I've been doing something like this:
GGP
GGP
GGP
or
PGG
PGG
PGG
This works really well but sometimes, in some games, it will cause blocked units. Many times I would lose games because 3 cycles of units are just caught in gateways. Also, they don't go to the rally and I have to manually move them after they get stuck. It's a pain.
I've also been doing this:
GGG
GPG
GGG
This works but it's a bit messy and not as clean as the pros. Would love some advice on the best protoss layout. I understand that creating gates on the left side of a pylon is superior to the right side. I'd like to know which method is best. A method that does not block units and uses a reasonable amount of pylons to get as many gates.
With the above methods, especially the first two methods, I can get like 12-14 gates easy for one base. That's enough for one base right? in PvT, I understand you'd probably want more (how much more?). But I think it's okay for PvZ.
2. Been having a hard time dealing with PvZ. Especially when the Z does Hydra all in with a quick lurker contain. Against this, I would go one gate tech with sairs. But I can't seem to get the tech fast enough and I'm always playing catch up. I'm having a hard time because against this kind of play you need to get both the storm tech WITH obs tech. Not sure how to time it so that I am ready to fight the hydras with storm and then prepare for the lurkers. It seems like I am always behind and my tech is late for both the storm and obs, even though I am going one gate. the hydras are busting down my door before storm is ready and the lurkers have me contained for way too long.
My thinking to stop this is: open one gate into sair asap. Get citadel of adun right after Stargate. get storm tech right away after Citadel of adun finishes. Once storm is researching, get some DTs and poke with sairs AND get robo facility. Once robo finishes, get obs.
THEN, I add massive gates. Is this how I am supposed to do it? or am I sacrificing too much to get out so much so quickly? Please assist. Thank you.
