If Jaedong took that unit out with his inital 9 muta and 12 ling instead of going to the counter at his main it would've set him up much better for the mid game imo. It's good to see him going back to 3-hatch muta though. Instead of making 3 sunkens, made more lings, he could have done very well.

JD really should stick to 2-hatch :/ Hrmm, I tend to go the other way. Flash's muta defense is so strong that I think JD is better playing 3-hatch and setting himself up (economically) for stronger mid-game play. Flash loves to poke out early with little MnM groups to snipe 3rd gas expos and a 3-hatch muta ling could exploit this imo.

Sometimes players go for 4 or 5 rax early on, but being surprised by 3 rax just makes little to no sense. This and Flash has been using that exact same build for the past 10 TvZs.

Effort went for the group of m&m which was roaming, but all that did was buy Flash time to fully fortify his base without sacrificing economy. What I really love about Flash's new play is that it is so dominating on current maps for the same reason that Z>>P on most current maps. After seeing so many Toss get smashed trying to get up a 3rd, it's deeply satisfying to watch a Zerg struggle to get a base down.

We've seen so many Protoss and ESPECIALLY so many Zerg players rising up and making names for themselves lately, but the Terran race seems really stagnant, with just the old guard holding everything up. lol? Since when was Flash old guard. He's only been around for a few years man. If it was FBH/Iris/Sea/Hwasin tearing it up, I could see an argument for stagnation but stop acting like Flash is some old grizzled veteran. Him and Fantasy are still both youngins. And Baby's up and coming! And that TurN was looking hot vs Bisu the other night!

Zerg and Protoss have a lot of promising proteges (especially Zerg), Terran's crop of newcomers just doesn't match up to the other two races'.

I would put Calm, Effort, Zero, and Jaedong ahead of Shine when it comes to the top zergs. He might get to the round 4, but his winning ways will end there. You don't have to be a hated player to be some up and comer. I don't mean to imply that I think Shine will ever be S-class. I mentioned it since the assumption was made that S-class players by default produce better sets than non-S-class players, and that's simply not the case. Some of Jaedong/Flash/Bisu's best games were produced when they were still up-and-coming. Up-and-coming players can certainly show very entertaining games. This.

After seeing so many Toss get smashed trying to get up a 3rd, it's deeply satisfying to watch a Zerg struggle to get a base down. That game vs type-b comes to mind where flash amassed something like 50 m&ms. Then again, he went from some weird ultra build there. I have seen a few games (most with 2 hatch openings) where some of the zerg's he was facing threw away some sort of clear advantage in the midgame because of a bad flank or over-aggressiveness (looking at you kwanro), and JD wouldn't have made the same mistakes they made. Anyways, I think overall a 3 hatch build makes sense, and it makes you wonder how the game would've turned out if JD had made more lings than sunkens and taken out that initial group of m&m's with muta-ling. He suicided so many things for absolutely nothing with his desperate backstabs.
