Predictions By infinitestory: Game 1. Roro Princess Looking at stats alone (small sample size), it looks like terran is the shit, but the PvT record is one-sided matches + Flash, and the number of PvP and ZvZ mirrors make me think that Benzene is actually a P/Z map in practice. Oz isn't much of a P team, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Princess here. For FOX, RorO has played more on this map. The game is tough to call. Neither one is really outstanding at ZvZ, but I'd pick RorO for experience.
Game 2. Baby HiyA Another map with seemingly deceiving stats. 24 Terrans have played on this map. HiyA's been playing a little better lately, so I think we'll see him here today. For FOX, Baby's been taking this map recently, and his TvT (while struggling) is still better than HiyA's.
Game 3. Pure Anytime Yet again, the mirrors tell the story. 5 PvP mirrors, 1 ZvZ mirror, 0 TvT mirrors. I expect to see Pure here in spades. Oz has been fielding sky[kal] as a main protoss, but since he's sucked shit, I expect to see sHy (starleaguer), Anytime (pro), or Backho (comedy). I'm going to go with Anytime. I think Anytime will be able to take down Baby if this happens.
Game 4. Midas Jaedong Jaedong is the only Zerg who can consistently overcome the map balance here. Midas played here recently, but Jaedong is godmode. I expect this to be a very outstanding game, if it happens.
Game 5. Shine Killer We've seen enough of Icarus to be able to call it a Zerg-favored map. Shine has been outstanding lately, so I expect to see him. No matter how well Killer is playing, he is going to be Shine's 11th consecutive ZvZ victim.
Game 6. Mind sHy Another map where we've seen a lot of Terran. Mind, however bad he is, should be more than capable of taking whatever Oz has left. Which isn't much. Oz's best remaining player at this point is probably sHy.
I lb'd Oz, I have confidence 2 of Hiya Killer and Perfectman can get wins on Khan, plus an obv JD win, JD shouldn't have any problems on EotS in the ace.
im always torn when oz fights khan, since i don't care for the teams much, but i love jaedong and stork. I always get so sad when my favorite players get sad from losing ; ;
Ah god, I would totally watch if our school's division finals weren't being played at my school. Oh well, I LB'd OZ and completely expect OZ to win x).

drones pulled to fight, 4 hydra and a sunken are plenty to hold it off - pure finally thinking and pulls 3 surviving zealots away towards a possible third, which is there at 10.5
jd rushing units towards pure's nat - 4 cannons there with the gateways
5 zealot 2 dt attack on jd's 3rd - taking so much damage from 2 lurkers now 4 lurkers pure leaving with one surviving zealot - a dozen lings chase/surround
This was Pure's game to lose, he could have killed the Spawning Pool at the start (wasn't covered by the sunken), plus not having vision of those generators was just a big fail.
now a bunch of hydralurk moving towards jd's bridges - pure there with archon/zealot/sair, backs off one obs sniped, another still there behind , no obs speed
JD moving closer with his hydralurk army another OL killed by sairs
2 templar out
JD late in burrowing his lurkers, loses 3 for no reason - but hydraling now joining armies standoff by pure's bridges
If Pure had just put one probe at his generator to provide vision for the cannon he would've been in a game winning situation. One simple click. Game sense fail.
Nice timing attack by Baby, well played. Killer needed to expand earlier or do more damage with the mutas, I feel. Baby moved out too easily off of 2 base :/
edit 2 I just noticed I made a typo in my predictions for this game. I said Anytime would beat Baby, when I should have said Anytime would beat Pure... owel
that was such a rubbish build by anytime, he kind of did everything on spot, first attack with speed lots before the legs actually kicked in... and what was with that second stargate

I have NO clue.
Why is mass hydra all-in so strong? I don't remember it being this strong before o_o
I'm willing to believe 3 or 4 more templar would have made it anytime's win. Zerg had no mining at the main and no OLs left.
I knew he was going to reinforce his attack but I expected maybe 10 hydras; instead he pulled around 30 more out of his ass. Unbelievable, need to rewatch that one I think.
Oh well, hoping for a Hiya vs. Shine match, gotta see if that JD win was a fluke.
mnm/vessel moves out to the middle of the map - run into maybe 8 lurkers and a bunch of lings as they retreat, first vessel is sniped another one is out though
The main problem with fast port like that is there is no early m&m presence, I don't think roro even needed to make 1 sunk and as you can see, he easily took a 3rd.
not bad micro on Lomo's part as another lurkerling attack forwards but Roro's lings run into the facility/physics lab - which is plagued along with a few mnm the facility lifts hrm
vulture shooting at the hatch morphing at 6 lings finish it off, but the mine it planted takes out like 8/9 lings with it Roro's also taken 5 Has double ultra cavern, one in his main and one at 7.5
3 ultras tearing into mnm defending 10 but vulture/suicide mines finish it off
3 lurkers burrow at 10 though
Lomo's taken 12 this game is really dragging out, neither player can deal a damaging attack
the 3 lurkers walked forwards at 10, 2 die and the 4 mnm retreat from the rest
mass scourge kill bc at 3
2 lurkers walk iinto lomo's 10.5 base - yikes!
single ultra dies to mnm at 12
scvs dropped at 3, waiting for the creep to fade
idle drones at 6!
Lomo has the entire bottom half of the map, plus the 9 island Lomo has all of the top except 11 and 10, plus 3 - but ultraling drop at 3 killing that off

