if z goes mass muta, and p still didn't start researching any air uogrades, should he research attacks first to deal more damage or air armour first to take less wyrm damage (like zergs do in zvz — carapace first)?

P should always get +1 air attack first in your situation. There are multiple reasons for this:
1) sairs do splash damage, so you want to magnify this effect, rather than ignore it by getting armor
2) scourge will be the main damage dealers to sairs, not the mutas. Since they do 110 damage, getting armor has a more than negligible effect. You want to increase your chances of killing the scourge before they can hit you by getting +1 attack, rather than reduce the damage they do when they hit.

The reason zergs tend to get carapace first in zvz is because the anti scourge patrol micro you can 1 shot a scourge with 3 mutas without +1 attack. Thus you can rely on micro to defeat the scourge and take advantage of the fact that the carapace upgrade applies 3 times to reduce the bounce damage from the mutas.

Does anyone know why sometimes when a worker is told to mine on a patch that's under the fog of war he will just sit there and sometimes he will mine?

I was re-watching the WCG documentary on national geographic.
Xelos went M&M in a TVT in a last ditch effort...

Are there any examples of M&M in TVT?
I know of:
Boxer vs oov
Boxer vs some other terran ?HIya on Blue storm
Xellos vs Nada on bifrost (the game that ended xellos' winning streak on bifrost)

Is it actualy viable?

Honestly, I never tell workers to mine stuff that is in fog of war anymore, simply because of that issue. I feel it has something to do with the fact that sometimes minerals are kinda in the fog kinda not, and you might be clicking on the ones that are actually in the fog even though they seem like they aren't (at least that's what I assume you mean, and not just a random mineral that is not next to a Nexus that is morphing in). What I do is when it is time to send Probes to mine minerals at a new base, I right click the whole group to one mineral patch that is clearly in the view of the Nexus. Sometimes you don't have a mineral patch that satisfies this condition, so I use the vespene geyser. I don't remember the last time that neither were an option on a standard map. I hotkey the Probe group, do other stuff, then when a few seconds pass and the Nexus is already finished and sees the minerals, I split the Probes then (they should still be traveling to the Nexus, but be pretty close by this point). Another way to circumvent this issue is to send one Probe earlier than the others, and when IT has vision of the minerals, then split the rest of the Probes, if you want a more perfect timing I guess.

Obviously if you have other buildings in the vicinity, it makes things easier as well.

I do it like how I see the pros do it in FPV. They right click the workers on the gas then shift-right click on to the mineral patch. It works even if the gas is in the fog. I haven't noticed if it works 100% but works often enough for me not to notice it.

Is there a way to open iccup maps in the starcraft editor to test out a few scenarios (such as cannon range, wall-ins,...)?

Or can I do it with this other editor staredit?

Right now I always have to play single player as protoss, mind control drones and you know the rest of the story..

I ran a few tests here but it seems that the chance of them mining is so high it makes difficult to know what works 100%. From my attempts they ended up mining 90%+ of the time,I didn't test extensively enough though. It seems like that's the intended behavior but sometimes it doesn't work. Idk if the gas trick increases the chance or if it's just placebo as well.

The best option that I know of is to do the following:

-In multiplayer (can be on US West, ICCUP, etc.) when making the game choose game type "team melee", number of teams "2".

-Change your team's race to zerg, terran, and protoss. You will start with a worker from each race.

-Oh no! The game will tell you that you can't start without an opponent, so change the 2nd player slot to computer. Then, so you don't have to deal with the comp screwing with you in-game, quickly change it back to closed, BUT ONLY AFTER YOU HIT START to initiate the game count down.

-Once the games starts, it will say game has ended in a draw, but you can just hit continue playing, and you're done.

I was considering on holding off on my 8,000th post, but since it involves using team melee game setting I couldn't resist

The problem is that you can't cheat on MP so you'll have to build from scratch.

you placed your tip of your cursor too close to/or at the edge of the mineral when clicking on the patch under the fog,

there seems to be a bounded area within the fogged mineral sprite where workers will only properly mine when you click within the area. click outside the boundary, there will be the usual yellow feedback but the workers will not mine. doesn't matter how many workers, how hidden the patch currently is in the fog, whether you use gas trick... workers will just stop at the mineral.

most players at any half decent level will have enough precision to place their cursor correctly almost of the time, aided by the fact that the area is almost the entire size of the sprite. (if not, osu and sniper is fun)
sometimes you find 1 or 2 workers not mining because you do cloning on fogged minerals and so the chance of putting a cursor in the wrong place and having a worker not mining is higher
also in early game players have loads of spare apm and will continue to box over workers and click rapidly on the minerals when transferring workers and will eventually right click on top of a visible mineral when units go near. i vaguely remember a few games here and there where pros find their workers all idle at mineral patches when transferring workers around in lategame

Damn, that helps a lot, thank you. I tested here and it's consistent. The top area of minerals seem to be more finicky than the bottom, as well as some areas where you can click on terrain and the worker still mines. If you click on a patch and another patch below it blinks it usually didn't work, however if one on top blinks it worked. Not that extensively tested.
