That was a great game Hydra, I'm still happy even though you lost. Beautiful tech switches. :D
Snow, you better clean this up for your team. I have no idea how you call that game a decent showing from Hydra. He looked completely lost all game. Hell his Jaedong beating muta micro early on wasn't that great despite saccing a ton of his economy to get that many mutas out. I thought that his early game control was decent, but yes, he was lost during the late game. He wasn't that bad, imo. It could have been a lot more one-sided. He shouldn't have thrown away so many units though. He definitely needs to work on that.

Oh wow, Movie? That is quite possibly the last A teamer from Hite I'd send against Sea, especially considering how many good vT players Hite has. Guess Movie just prepared for that map and was the best choice.

It's not like Hydra was ever known for his ZvT hive play. But that's not what bothered me. It was his tech decisions and execution during attacks later in the game that concerned me. I think he really though he had Sea when he had those lurkers all up in his base. He just started bumbling around after that.

I'd be surprised NOT to see DTs.

Hydra is by no means a bad player. That was by no means "awful" play. But it was insanely bad considering how good he is supposed to be. I'm probably being too harsh but I'm critical when good players play bad.

Whoops, fixed.

Agreed. Considering Sea's TvP it's normally suicide to send anyone who isn't a top level PvTer against him unless they have a sniping build prepared.

We have higher standards for so-called "elite" players. In a way, we're complimenting Hydra because we expect better of him. Three losses in a row isn't a big deal.

Sea opening with 2fac, with 1 fac hidden, and a rax/sd wall protecting his main.

Yeah, especially because Hydra's ZvT is still quite in untested waters. Sea has his decent TvZ days, and there were moments where it looked like Hydra could have taken the game. But the little mistakes he kept on making kept on adding up, thus snowballing into a huge loss. I think that that game will provide a good learning experience for him though. Hopefully, we'll see an improved performance from him next time!

What was wrong with those tech switches? I felt the mutas/guardians did well considering they killed tanks, SCVs, an armory, shut down a base, and killed a few marines in the process.

Movie attacks into the wall with a zealot and goon, preventing the marines from killing off the zealot before a tank comes out, but a tank pops just in time to save the wall. Sea floats his completed fac out onto a ledge to make vultures. Goons almost manage to snipe the tank, but it pulls back just in time!
|
Yes! I love me some 2 fact.
Lifting factory over the ledge...
Movie with 2 gate range
|
1 tank dies to a goon snipe, but a vulture makes it to the main and lays a few mines in the nat. A second vulture heads out to snipe a probe and scout around the map. Sea takes out another couple goons with his tank. Movie tries to snipe it, but can't get close enough. One of the mines manages to land on 3 goons, damaging them.

Guardians and mutas in the late game... I'd much rather a zerg just continue pumping defilers and lurkers. Maaaybe ultras... Yeah, the guardians lasted a while, I concede, but I'm not sure they did nearly enough damage to cover the costs.

Movie finally takes his expo with a lot of goons guarding his nat. Sea lifts his hidden fac and floats it back toward his base as he starts a CC at his nat as well. Movie scouts everything with an observer as Sea finally adds an academy for scans and walls off again, this time at his nat.
