burrowed when mineral line is harassed. *Creep pushing to make expoing and safeguarding expoes easier. Dual Zerg teams, I have changed my mind, so vs ZT teams we can see epic 1 Island hive play into Guardians/Devourers. Not viable against ZP team imho. (Dual Zerg team will have air dominance so one can make one island Hive tech.) *Crosses fingers that Viciado/Belladona play Z/Z team vs Z/T teams. Whereas Zergs generally have huge disadvantage on island maps 1v1, maybe 2v2 will be different from the before mentioned reasons. I imagine in ZZ v ZT on islands, a few mutalisks would be made by the player teching to hive to help win the other ZvZ air battle, before he techs all the way to hive. If an enemy Terran is gay and goes Valkyries, the Devourers will be able to fight the Valkyries, imho. *Multiple Nydus Canal Uses; such as offensive Nydus Canals in enemy's base,or several defensive Nydus Canals. Maybe with Dark Swarm follow up xD. *Plague use and Dark Swarm useage vs. Capital Ships. *Seeing players make a Sunken Colony or Spore Colonies early game to fend off Zealot/Vulture/Corsair rushes/drops. *Possible Hydra/Scourge play like Nb.Karate demonstrated in the first Island Map Tournament.
In hindsight, I predict Zergs will have a hard time in Z/T Z/P teams, but a more more doable time in dual Zerg teams vs. Z/T teams. 2v2 Island Map Zerg play will be different because a dual Zerg team can have one Zerg make Hive tech for Guardians/Devourers, imo. My argument would be wrong if the Z/T team's Terran went Wraith/Valkryie though of course xD. In conclusion, in dual Zerg teams, I see Zerg 2v2er players having an advantage here .
Given that Sziky informed me that he can't play on this date, and this is indeed the third LRM) $75 island tournament, LRM)Pike and LRM)Choosy have replaced Sziky/Karate.
P.S Karate, you still can play in the tournament if you can confirm an ally before the end of Saturday. Just let me know.
I am almost sure Joekim will ally Nb.Karate, but Joekim will have to confirm it I guess. I think they have just as much chance to win the thing as anyone.
Best of 3, First map Dire Straits, Loser picks: 1 vs 4 2 vs 5 3 vs 6
Best of 3, First map Gorky Island, Loser picks: 1 vs 2 3 vs 4 5 vs 6
Best of 3, First map LRM Islands, Loser picks: 1 vs 6 2 vs 3 4 vs 5
The four best records will go into a standard playoff: Best of 3: 1 vs 4 --> Winner goes into the Finals Best of 3: 2 vs 3 --> Winner goes into the Finals

I'd like to second that. I'll try to catch as many games as I can before my flight.
we had a good run considering that you and i hardly team-up, when Team Finland are each others' main allies.
-thanks viciado/karate for not showing up and giving me an olympic ally. -thanks for the event, shade. -thanks for organizing off 5h sleep, dave. -thanks (always) for casting, sayle. -most importantly, thanks to all the viewers & fans for tuning in and making this enjoyable.
The results and the replays have been uploaded into the OP. Also, don't forget to check out Sayle's amazing casting in the VODs that are linked in the OP.
I love you too Joe =] always a pleasure to play with you, and yeah you're totally right... but we could have took the whole thing if i didn't lack in the finals like I did ;< i'm sorry!
Thanks everyone that was related to the organization of the event, and the viewers too, you can expect me going for my revenge in the next one ;]
i'm surprised that all these players participated and actually did uber well on island maps. that first game that got casted was wicked amazing. the jk/bell team going like 8-0 then losing the games that matter, reminds me of the New England Patriots @ Superbowl XLII

Thanks for playing such good games, u were amazing fun to watch
I was amazed with Belladona's off-race Protoss strategies. I am assuming he opened up some of the games with a Stargate because he didn't know if the Random players were Zerg. It was especially cool when he would make one corsair or scout and then transition into mass Dragoon drops. I'm assuming when he only made one unit from the Stargate, the Scout, it was to chase down Dropships with attack-move-attack-move micro. Mostly every game he made one Dragoon to help fend off cheeze rushes. Most games he was able to go 2 Stargate mass Corsairs and then transition to D-web to help his ally! (The whole time fighting off two enemies with probes, a highly outnumbered dragoon or two, and olympically placed Photon Cannons from his mineral surplus.) I didn't know it was possible to survive a 2v2 when you are going mass corsairs, but somehow Belladona managed...Achilles is that you?
Just found out from counter abuse that Scan played on Joekim's account in this tournament. So two olympian players weren't able to get first place. Also, if anyone doubted Scan's abusing habits, let this be more proof.
