flash didnt even scout AT ALL. he would've had to hold off lings with just SCV's.

Yes.

First, the expansions on Polaris Rhapsody are very open, and therefore difficult for Zerg to defend. It's a 2-player map, so Terran can scout-->14CC safely. There's an easy wall-in for Terran, so Terran is safe from almost any cheesy rush with only a couple marines.

Furthermore, late game Polaris Rhapsody is very favorable for mech due to the narrow paths and ease of splitting the map, which means Jaedong has to either win early/midgame or get a large economic advantage before entering the lategame.

All of this is true of Odd-Eye as well. As a consequence, Flash opened with scout --> 14CC --> midgame all-in all three games on Polaris/Odd-Eye, and won all of them in large part because JD had to play high-econ to avoid losing in the late game.

It probably influenced JD on his build.

Can't really open normal muta-lurker on this map since the third is not really defensible with lurkers and you can't do muta harass like you can on match point to make up for it.

He also might've just been expecting mech and was going for some sort of mass hydra push.
