I'm comparing Windows 7 (64 bit) vs. Windows Vista (32 bit) on the same computer.

I didn't notice any higher latency either on my 7(x64) install though when playing on ICCUP. Does it happen all the time or occasionally?

Other then that, i'm really loving W7 and the 64-bit perks. Its much better then XP is imo.

Do a quick search on google to get VirtualBox to run in full screen mode.

I noticed that starcraft runs much smoother in Vista, I'm guessing it's a Lan Lantency problem but I'm really not sure what is the source of the problem.

Most of the geeky nerds that have installed it in their comps, have said that it's faster and it's filled with good new features. Also, since the last release it's just as Release Candidate, I wouldn't expect things to work all the time. Wanting to know if M$ is going to launch another Failure OS make me a geeky nerds ?? Well, actually, i am, but i can imagine people that try the new OS, like it, and keep it, without being geeky nerds... By the way, i got not any problems with win7 RC, the installation is extremly easy (for a geeky nerd maybe) : You are in XP, you download the win7RC_setup_blablabla.exe, launch it, wait, wait, and ... that's it. You dont have to create a new partition, since the install back up your old system in windows.old folder, and let u choose at the boot wich system u want to use. If you select 'earlier version of windows', you boot XP, like you never installed win7. I dont understand why people are trying to install from bootable DVD, or bootable USB key... Back to the topic, i must say that i actually had some problems : SC runs fine (exept some color bugs), but my CC is an ellipse, the nvidia driver 'use fixed aspect ratio' option dont work... That's annoying. Some other old games dont want to launch (Collin McRae 2 TT). 2 things that changed my life : - the home network works !!!!!! Still can't believe this! I configured nothing, exept the password! What happened to MS ? I can share files of several Go, without having the usuall random 'the network location blablabla is no longer available'. I've never been able to share media over the home network, but it now works. I can watch movies from another PC!! (ok maybe it was possible on XP if you aren't a LAN noob, but it was not easy... For me it always have been a total failure, the video hangs after 10 seconds). - the search box when you use the "start menu". Ok it was added in vista, but since i uninstalled Vista after the 10th BSOD, i am new to this! Now that the system is stable (i am waiting to see my first BSOD on win7), i find it great, and i can't stand the XP start menu anymore : if you don't maintain a 'quick launch links folder', your lost between 'Sierra interactive', 'Microprose', 'XXXXX Ltd', 'another random company name', etc. when you just remember the name of the application... - second second thing : windows after windows, the windows explorer slowly becomes "efficient": you can go wherever you want in few clicks... - And they upgraded mspaint!!!!! So it keeps being the ultimate graphic application it would have been 15 years ago. I already miss the XP one. However, win7 is not as fast as some said. For me, my fresh win7 install is as fast as my old XP, who is 5 years old, with tons of crappy programs installed (exept for the boot time : about 45 sec vs 1min50). Come on geeky nerds, you must try it : it is free and you can boot your earlier XP whenever you want. And then you could say 'My win7 blablabla...' instead of 'I heard win7 blablabla...'

I installed Windows 7 Build 7600 RTM a few days ago and i have no starcraft crash anymore. But i have another problem now - it lags like hell even in single player. Screen scrolling and unit movement are slow. I tried compatibility mode and some other feature, but didn't get any effect. Please, can you help me now? Thanks.

![]() Tried to set affinity, newwest graphics drivers, killing explorer.exe to fix colors (which works, but sc keeps crashing). The only tip i got is - when i reboot my comp and open sc it will almost never crash, and i can play as long as i want, but if comp is running for couple of hours and i open sc it will almost surely darken a little bit and that's it - only hard reset works. It is really troublesome, do anybody got similar problem? Hangups are random - sometimes on loading screen, sometimes after 30s of first game.