alone trying to break through shine's lings at his ramp - shine holding for now - alone still pumping lings shine starst a sunken in his main evo chamber starting for alone just a single creep at his main and one at his nat - NOT COVERING THE MINERAL line
but lings make it into shine's nat shine defends well
On December 11 2010 15:05 Womwomwom wrote: For whatever reason it feels like Shine actually has a better economy than Princess, Princess doesn't really have that many drones.
Yeah, Alone doesn't have many drones
first 2 mutas out for Shine Alone's spore at his nat doesn't cover the mineral line at all - the drones hat to run after 1 is killed - the don't even go to the main?
mutas micro against the evo chamber in the main
6 lings moving out for alone won't do much
but shine gets 2 lings into alone's main one drone kill 2 drone kills and they leave as alone's lings arrive
wat why every game shine either cheese or being cheesed alone, why you would fucking do this ling all-in with an advantageous economy build i hate you =|
wow. That was a pretty bad game by Princess. Lets see. Poor drone/ling micro gets a drone sniped here and there. Poor ling micro and loses lings uneccesarily. Throws away lings when trying to break Shine's main, HORRIBLE spore placement....
12 pool expo vs 9 pool gas gives him better economy, but puts him behind in tech, he has the econ to build a lot of lings. also shine got a few drones in the beginning to even up the econ advantage

Not really a battle, Jaedong might be performing a little bit worse than Flash but he has teammates that, while generally bad, aren't as awful as KT's current line up.
Speaking of which KT vs Ace is next according to OGN so that should be a hilarious watch.

Did I read that right? I mean, KTs line-up is the same team which dominated the last season in every aspect, plus action (which as of now of course has not performed too well). Oz line-up was even one of the worst teams last season, just with the addition of a progamer who hasn't practiced well in over two years and a reasonable rookie zerg.
The quality of KTs line-up exceeds Oz by so much, they just don't have their shit together right now. Oz just loses badly every second game. And now that JD loses some ace-matches from time to tijme, it's awful.
It's been three Ace loses if I'm not mistaken, and he also won at least once. I would say Flash was far more "impressive" in this regard last season
Anyway, it doesn't really matter. If you lose 50% of your games 1-4 or 2-4, Jaedong could win all the ace-matches in the world and it wouldn't be enough.

Yes you did read that right, if Oz and KT played right now it could possibly end up 4-0 in Oz's favor. Last season's results doesn't mean anything if your team is failing to perform this season, especially since people's performances have changed so much (big example is Fantasy and his insanely good bio TvZ right now).
Oz has a lot of fairly adequate protoss (Anytime, Perfectman I guess) and zergs (Princess, Killer, Jaedong), and guess what KT players play extremely badly against. I have without a doubt the only two players that wouldn't get worked by the listed players would be Flash and maaaaybe Stats.
New BO7 format requires teams to have at least 3 stable players to do good in PL, not 2 like BO5. If Anytime can get into good shape they can have 3 stable playes and win more often.
But Oz's problem is that they haven't got any other variant for ace except JD. From KT it might be Stats. Or even Violet. But from Oz... who the hell they would send if JD for some reason was bad to play in this particular case (for example if he had an "ace match slump" like Flash did)???
Princess? Perfectman? rofl.....
The only option would be Hiya, but he is too bad, except for his occasional good play in TvZ. But hey, btw, this may be an idea! If Oz know that the opponent likely sends a medium Zerg (95% of which are bad at ZvT), they may really send Hiya for ace, so that the opponent will not be able to count only on luck! ^_^
I see Oz failing another young-and-upcoming Zerg in Princess... Killer development failed miserably last year and now they're going for double failure with Princess. I'd rather have them field the older players like MBC for a while so that they can get their groove on, and then try one or two rookies at a time.
Sadly, counting Killer as an "older player" now, Oz's top 6 are: Jaedong Hiya Anytime Perfectman Killer BackHo
Sorry Lomo, but I'd rather field BackHo than you. Although the BC's were epic lulz.
So yeah... guess Oz should try the MBC's R1 strategy of fielding those 6 players over and over until they start winning.
Princess is more reliable I think. The all-in rush he went this game is not so characteristic of him. Maybe he wanted to be unpredictable. And after all his opponent was Shine, who is now a ZvZ monster.
I dunno why he suicided tons of lings into a sunken (maybe he'd better eat some important building like spire or pool with them...), but this is a out-workable mistake.
I dunno. "Princess" looks overall more confident. That's just a sense based on how he looks during games - concentrated, attentive, mobilized and unyielding.
I'm sure some Killer would give up on the match with Horang2 given the situation he was put into in the early-mid game, but Princess didn't. ____
But Hiya seriously if you NOW don't win in the next Oz match I will go to Korea and fucking kill you!
Anytime played normally, but in the end anyone was like WTF about the number of hydras which went onto Anytime's base o.o
maybe he needed to go reaver? I really dunno why he got storm instead... =( His play really was promising.
Jaedong looks tired nowadays. He clearly cannot do his best ;(( I'm wondering what happened to him? o.o That must be some "hardware" problem i guess. Hope he recovers soon.
Maybe they ask him this question in the interview if Oz (hopefully) wins the next match

Flash should come to Oz since he said he'd like to be on the same team THEN maybe Oz can lose 4-2 all the time
In all seriousness tho, its sad to see them get rolled after having such a good start to the round... JD's ace slump turns into a team slump I guess D:
