It was fun watching this with all of you and following the comment threads at the same time. Even when the stream lagged everyone would post LAAAAG and it made it a little easier to bear, knowing that everyone else was suffering at the same time. I'm glad it went to 5 games. Here's hoping the OSL does the same. | ||

It was obvious he was very well-prepared, and took every opportunity to grab both the small advantages and the huge (14cc) ones. There were a lot of tricky plays and it was, for the most part, much more entertaining than all the previous JD-Flash encounters. | ||

You're talking about blind 14cc (like in game 5). I also agree that blind 14cc is cheesy. It's a gamble with a large payoff but larger risks. Flash used to blind 14cc a lot but then people picked up on it and he got punished. Nowadays Flash doesn't generally blind 14cc more than 1 game in a series. However, people need to differentiate between blind 14cc and 14cc after scout (like the first 2 games, and games 2 and 3 of last MSL). 14cc after scout is definitely not cheese. If you spot the zerg 12 hatching, you put down a CC. If you spot a pool, you 1 or 2 rax to wall off (doesn't always work, as we saw tonight, still risky but not too bad usually, though obviously susceptible to 4-5 pool cheese). As a general rule, 12 hatching on a 2 player map vs Flash will lead him to scout and 14cc in return, putting the zerg at a disadvantage (again, like game 1 and 2). Z can either 3 hatch before pool (to offset the 14cc), or 9 pool / overpool to avoid the 14cc. | ||

@14cc haters Take note, in rounds 1 and 2, flash delayed his cc to scout JD's 12 hatch. Had JD gone for a more aggressive build flash likely wouldn't have 14cc'd. At the same time, since flash does this so often, the scout timing should have suggested to JD that flash was 14ccing. In round 5, flash did a blind 14cc. This got the cc started faster, and denied JD information, but left him vulnerable to early aggression. It was a calculated risk, and it payed off. Moral of the story - Don't hate on the 14cc, hate JD's inability to deal with it, specifically his refusal to shift to more aggressive play in rounds 1 and especially 2 when flash telegraphed him his build. EDIT - I see moopie got to this before me. | ||
