You're playing from behind if you didn't bust his natural...depends a lot in what he has though I think just try to play as normal, but at a huge disadvantage

What are the best indicatiors that the Zerg is going for each build?

Besides the number of hatcheries.
And gas timing (But I really don't know when)

I'm sorry for all these questions I hope I'm not to much of a bother even though I have been watching BW for about a year and a half I haven't been playing BW for long.

This questions varies depending on which race you are playing. As a toss, I can say the I watch for the timing of the pool for any early rush. Then you actually need to know the gas timing to determine if they are going to muta play. It's really important to use a corsair for scouting and see if they got a hydra den or went to lair tech. Two major builds are based on muta timings or hydra timings. Learning the difference will save you minerals if you forge expand and can skip on building more then one cannon at the natural. Liquipedia has these strategies in more detail.

Protoss of course. Sorry should have included that in my question.

What you've said I already know, but sometimes it's hard to tell the builds apart IF I'm not doing a corsair build because often times I go for Zealot 1+ timings and I can't tell exactly which build he is doing with my probe.

I mean the number of hatcheries can give it away, but it occasionally happens that the zergs hiddes the hatcheries and then you are f'd.

How about this. Today I played a game where I scouted his base and he had 3 hatches of of 2 base. I wasn't sure if it was Hydra or mutalisk because I saw the hydra den, but it could have been fake.

Do I just assume it can be both and defend both possibilities I could do this and still be a little bit a head of him, but it just doesn't seem wise.

It's harder if you can't see his main, but you assume he has one gas I his main, if there's a second gas I believe that means muta build?
Try playing zvp a bit to get a feel for the timings and stuff...

How can I toggle the "lock pointer in screen" thingy from my keyboard for W-Mode?

When did lineups to PL games stop being announced beforehand?
I know they stopped it in response to match-fixing, but I can't recall the date.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=110349 lineup already known 1/19/10

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=161074 lineup not know 10/16/10 - Opening match of 10-11 PL

However i do recall that they stopped a little bit before that match...

so funny that they bring it back like matchfixing cannot happen in sc2
Why would I play sctoo when I can play BW?

Look like one page earlier just had a discussion on this...
But 1.5xnumber of minerals is about good...2x is even better, 3x is about max saturation...3 on gas is a good number, although if you really need more gas 4 on gas wil give you slightly more gas, not that much more but it might help...

Having just started playing again for the first time in many years. I play zerg and my mechanics are absolute crap.

I'm currently only playing against computer, and beating it easily, but I doubt I'm ready to play an actual person. I was wondering if anyone had a nice simple zerg build I could be doing while getting used to the controls and the game?

Probably just do a 9 pool speedling all in. When your supply's at 9, make a spawning pool, then make an extractor, mine gas and make zerglings. When you have 100 gas, take drones off gas and research your zergling speed, then just make hatcheries and zerglings and try kill the other person early.

Mkay, I'll do that. I'm still playing against compute rthough, and I feel that would be enough to kill it. Anything that's aimed at going on a bit longer? Like a... 3 hatch Muta or something like that?

Thanks!

for what mu? all three have different openings most of the time
you can just 9pool every game; it puts you a little behind in zvt if your opponent micros properly, but they probably won't so that's fine
9pool, 9 ovie, 11 zergling*3, 14 hatch
then either 13 gas for 2 hat or 15hat 14gas for 3hat
you can do the extractor trick if you want but honestly it doesn't make that big of a difference

3hatch muta is pretty standard but doesn't usually end the game quickly. In my personal opinion, if you want to improve your mechanics the best way to do it is to play a build that's designed to end the game quickly, allin style, because then you can play the same thing over and over again but it's only a short thing so you can memorize the actions necessary to accomplish it and improve your mechanics without having to think too hard about the strategy. I can show you a really nice 2hatch lurker build vs terran, which usually ends the game about 8 minutes in. If he's good, it'll drag on longer, but basically you can do this build 6-7 times in an hour which means you can work on getting your mechanics and timings perfect for the build without having to worry too much about the strategy involved. And it wins lots of games too, which helps for motivation.

Ah, that's a good point. I'm gonna go with the speedling opening for now, and move on to something that goes on for a bit longer after I've got the basics gone. I'll be back for more! :>

Also, thanks to the both of you =d

Good builds that are basically allin(but not quite) are 3 Hatch Hydra Bust for ZvP and 2 Hatch Lurker(or 1 hatch lurker) or zvt...ZvZ 4 pool but that's pretty easy to hold off...and of courses great build is 0|0 lings transition into 0|0 speed lings transition into 1|1 speed lings into 2|2 speedlings into 3|3 cracklings with a lot of hatcheries and spores xD

In the StarCraft context.

You know how people say that in order to truly understand a particular MU, you need to play it from the other side occasionally? So my question is: about when (in terms of your skill development) should you start playing your opponent's race? So for example, I am a new D-level Terran currently learning TvZ (big thanks to puppykiller!). Is now a good time to try out a few ZvTs? Or should I just concentrate on my sides of things for now? (I don't know how to muta micro.)

hanbang is "the one timing" or something like that

you don't have to play from both sides, but it does help. just do whatever you think is more fun

You don't need to play from the other side. You need to think from the other side and then you can react to the things that you would do had you been on the other side.
